superstar1:pls there is no chest beating in this. What i posted is nothing but the pure truth. I personally know that the georges and azikiwe axis is the most developed area of aba with constant power supply. Even the fmr gov have a mansion there. Maybe the had transformer problem then because as we speek azikwe have light |

focus7:this is not about land size but population. Having land without many people living in it to use the light is useless. Though i think that the reason for the power is because of so many private individuals investing in power. Aba alone has about three power plants that is not connected to the general grid! Lest i forget, igbos are not limited to south east alone. My mother is from egbema and she is igbo. Se is a nigerian creation besides sE is one of the zone with the highest arable land. Having land full of water and desert is useless |

explorer250:I am not antagonising you or going against your personal experience. I only posted the event that occurred yesterday, where citizens of Aba are protesting over exorbitant bills and lack of electricity supply, as reported by Vanguard. |

Chest beating or not i kw EEDC is doing beta dan most of d rest comparing my experience at enugu and abuja plus reports frm sw. Those who call us chest beaters r d same ppl dat make noise abt Fashola's glorified generators, dey flood NL wit fashola comisioning street lights. Continue waiting 4 Buhari, Nestoil's power plant in anambra will be completed soon, last tym i travelled to warri Nestoil was laying huge pipes frm Ughelli toward Anambra to deliver gas. |

InyinyaAgbaOku:Nothing of such was mentioned in the report. What the artisans complained about were: 1. The bill 2. Lack of supply. And not Transformer. |

superstar1:They probably don't know where their problem is coming from. because I just confirmed from an Aba friend who said their light is near constant . Aba has many powerplants actually |

Dewze:I concur with you.Abakaliki tops the rest of SE cities in availability of power. There has been not more than 3 power outages for almost a week now which doesn't even last for more than 5mins.My cousin that visited me keeps wondering if this is really happening in Nigeria. |

Give it up for Ogbaru people at Anambra. I have always wondered what they are doing with light, I mean constant power supply. Ever seen your typical rural villagers storing food in the fridge and watching dstv after a rigorous farmwork. |

It depends on which line you are connected to. Street A might get 19 hours of electricity a day, while Street B few metres away gets less than 7 hours of electricity a day. |

explorer250:You want me to believe your claims based on assumptions and 'maybe's, and ignore a Channels news investigation aired last night? And you want me to believe people that complain of running generators all day cannot afford their bills? It wasn't a 'false' documentary, it was a news piece. First the coal (1) is ground to a fine powder and blown into the boiler (2), where it is burned, converting its chemical energy into heat energy. Grinding the coal into powder increases its surface area, which helps it to burn faster and hotter, producing as much heat and as little waste as possible. As well as heat, burning coal produces ash and exhaust gases. The ash falls to the bottom of the boiler and is removed by the ash systems (3). It is usually then sold to the building industry and used as an ingredient in various building materials, like concrete. The gases enter the exhaust stack (4), which contains equipment that filters out any dust and ash, before venting into the atmosphere. The exhaust stacks of coal power stations are built tall so that the exhaust plume (5) can disperse before it touches the ground. This ensures that it does not affect the quality of the air around the station. Burning the coal heats water in pipes coiled around the boiler, turning it into steam. The hot steam expands in the pipes, so when it emerges it is under high pressure. The pressure drives the steam over the blades of the steam turbine (6), causing it to spin, converting the heat energy released in the boiler into mechanical energy. A shaft connects the steam turbine to the turbine generator (7), so when the turbine spins, so does the generator. The generator uses an electromagnetic field to convert this mechanical energy into electrical energy. After passing through the turbine, the steam comes into contact with pipes full of cold water. In coastal stations this water is pumped straight from the sea ( . The cold pipes cool the steam so that it condenses back into water. It is then piped back to the boiler, where it can be heated up again, turn into steam again, and keep the turbine turning. Finally, a transformer converts the electrical energy from the generator to a high voltage. The national grid uses high voltages to transmit electricity efficiently through the power lines (9) to the homes and businesses that need it (10). Here, other transformers reduce the voltage back down to a usable level. Osun State has the best power supply. Oshogbo, Ile-Ife, Ede and Ilesha sometimes have 24 hours supply. |

It depends on where you stay. We have 11KV, 22KV, and 33KV lines. While I enjoy almost 24/7 power supply on a 33KV line whenever I go to Ilorin, same can not be said of my Uncle's place just about 2Km away. |

Some south east state have light more in my opinion bcus the amt of power generated frm d National grip after sharing it to state level is enough sustain most south east state, they have little industrial consumers of power. The few south east that have regular power shortage it could be as a result of transformer or poor installation of power cables, it could also be as a result of laziness frm d power distributing company in that state. |
