Or should Dedevbo be drafted as an assistant to Okon?

I do not give a fig about who takes over from the Okon of a guy but what changes the dude will undertake to make Falcons defeat Matildas. The position of the Falcon’s keeper needs modification as well as the right back and Midfield. The #10 and #1 suck.

Also, I am having a feeling that Okon is too bullish. I fear for a tactical defeat.

Matildas Vow to Clip Falcons’ Wings.

Head coach of Australia’s women’s national team Alen Stajcic says a win against Nigeria will be the “right tonic” for his side as they prepare to face Nigeria in their second game of the ongoing Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada on Friday.
He also added that he may make three chances to the side that lost 1-3 to the United States in their opening game of the competition.
The Matildas lost 1-3 to the United States in their opening game of the competition but will put their campaign back on track with a win over Nigeria’s Super Falcons..
Stajcic revealed in his press conference on Thursday that assistant captain Clare Polkinghorne who has been struggling with a hamstring problem will likely play against the African champions as will goalkeeper Lydia Williams who was identified as a doubt because of a thigh injury.
Also, Laura Alleway, who picked up a corked hip against the US, and key striker Lisa De Vanna (ankle) are both rated 50-50..
Stajcic is in bullish mood about his team's prospects against Nigeria after they managed not to concede a corner against the Americans and had more shots on target that the much-feared Americans.
But he was also realistic about the quality of their opponents in this World Cup's group of death, which also features fifth-ranked Sweden.
"We know we've got a tough game (on Friday against Nigeria).
“Beating them will be the right tonic for us but it won’t be easy.
"Nigeria showed they're a quality opponent and they were probably unlucky not to win that game against Sweden the other day.
"We all knew it was the group of death and I think it's an even better and tougher group than what we thought before hand,” he said.
Stajcic was flanked at the press conference by striker, Kyah Simon, who came on in the 69th minute against the US.
The attacker also weighed in on the upcoming clash against Nigeria explaining that her team-mates were determined to convert their solid first-half form to tangible results this time.
"Coming off a loss you obviously want to do better in the next game so the team is looking good.
"We're focused on our next opponents Nigeria and are going to go out and put in a performance like we did in the first half against the USA," she said.

Nigeria/Chad: Glo Propels Eagles, Falcons Against Chad, Australia
National Telecommunication operator, Globacom has called on the national teams, Super Eagles and Super Falcons, to go all out for victory in their respective football engagements this weekend.
While the Super Falcons will be in action this evening in the second Group D match against Australia at the ongoing 2015 Women World Cup in Canada, the Super Eagles will face Chad on Saturday for the 2017 African Cup of Nations ticket.
Globacom in a press statement in Lagos yesterday said outright victories will pave way for early qualification for the 2015 African Cup of Nations by the Super Eagles, and progression into the second round of the Women World Cup by the Super Falcons.
According to Globacom, victory is required as the battle for pride and glory in both competitions gather momentum. The Company urged the two teams to defeat their opponents and make this weekend a memorable one for football-loving Nigerians.
"The Super Eagles should work hard and defeat their opponent and move to commanding position in group G, while the Super Falcons should make their qualification for the second round easier by picking the three points at stake off Australia," the statement said.

We’re Ready for Australia –Oshoala.
Nigeria forward, Asisat Oshoala, has said the Super Falcons are prepared put up a good performance in their second Group D match against Australia in the FIFA Women’s World Cup holding in Canada.
Falcons had a relatively good start in the tournament on Monday drawing 3-3 against Sweden at the Winnipeg Stadium with Oshoala scoring Nigeria’s second goal.
In a video posted by thenff.com, Oshoala, who plays for Liverpool Ladies, said the Falcons are in high spirits and focused on the next match.
She said, “Playing Sweden was a good thing for us. This is because people feel African countries don’t really perform well at the World Cup. We told ourselves that we are coming to the World Cup to prove that we have a lot to give in Africa. We are not doing it just for ourselves; we are doing it for our nation and also for Africa.
“We played out our hearts against Sweden and at the end of the day it was a good game and a good result. As a team, we told ourselves we don’t have to give up and we don’t have to think we have arrived because we played 3-3 with Sweden.
“The second game is much more important than the first. The focus of the girls is on the next match. Everyone wants to win. The Australian side is a very good and tough side. The next game is our target and we are ready to give our best.”
Oshoala said the Falcons had adequate preparations for the World Cup which started with the African championship which they won and ended with a two-week training tour in the Canada, the country hosting the World Cup.
She added that the there is no difference between treatment the Nigeria Football Federation gives to the Super Eagles and what it gives to the Falcons.
“I don’t really see any difference between the Super Eagles and Super Falcons in terms of motivation and preparation. The girls are okay. We are happy. As you can see we went out on Monday and played out our hearts just to tell the word we are happy. We are happy in the camp ready to give our best.”

