Nobody send d Super Eagles thread. Nobody send d Juve vs Barca thread.
This is d most popular Flying Eagles of all time.
Though the Saudi 89 Flying Eagles were also this popular especially after that Miracle of Damam game.

Germany; 16 goals scored, 2 conceeded, +14 goals diff and 9points.

Nigeria; 8 goals scored, 4 conceeded, +4 goals diff and 6 points.

Hmmmmmm...... Ok oooo..

Against the likes of fiji, honduras and Uzbekistan

If Nigeria had 3 north korea in our group, we would have probably had 12:0.. North korea is better than all three teams.

Awoniyi brace sets up Germany showdown

Nigeria have set up a mouth-watering last-16 meeting with Germany after beating Hungary 2-0 to leapfrog the Magyars into second place in Group E.

The Hungarians still qualify, though, as one of the best third-placed teams and will now kick off the knockout phase against Group D winners Serbia in Dunedin. Nonetheless, they were well beaten at New Plymouth's Taranaki Stadium, with Taiwo Awoniyi's brace no more than the African champions deserved for their overall dominance.

Manu Garba's charges were the better side throughout, nullifying four-goal forward Bence Mervo and providing a constant threat at the other end. They would have taken the lead as early as the 16th minute but for an incredible save from Gyorgy Szekely, who stuck out a strong right hand to beat away Awoniyi's powerful close range header.

The Hungary keeper was merely delaying the inevitable though and was helpless to prevent the deadlock being broken 17 minutes later. Awoniyi was the scorer, ghosting away from his marker to volley in at the near post from Saviour Godwin's teasing low cross.

The Europeans rarely threatened a comeback but did produce one effort of note a few minutes into the second half. Mario Nemeth was just a couple of inches away from a wonder goal, in fact, having taken aim from 30 yards and rattled the crossbar with Joshua Enaholo beaten.

However, the points - and second place - were secured in the 54th minutes when Awoniyi doubled his and tally. It was a goal that neither Attila Osvath or Akos Kecskes will want to watch again, with the Hungary duo having both gone up for the same header at the halfway line, collided and missed the ball entirely.

Awoniyi could hardly believe his luck and, though he still had some work to do, he did it in style, dribbling past a covering defender before rounding Szekely and tucking the ball into the unguarded net.

lol.... But I think otherwise. North Korea has -11 goals diff with ZERO point. I think the worst team in the tourney. Whereas Fiji, Uzbeskitan and Honduras even with -1, -7and -6 are better off with 3 points each. Though group F seems to be the easiest.

If you still don't believe in the Lads, I think you should do yourself favour and stop following them! The Lads ain't scared of facing the Germans, why some dudes are?! Take it or leave it, Manu Garba Boys will defeat the Germans!
Up Super Flying Eagles!!!

You see, I'm tired of this. You think matches are won by bravery? Because you think winning Germany is the only possible outcome for these boys on thursday doesn't mean you are a better fan. Why? It's because that is wrong. The better your opponent, the higher the probability of you losing no matter how good you are. Unless you are naive, you'll have to agree with me that that probability of this team beating Serbia is higher than them beating Germany. So, as a great fan of this team who wants them to win the cup and not just play bravely and crash out, I believe playing Germany in the semi-final or final is better than playing them in the round of 16. Everybody remembers the team that finishes 1st, 2nd or third, nobody remembers the team they beat to get there.
I know this team is very good. I believe they can beat Germany but I also know there is a possibility of them losing even if it's a small one. I love this team so much I don't want them to face such possibility this early in the knock-out stage. Heck! I may even love this team more than you do!

God performance from the boys. This is their best performance so far. For those shouting "Germany", are you sure Germany are not even scared to face us? Idowu to me seems to be the silent hero of the team. What was Manu thinking dropping him against Brazil? I still believe we wouldn't have lost to Brazil with Idowu in the team. His pass completion stats and interception was very good. If we can beat Germany, the cup is ours.

Seleção stroll to top spot

Brazil maintained their 100 per cent record in Group E as they saw off Korea DPR comfortably in Christchurch, racking up a 3-0 win.

They were made to wait for that victory though, with all three coming in the second half as a Min Hyo-Song own goal opened proceedings before Jean Carlos and Leo Pereira saw them end the FIFA U-20 World Cup group stage on a high.

Brazil were guaranteed their place in the next round, but knew that a spectacular slip would have left them at the mercy of the chasing Nigeria and Hungary. But in truth that never looked likely, as A Seleção took control of the game from the off.

The Korea DPR defence sat deep and accepted that their South American opponents would dominate possession - 68 per cent in total - but their organisation and solidity saw the Group E leaders limited to efforts from range in the early passages of play. Judivan tried his luck first, then Jaja went even closer before Malcolm changed tack and tried to pick Marcos Guilherme at the far post, though keeper Ri In Hak was alive to the danger.

The Brazilian front line will still be wondering how they didn't go ahead a few moments later, though. Great work from Judivan teed up Malcolm, but when his effort was cleared off the line by Kim Kuk Chol, Guilherme struck the post from the rebound. Judivan then got the opportunity at the third time of asking, but he blazed his over with goal gaping.

The shots from distance continued, with Boschilla trying his effort twice, though the tactic finally pays dividends after the break. Guilherme had already struck the post before minutes later a shot from all of 35 yards by Jaja deflected wildly off Hyo Song giving In Hak no chance.

While that was something of a scrappy way to chalk up the opener, the second was pure Brazilian magic. After coming on as half-time substitute, Jean Carlos lit up the Christchurch stadium as he delightfully rolled his foot over the ball to beat one, jinked to his right to see off another, then slotted past the keeper with ease.

The game, top spot and a perfect record in the group was now sewn up, but Brazil kept on pushing forward, with one more coming from their efforts. Fellow substitute Andreas Periera drew a great save from In Hak, diving low to his right, but from the following corner he could do nothing. Leo Pereira drifted off to the far post in to space, before his header picked out the opposite corner to add some gloss to the evening's endeavours. A meeting with Uruguay in New Plymouth awaits. The FE were totally in control. Now that Awoniyi has scored, there would be less pressure on him. The Hungarians didn't come for a win though as they were too casual. I guess they dread the Germans or maybe they do not want an Euro vs Euro clash more or less like a continental tactic. Our main test would be against the Germans.

Just had a look at the fixtures. Nigeria vs Germany. If Nigeria wins, we meet an African team (Ghana or Mali) in the quarter finals.
This is sad because 3 strong African teams will be reduced to 1 in one fell swoop.

Nope. Winner of Germany vs Nigeria plays winner of Ukraine vs Senegal. Check again.

If these guys had drew or won brazil, will you be talking like this? Have they conceded a goal since then?

See ehn,.bros, no dey yarn this kain gist. Do you think Germany can't lose to us as well? Abi na only Germany dey win matches ni? yeah agreed but not an excuse for the worst performance. Atleast try to score and concede less na. Did they forgot ''parking the Marcopolo bus??'' it used to work for many teams.

Are Germany better than Hungary? Yes! They are the European champions. That's the only way to measure right now.
Can Nigeria beat Germany? Yes! Read my post again and you will find out I said that so many times. Seems you don't understand my point.
And please, leave God out of this.

This would be the 3rd meeting between Nigeria and Germany at this level.
The Flying eagles beat Germany 2-0 in Lagos in 1999, and lost 2-3 in 2009 at the round of 16.
