PabloAfricanus: No, believe me you are the kid here. Nigeria is a lost cause; has been a lost cause since 1966. Every political structuring and maneuverings have been to preserve privileges secured from the win/loss of the war. The greatest lair is anyone trying to pass off other reasons for Nigeria's failure. I'm simply calling out your lies. |

lokoloko84: Why are you not so smart? The merger was 2014, we are in 2015 now, check your calendar. They have used him to achieve their objective. They have started frustrating him. They sent him on a wild goose chase. Buhari simply asked him to go and wait for him somewhere. Told him he was coming, waited in his residence till the selection process was done, then sent to your god that it's needless for him to come again since the whole thing has ended. Imam went ahead to say he would respect the decisions. Your god was left to react so angrily and made inconsequential remarks about recognition or no recognition, as if his recognition count for anything. His town crier, Lai Mohammed, was left foaming in the mouth. Tinubu is back to opposition. Starting all over again but this time without any coherent vision and with a handful loyal worshipers like you. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

carnegiefan:I beg to disagree. Since the end of the civil war, the Igbos are yet to produce a president. Atleast even the Yorubas are back at the center after less than a decade of OBJ's exit. The same burdens of bad leadership are SHARED by all Nigerians...so I dont get the point about "We are individually masters of our own fates.". A simple change in policy from Aso rock would make your brothers trading across Nigeria resume the old marginalization anthem. And there is nothing you can do about it. Sorry but the facts indicate that the Igbos have no visible game as far as Nigerian politics is concerned. It would have been you Igbos who should have sold the GEJ campaign to the North and the West. You guys were the most favoured in the GEJ presidency...the lot fell on you to make sure he returned. Even it had to entail wooing your perceived "enemies". The results speak for themselves... All in all...what Nigeria needs is a function government...irrespective of ethnic origin. The sooner we work towards that...the better for everyone. 2 Likes 1 Share |

PabloAfricanus: It's easy to talk now with the benefit of hindsight. That period was a state of heightened fear and uncertainty. Many decisions were rushed, with untoward consequences. For instance, Awo could not have toed the line of secession because the Yorubas were not prepared for war. In the last meeting Awo had with Ojukwu, he pointed out to Ojukwu about the unpreparedness of the Western Region. He asked Ojukwu for two weeks to consult with his people, after all he understood he could never force anything on them. Awo was still en route to the West when he heard about Ojukwu's declaration of the new state of Biafra! You see, there was no way Awo would trust Ojukwu, if he could not have Awo in confidence. Awo knew immediately after Ojukwu's declaration that Ojukwu no longer needed him, which effectively destroyed any further possible alliance. |

Truckpusher: You obviously don't know what the hell you're talking about. There was a reason why I labelled Buhari as "Nigerian Abraham Lincoln" and "The Reagan era", and there was also a reason why I never said "Sai Buhari" in any of my posts before, during, and after the election. I knew what it was about but I just wanted regime change. No matter what happens during this administration - it will never be as bad as GEJ's. GEJ should never rule a local council, that was how poor he was. Heck, even during GEJ's tenure - he also placated them. The only difference is that they have absolute powers now, after taking all the three arms of government. They also control the ports, military, and just added Accountant General to it. And they will make it a slum-dunk if they can take finance, and aviation ministries (Buhari is going to head the petroleum ministry). Anyway, I was just waiting to see if Tinubu can play a blinder - but he's just hype and no substance when it comes to Fulani hegemony based on the current scores. Anyway, you better warn ya folks not to deny them their food in the SS - else, all of you will be wrapped up in body-bags. 3 Likes |

carnegiefan: Subtly changing the goal post are we? Are we discussing Nigeria's failure only here? The Igbos were the bedrock of GEJ's administration...that cannot be argued. What were the gains for the SE? Atleast the glaring lack of infrastructure in the SE could have been attended to. Who held the hands of your SE politicians? What special attention did they give to the SE? OBJ was able to secure the addition of oil wells to Ondo territory, moved the LNG production plants to you know where... Even Buhari as PTF chairman favoured the North exclusively...with no apologies. Sanusi during his tenure at CBN was distributing the goodies across the emirates. The SE were gamed again and again on a mere cross over bridge both by OBJ and GEJ. FYI, Tinubu's name is etched on the annals of Nigerian politics. The personalities who schemed and strategized to bring Buhari to Aso Rock will be remembered in vivid details a hundred years from now. What will be the story of your cash and carry politicians? I dont mean to taunt...just urging you to stop pointing fingers! 1 Like |