If the Falcons could not find a keeper more agile than Dede presently, then the fans should stop hyperventilating about the team's progression in this tournament. I had tried Ibubeleye at the post this time around. I noticed Dede did start the match with knee brace and she finished the match wearing one. Dede was simply unfit and should have been substituted.

Williams set to return for Matildas

Australia goalkeeper Lydia Williams will return to the starting line-up if she is fit when the Matildas take on Nigeria on Saturday morning (AEST).
A thigh injury ruled Williams out of the Matildas' World Cup opener against United States as Australia suffered a 3-1 loss.
Veteran shot-stopper Melissa Barbieri was "amazing" – according to coach Alen Stajcic – in the defeat.
But Williams will be back if she can prove her fitness, with that change set to be one of up to four.
"If she's fit, she'll start the game. We'll see how she goes," Stajcic said.
"I thought 'Barbs' did very well the other day. Her distribution was immaculate, her composure at the back, when you look back at the game she did a couple of good takes on crosses as well and she did really well."
The Matildas meet a Nigeria outfit that drew 3-3 against Sweden in their Group D opener.
Stajcic said there was no need to panic just yet for the Matildas, with four third-placed teams to advance from six groups.
"There's plenty of minutes left in this World Cup in the group stages, still 180 and anything can happen," he said.
"The fact four third-placed teams go through, I don't think it's make or break on this one game.
"It's 270 minutes that gets you through, not any individual 90 minutes, so you've got to really be composed and mature and really understand your position.
"It's almost like a home-and-away tie in a Champions League. Nothing is done and dusted after 90 minutes and the World Cup is the same.
"There's three group matches and top two go through and those third-placed teams are crucial as well. Every goal, every minute counts."

Coach keeps Matildas on toes at World Cup

Matildas coach Alen Stajcic is keeping his charges guessing before their vital Women's World Cup clash with Nigeria, hinting up to three changes could be made to the line-up that lost to the United States.
Australia's meeting with the African champions on Saturday morning (AEST) in Winnipeg, Canada, is crucial for the Matildas' hopes of progression after they dropped their tournament opener 3-1 to the Olympic gold medallists.
Stajcic indicated co-captain Clare Polkinghorne (hamstring) and goalkeeper Lydia Williams (thigh) would be fit to start.
Laura Alleway, who picked up a corked hip against the US, and key striker Lisa De Vanna (ankle) are both also still a chance.
Stajcic was optimistic about his team's prospects against Nigeria after they managed not to concede a corner against the Americans and had more shots on target.
But he was also realistic about the quality of their opponents in this World Cup's group of death, which also features fifth-ranked Sweden.
"We know we've got a tough game," Stajcic said.
"Nigeria showed they're a quality opponent and they were probably unlucky not to win that game against Sweden the other day.
"We all knew it was the group of death and I think it's an even better and tougher group than what we thought before hand."
Forward Kyah Simon, who came on in the 69th minute against the US, said her teammates were determined to convert their solid first-half form to the scoreboard this time.
"Coming off a loss you obviously want to do better in the next game so the team is looking good," Simon said.
"We're focused on our next opponents Nigeria and are going to go out and put in a performance like we did in the first half against the USA."

Nigeria 'has God on their team' as Super Falcons show religious unity at 2015 Women's World Cup
Winnipeg: According to Nigeria's coach Edwin Okon, his team will have more than the 11 players on the field when they face Australia in the Women's World Cup on Saturday morning (AEST) and that 12th person is not the support of the fans.
The charismatic and deeply religious coach of the Super Eagles says God is on Nigeria's side ahead of their Group D clash with the Matildas and believes his nation will reach the final of the World Cup with divine intervention.
At times it seemed more like a sermon than a pre-match press conference as Okon - a devout Christian - spoke in length about his beliefs in guiding his team to the latter stages of the tournament.
"Nigeria has God on their team, they are very serious about it. I will not joke about this in name of God especially. The morale of the team is very, very, very high. Because in the name of the father, God is with [Nigeria] and the players are aware of this," he said.
The spirit of the Nigerian team is soaring high after they achieved a dramatic 3-3 comeback over Sweden in their opening game. The confident Nigerians believe they can be the surprise champions having been the most dominant team in Africa's history and now catching the attention of the world.
"We are looking forward to the final, not even to the quarter-final stage because Nigeria has what it takes," Okon said.
A team full of flair, pace, creativity but lacking in defensive discipline, the Nigerians were dubbed as "unpredictable" by Matildas coach Alen Stajcic, which is a tag Okon agreed with. Though, instead of explaining the tactics of his side, Nigeria's coach says God controlled his team's style of play.
"Nobody can predict the Nigerian team. Only one man up there can predict the Nigerian team, which is the almighty God. He's in charge," Okon said. "They are fully determined and they are fully equipped with the power of the almighty father."
For all of his proclamation of faith to the media, there are signs that this Super Eagles team are uniting a nation fractured by sectarian troubles. Recent estimates of Nigeria's population suggest an almost even 50-50 split between Christians and Muslims but the 2015 Women's World Cup squad has displayed a strong spiritual bond despite differences.
The majority of the squad is Christian though the two known Muslim players joined in multi-faith gospel songs and dances performed at training grounds, venues and on team buses.
"We are one, Muslim, Christian ... we serve the same God," forward Francisca Ordega said. "You see the God, the spirit, I don't even know how to express it. That gives us joy, that gives us the spirit to enable to us to withstand any pressure and any tension. Dancing is our hobby but not just dancing but we sing, we give praise to God because we all believe in him and he's the one that keeps us going."
Australia's next opponents are popular among the stands with a strong contingent of Nigerian expats creating a loud, vibrant and unified contingent at games.

