ya it is compulsory....as canada doesn't require any interview on most cases. Your SOP represents you and conquer all possible doubts the VO myt have. lt's a chance to explain yourself and also to show your uniqueness.....remember they deal with so many apps, so in your SOP....you show them what make you so special.
SOP is an optional document. It's not compulsory. I've seen some successful applications without SOP. We can't be 100% sure they even read all the SOP they receive. If your documents are not convincing, I don't think SOP can do much if your documents or case isn't right. It won't hurt constructing a good one either. My opinion.

@hayqinsbFX, you are smart guy and a lot of people have benefited from you on this forum and so I know your next app will scale thru- He who helps people shall never need to ask for help. He shall have it in abundance...

1. Purpose of Visit: Your pan B will sort this out! It's easy to understand that someone with a diploma is going for advance diploma, but with a BSc, it's difficult to sell. Please use the admission from Centennial college in your next app. Even though it is PGD, I am sure the VOs know that it's an upgrade to BSc.

2. Length of proposed stay: Again, the VO would have thought, "if he Akinbusola really wants to come back and take over his dad's affairs or work for the company, why spend 3 whole years? why not a 1 or two year program that will upgrade his degree/knowledge? why an advance diploma that is less than a BSc?"...So again, your centennial admission should take care of that.

3. Employment status: You submitted a study leave letter from your dad's company, but I can see you did not submit an employment letter and payslips to show that you have been working for your dad. I say this because it is not possible for a company to give a non-employee a study leave letter.
Please submit an employment letter and payslips in your next app to support your SOA.

4. Personal Asset: The employment letter and payslip can also help with this. If you don't have any other personal asset (like pension) to add, kindly provide supporting document to show that your Dad's asset will be willed to you...Also submit your own tax clearance card if you have one.

When did you graduate from Uni? What ever explanation you have to give in your SOP should only cover the period after school. You owe no one an explanation as to what you were doing when you were in school..it is obvious!

Also you need to explain why you have not gone for your NYSC and give reasons why you have decided to go to school before coming back for NYSC.

In all my dear, go through your SOP again and read it with the VO's eyes, then note down every question that comes to your mind from the VO's perspective and address/answer them-this is key!

I know you will make it this time, so long as you cover all gaps. In all my friend, the grace of God can never be over emphasised!!!

ciao!

i dey suspect u oh team12 e b lyk say u b VO urself.
Nice analysis

Will send you a quick email in 5 mins. It coming from my work email so please check ur junk as well. U can reapply so don't worry

@ hayqinsbFX,
I had a re-think about the email. I'm not a guru, neither am I a vo that gives visa. Don't know what the Vo's are thinking. However, after going through the sop I must say that it's not compelling enough. Your sop is ok but your choice of words is a bit off. If you can re-write it highlighting your career goal, academic goal, how the program will help u achieve your career goal. This is my humble opinion sir. No disrespect. I believe u will get it if u reapply. Takecare

I submitted the following for her:

1. Application for Visitor Visa made Outside of Canada (IMM5257E)
2. Copy of her passport data page and Visa pages
3. Her passport Photograph

Then you will have to fill "Use of a Family Member Representative for Online Applications (IMM5713E)" and upload with your app. The form authorises you to apply on your daughter's behalf.

modash:

which forms did you fill for your daughters app??

hayqinsbFX:
yeah @team12 all observation noted.

i just graduated october 2014.
in Truth i can only point at the advanced diplomas duration is my undoing.
@launrey also went for advanced diploma but its a 2year course and on the form where u need to input ur level of study he put certificate while i put diploma.
The lowest pre-requisite for his adv diploma is a BSC, while i gained admission with my high school certificates.

The centennial admission should sort it out, i would just try to tweak my statement of purpose relating my first application and my new program of study.

oh my bad....ya it isn't compulsory, lyk sm1 said it's necessary....l buy that. But why take chances when applying? since there ain't no interview (on most cases)....that's why l tagged it as b'n compulsory....hvn't seen any1 get their TRV without a convincing one but all the same, you myt hv seen one. ln my oppinion it's better to be SAFE than SORRY + dey do read SOPs as well as verifying all docs summited. Sops just hv to be intersting.