PabloAfricanus: Please go back and reread this OP article because it says it all. THERE IS NOTHING THAT IGBO COULD HAVE SAID OR DONE to stop Yoruba and Fulani connivance to oust the hapless minority president. We were called all types of names for defending the poor guy, but you guys were short sighted and ruthless! Your cargo has arrived. Please clear it sharp sharp from the wharf. 1 Like |

Volksfuhrer: I disagree. Awo knew very well what was at stake. To exonerate him of not knowing where the Igbo pogroms was leading would be selective amnesia. The Yorubas lost top leaders too...Ademulegun, Shodeinde and even the hated Akintola could not have been unavenged. You seem to forget that. Ojukwu never planned for war too. The build up to war just happened. And mind you reports had it that Nzeogwu and co had intelligence on the importation of arms and plans to launch a jihad by the Sardauna...something very similar to today's Boko Haram. And even worse...that Akintola, Ademulegun, Balewa and other elites were neck deep in the plot. It was speculated the January boys struck a few days to the showdown to avert that. There was a reason why Nzeogwu was given a full military burial during the war. Awo knew what's up...and the Yoruba elders were either cowered into submission by the Murtala and his angry crew or were advised by the British to drop any secessionist ideas. I don't really know. But the fact remains that, Awo knew where it was headed. He had been contacted and offered support. My guess is that he followed the advise of the British envoys and supported Gowon. As to readiness...thats a story for another day. |

Shymm3x:Of course , all you wanted was a regime change becasue it seems to favor you in the long run which you guys anticipated and made sure it worked but alas they just showed you their true intent. Don't bother ya head about the Niger Delta because for each tanker load of that precious gold that gets lifted we are sure to bunker something close into our personal pockets and still collect our lion share from the national treasury. Read my lips Tinubu has been used and about to get dumped and if he makes too much noise I'll advice he should call up the spirits of Abiola and all the rest of them , let them tell him how they took their bitter pills from these people. You never disliked Jonathan because he didn't perfom , you only wanted him out the way to let the status quo remain and get a better deal but it backfired and you can't be trusted by fellow southerners and the North wouldn't want to play into ya hands after screwing you over and over and again. Menh.......you guys are truly sophisticated after all. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

MrPresident1: Nobody marginalised the yorubas under Gej. The yorubas were compensated for 8 solid years with a highly corrupt Obasanjo regime. That regime created the likes f otedola, wale tinubu , GLO jimoh etc, exploding the numbers of yoruba captains of industries. How do you expect the same yorubas to assume more prominent ministries than the SS and the SE under jonathan knowing very well that it was a rotational presidency? Na only yorubas waka come Nigeria? 1 Like |

I don't see this country becoming a truly united one country with everyone and every ethnic fighting for personal interest. The fulanis always want power and did everything to ridicule GEJ's administration including the Chibok girls scam. They got most people to hate Goodluck and got everyone shouting change. Soon, tribes will start crying of being marginalized. True change can only come when Nigerians start believing in Nigeria. When all we fight for is Nigeria and not ethnic group nor geo political zones. Otherwise, let's go our different ways. Nigeria exist only on map but we all belong to our different nations in our heart. Let's live as one and see if we will not rule the world. |

Perhaps this would be the last time the yorubas will be betrayed by the the northern oligarchs, if things pan out the way they are currently. Perhaps there will be the realization that the country is fragmented along strong ethnic lines and needs to be dissolved for the good of all. Alternatively, the SW will realise they are more secured with an alignment with the SE ,SS and moderate NC. The real test of this alignment is an igbo presidency. This will forge unity and enhance trust. AT LEAST U KNOW THE IGBO MAN WILL NOT BETRAY U |
Re: The Fulani Solidarity And Betrayal Of Bola Tinubu By Remi Oyeyemi by Rawani: 5:29am On Jun 16, 2015 |
Interesting perspectives. What I don't understand is why the Yoruba are being presented as having lost out in the power equation when that is clearly not the case. Furthermore not every northern name you hear is Fulani or NW. The South seems to forget that the north is made up of 3 GP zones. Tinubu's influence had to be whittled down. The end game is two pronged - gain substantial control of the APC; and hijack and return the PDP to its birthplace. Saraki, Tambuwal, Yerima and the remaining nPDP members will return to their original party after they have reclaimed it from the SS/SE. Kudos to Shymm3x and MrPresident1 for elevating the level of this discourse. |
