This is a very controversial issue, more and more people now seek answers to the question of "bringing tithe to the store house of God, that there might be meat..."

We have been taught the need to pay tithe but most preachers fail to mention and fulfil the primary purpose of this topic "TITHING".

Let's have your candid opinion. Should one look out for needys around and ensure there is food on their table WITH our tithe?

To me, that's the best way to tithe.

the poor are the house of God as far as I'm concerned. that's all I've been doing since I started working. God's blessing is immeasurable in my life.

Give gifts to the needies. Give Tithes to God..

Tithing is clearly stated in bible.

Tithe is a portion of your income that belongs to God and should be brought into the house of God. The Bible does not recommend this 10% of your income be given to the poor. It is solely utilized to pay Pastor's salaries, the upkeep of the house of God and evagelism.

The offering on the other hand is a free will of offering. It has no boundary and a believer can choose how he wants to give and who or where to give the money. I think here lies the opportunity for a believer in Christ to use the money to help people in need, support God's work in the mission, help the poor in the street, etc.

Please Read Malachi 3:10, it says "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."

The fact that we need to pay our tithe is not a law(must) neither is it a basis for making heaven (cos all earthly reward remains here) but paying our Tithe challenges God by his word to open the windows of heaven...


The issue now is the purpose for which this tithe is meant. God explicitly stated that there may be food in my house.

My understanding is that the word food shouldn't be centered solely on the Pastors/Priests alone but the needy in the house of God. Now my purpose for pulling up this is to ask...do we satisfy fully the purpose of God with our Tithes or its one sided?

Yes it's clearly stated in the bible but it was NEVER directed to christians and the biblical tithe is even different from the 419 monetary version preached today.

Deut 14:22-29 says you can eat your tithes and give to the poor out of it.

underline the word mercy....i gave you an answer to the question you asked. God loves it better to give it to those who are suffering and in need than bring it to His sanctuary all the time...He desires kindness above code of conducts....either you give your tithe or not, that's not my concern. This issues has been thrashed times without number on NL. Even the tithe you mentioned is not applicable in the new covenant (God loves a cheerful giver, not a tithe adherent). The reason for adopting tithe is in church nowadays is not because of one blessing, but because money will be available to do some certain things, and people won't give if you don't squeeze them (there is a reason behind this) So they have to devise a means to collect it as to run the church as if it is some kind of earthly organization. so it is optional.