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by ahyotomiwa: 5:38pm On Jun 15, 2015
COMMON REASONS FOR DENIAL.
(INSUFFICIENT FUNDS....FOR STUDIES AND PERSONAL EXPENSES)
You have not shown proof that you have enough money to support yourself while studying in Canada.
(HEALTH AT THE MOMENT)
You have not passed the medical examination if one was required.
(HE FEELS YOU ARE LYING..NOT SATISFIED WITH UR STUDY MOTIVATION OR REASON)
You have not satisfied the visa officer that your primary intention in Canada is to study.
(HOME TIES)
You have not satisfied the visa officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your period of study.

A quote from "willxclusive" to someone who got rejected...(part of which i disagree n odas i agree)
I will give you rejection breakdown on the listed factors:

1, Travel History: Certainly you have not traveled out of Nigeria before and all of a suden, you wanna go for Diploma program in Canada. What is your motivation? A strongly worded reason should be stated in your study plan

2, Families: As a single man above the age of 21, you are considered an adult and a grown up who can live with or without his parents, also as a single man, you are considered a potential threat for immigration fraud by trying to get citizenship through contract marriage called (sham marriage), You poses the risk of overstaying. Based on the these facts, you need to go the extra mile to prove to the immigration officer that you cant do without you family, that you cant run away nor overstay. You need to show a strong tie to home country by means of real estate asset, family, employment or investment.

3, Purpose of visit: This is a very strong reason for rejection, if you apply 100 times, it will always be rejected for this reason: After a bachelor degree in computer science and with close to six years working experience in similar field which already made you a qualified professional in the field, so why going back for diploma program? The immigration officer would either think you are insane or you just wanna use that to move to Canada and never return. If you ever wanna show you are a bachelor degree holder, then you should consider going for master degree but if you have a reason to go for a diploma program, then your bachelor degree should be thrown in the trash and never mention in your application. Now, its too late, its mentioned and they have record of your document.

Lastly, Personal asset and financial status: how much do you have? since when? whats are your source or proof of income? whats your current monthly salary? how did you prove to return after study? what do you wanna return too? Putting myself in the position of an immigration officer, I have loads of unlimited questions to ask which you have not been able to answer in your application.

Reapply?
With the same diploma....
I am not thinking of doing that.
The graduate program would serve me in good stead.
I would make necessary corrections to my SOP I have recieved some samples which I would use accordingly
I just need to confirm if anyone has changed program and got his visa on d second attempt...

Everyone is allowed to change career path if they desire. I think they come up with this excuse based the the economic situation of our beloved country, where every youth is looking to elope.
To tackle this, the onus is on u to churn out a detailed letter describing why u looking to change course /career path at this time.

All other documents seem perfect. Purpose of visit is glaring: school, innit? So Whatelse do they want to hear or see. Yes, you are allowed to do phd, not everyone is psychologically or financially reason for masters or phd.

With this been said Sir, I would advise u focus on the sop. If you can answer these questions on the sop it might be of help

1) why the program
2) why are you looking to change career path
3) why pgd and not masters
4) how will ur skill be valuable to the Nigerian job market at this time. As employers in Nigeria are complaining that they lack skilled personnel.
5) why canada

These guys know that a lot of us won't come back. I see on most sop "I want to come back to Nigeria to set up an ngo, business or help the needy" so thinking out of the box is vehement.

A colleague wrote on his SOP. " a graduate without work experience isn't beneficial to an employer. As such, my short term plan after graduation is to work for 3 years in Canada, the international experience I must have gained in Canada coupled with my educational qualification will make me a valuable and sort after professional when I return back to my country in 5yrs" - DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. He was given the visa sha lol.

Greetings all!

Please, can I source info about PNP here on behalf of somebody?

If yes, a quick one then for starters.... One who has processed to the level of having even done his medicals, is asked to submit his child and wife's passport and all that, will the wife then be required to go do another passport being that the one she has currently is on her maiden name?

Thanks for referral or/and your guidance if any here. Great week ahead and much appreciation!

Any link, thought or idea pls.... Thanks, thanks!

I intend trigerring that as I feel the only reason I was delayed is for the duration of study.

Guys what do u think

The duration of your program has nothing to do with your denial. If e like make e be 20years. Think of this... You submitted a study leave letter from a company you are not employed in. If you are a V.O what does that tell you?

Hello house. I was in Standard Chartered Bank today and I was told that, they allow tuition payment with a naira account with them @ CBN exchange rate. The commission will be 0.5% of ur fee and the money will reflect over there within 24-48hrs. I hope this is helpful.
