Northern Chiefs to Osinbajo: Draw a line between blind loyalty and
national duty
Northerners who can be identified as closed associates to President
Muhammadu Buhari, has told the Vice President, Prof. Yemi
Osinbajo, to draw a line between his blind loyalty to his former
boss, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and national duty or remain denied
access to sensitive and classified security information in the
presidency.
The advice was given today while reacting to what Osinbajo
described as act of being shortchanged.
"Everybody knows the VP has been loyal to Tinubu for decades and
he cannot swear that he would not divulge details of these security
meetings to his political boss.
"Tinubu may have uses his influence to put him in this position but
he must draw a line between blind loyalty and national duty,"
they opined.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, while reacting to the statement said,
it would be an act of disloyalty to start keeping things to himself
and leave Tinubu completely out of the system.
He said, "But I guess we are in the same party and believe in the
same ideology. Why now advising me to keep the hand that made
me in the pocket?
"Senator Bola Tinubu is not a traitor and cannot be kept long in
political obscurity; not even from my side."
Prof Osinbajo later advised the men not to see Tinubu as a threat
to the Presidency. Saying, no matter how long he's denied access to
classified security information in the Presidency, he cannot bite
the hand that has fed him in politics.
He further expressed displeasure in the statement credited to the
Chiefs that he was denied access to classified information because
he was a candidate promoted by Bola Tinubu (Ex-Lagos State
Governor), and was not handpicked by Buhari himself.
Prof. Osinbajo said, "That I was denied access based on who
presented me as VP is a complete political aberration in our party,
APC.
"Senator Bola Tinubu is a leader in our party and deserve to be
treated accordingly."
However, the Chiefs posited that if the President had picked a
vice, it is likely that such individual may get the access Osinbajo
isn't getting now.
