APC should honorably accept the defeat and congratulate Sen Bukola Saraki. Reasons why Sen Lawan would have lost are as follows : 1. 57 senators voted for Saraki. The total number of senators is 109. 109 minus 57 = 52. Therefore, Saraki would have still won by simple majority even if other APC senators were present. 2. In the House of representatives election for speaker, all the APC representatives were present yet APC could not register its authority as the majority party. Their anointed candidate still lost. 3. The presence of APC senators would not have changed anything. Already, the numbers of senators present at the election was more than the number required to form a quorum. So I feel in the spirit of sportsmanship, APC should congratulate the latest Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen Bukola Saraki. God bless Nigeria. |

Mogidi:With the mathematical illustration in my original post, it's clear Saraki would win that election even if it is conducted on the moon ten times. APC should do Goodluck, call Saraki and congratulate him. |

nationwide1:Can't fault your analysis, there was no way Tinubu was going to get his way. I heard APC senators were all genuinely happy Tinubu's stooge didn't win. |

Lawan won't even get 52 votes, remember senator Zanna is late. So it would have been 108 ![]() |

UnknownT:Out of 20 PDP senators present, 5 voted for Ekweremadu-- so a lot more could have voted for him if they were present.. |