WINNIPEG – The Group of Death has become the group of entertainment.
Australia sits bottom of Group D after one match, but with Nigeria and Sweden only on one point apiece and the Super Falcons up next for the Matildas, there is not much clarity. And despite Nigeria’s strong attack, which could require defensive adjustment from Australia, Matildas coach Alen Stajcic is sticking to his guns.
“Certainly you have to win every game, so there’s no game that we are going to go into and sit back for a draw,” he said. “I said that before the tournament and I’ll stick to that. We’re a positive team, we’re an attacking team, we’re a good football team, we’re a modern team and we’re going to take that into the next game. You won’t see anything different in terms of approach.”
Stajcic was insistent that his team was the better side for most of the game against the United States, but “moments of magic won the game for America.” Bigger picture, Stajcic sees Group D as a miniature World Cup.
“I think the four teams could have easily been semifinalists if we were all in different groups,” he said Thursday.
Nigeria coach Edwin Okon says no team is a pushover, but he has big hopes for Nigeria.
“We are looking forward to the final,” Okon said confidently. “Not even the quarterfinal stage, because Nigeria has what it takes.”
Nigeria’s first-half performance against Sweden on Monday might suggest otherwise. The Super Falcons twice conceded on corner kicks and goalkeeper Precious Dede looked vulnerable throughout the match. Nigeria’s second-half performance was better, but defensively there are still issues.
“Back to the drawing board,” Okon says of set pieces. “We’ve been at the drawing board for some days.”
Stajcic says his goal is to get Australia to be a 90-minute team, having died off toward the tail-end of the match against the United States. Nigeria has the same issue on the opposite end, conceding twice in the first half against Sweden to go into halftime. Friday’s matchup could bring more of the same.
“They’re all 50-50 matches,” Stajcic said.
That’s exactly what keeps things fun in the otherwise mundane Winnipeg.

Falcons, Our Hope!
Super Falcons’ Skipper, Evelyn Nwabuoku and teammate, Francisca Ordega, are confident of defeating Australia in their next group match today to restore smiles back to the faces of Nigerians The Flying Eagles deflated the hopes of Nigerians when Germany sent them crashing after inflicting a 1-0 defeat.

Falcons, which held world soccer power Sweden to a 3-3 draw in their group opener, need a win to keep their qualification to the next round alive and the duo say they are going for broke against the Matildas.
“We thank God for the draw against Sweden but our focus is now on Australia. They are a very good side, they are fast and mobile but from what we have seen so far, we think they are beatable; we will approach the game tactically come Friday because we need all three points.
“After the display against Sweden, teams are now scared of us but that is not enough; we just have to work on our shortcomings also. I appeal to our fans to keep supporting us and praying for us because I am hundred percent sure that we will defeat Australia,” Nwabuoku said.
Similarly, scorer of Nigeria’s equalizer against Sweden, Francisca Ordega, said she intends to score more goals for Nigeria and also agreed with her captain that Australia will fall come Friday.
“Australia are a good side and play good football, coupled with experience but I believe we will come out victorious on Friday. Nigerians should expect more goals from me because I want Nigerians to be happy. My goal before coming for the World Cup is to score goals for my team and I believe I am working towards it. Come Friday, Nigerians should expect victory, nothing short of three points,” Ordega said.

If that happens, then they deserve alot more respect. BUT I am still very afraid of Edwin Okon and his self destruct button.

Look this one is even better in 2014 the girls didn't even know if they would be allowed to play they were sent off a plane infact, it is the Nigerian way, the girls expected this that is why they focused on their clubs which thank God for most are overseas and as you can see there is no lack in the form of this team. I dnt see no difference between their preparation and that of a mens team mostly its just a month they have before the male world cup.
