patches689: It would be a great political move acquiring KC-390.In terms of airlift a combo of 4 A330 MRTT and 10 A400M from Airbus would the best. |

ssaengine:You should probably stop skipping your meds. Zuma has spent the money meant for SAAF transports on his own largesse. This has been widely discussed. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 9:50am On Jun 19, 2015 |
ssaengine:The KC-390 is a new airlift and although i trust embrear, military air-lift is new territory for them. Until proven and adopted by the brazilian air force, i don't see potential foreign buyers looking in that direction. The AN-132 and AN-188 look way more promising than the KC-390. You mix of transport planes is also absurd. The A-400m and C-130j are the most likely replacement for SAAF's ageing fleet. |

Henry120:The SAAF needs "medium and light" transport aircraft. Example: A400M and the C-27. The A400M will support missions in Africa. While lighter aircraft supports missions within the country. Another need is for long range maritime patrol. |

agaugust:Nigeria is already leading the race of one military that left its own country of birth to seek refuge to another foreign country. With SANDF such has never happened and will get you guessing and guessing and ultimately making no sense. @Agau we have no history of running to Botswana under assault by enemy forces. Nigeria held that record of having their entire 4000 troops running to another country and that was done not once but twice. SANDF might be walloped thousands of miles away from their country of birth because of their limited firepower, but that cannot happen at home, where all our inventory is held. NEVER. Boko humbled Nigerian military at home, confiscated their vehicles, robbed them of their bases, held soldiers and subjected them to slavery as POEs, forcefully grabbed the land, owned and even raped soldiers' wives and daughters kidnapped from abandoned bases, burned down half of the towns of the entire NE, etc. BH has made a gain that would have never been allowed to happened under the strong army. Even SANDF that you are calling names would have never allowed such to happen. The world knows one thing and that is "NIGERIA HAS NO CAPABLE ARMY TO TACKLE BOKO HARAM." They even know how you went on to recruit South Africans to defeat BH. SANDF has never pressed charges against its troops for behaving in a cowardly manner during engagement with an enemy. The only army in Africa which has so far done so is Nigerian army which has held numerous marshal courts to sack those soldiers which evidently exhibited cowardly behavior during BH confrontation. Some of whom were even reported to have played sick just to avoid confrontation with the enemy. All that I am highlighting are facts, except your fallacious claims levelled against SANDF. All that we have been reading were abstract submission from your world of fantasy. Your words are unsupportive of any source and the UN also dismissed it as just a junk trying to impress media frenzy. |

MikeCZAR:Last month Airbus visited Pretoria and presented to them A33MRTT, A400M and C295. It now looks set that SANDF will finally sign on the dotted line to acquire any of the aircrafts aforementioned. http://www.saairforce.co.za/news-and-events/1352/airbus-talking-to-saaf-on-a400m-a330mrtt-and-c295 |

Henry120:I guess that's because we buy brand new from the box and we will have to wait for production. Unlike Nigeria which always have to opt for second hand me down materials. Second hand goods are always readily available in the market and are meant for unfortunate countries like Nigeria. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 10:49am On Jun 19, 2015 |
FighterPilot:Just like your second hand C-130s. |

agaugust:I want you to be very clear - what shows us to be cowards? Choose your words very carefully - because you are walking on very thin ice. Also, when did Burundian rebels walk into an SANDF base and rob it? |

Henry120:You should probably learn to read - new VIP transports were budgeted for in 2014/15 |

| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 1:12pm On Jun 19, 2015 |
Henry120:Blah blah blah Project Biro was shelved for the majority of the time that you claim it was active. The need for Project Biro was identified a long time ago yes, but more important needs were identified which took precendance |

MikeCZAR: All UN Peacekeepers allowed to fight in self-defence. United Nations law of peace keeping : http://www.un.org/en/peacekeeping/operations/principles.shtml Nigerian troops were suddenly attacked in the dark black night without warning in same Sudan, the Naija Ninjas fought back like warriors using the UN law of self defence, refused to surrender, they were heavily out-numbered and had only AK-47 rifles and a few other light arms, no armoured combat vehicles, no heavy equipment, no air support, nobody waited for orders from UN, the law of right to self defence was applied by Nigerian troops. The overwhelmed and out-numbered Nigerian platoon refused to surrender. 33 Nigerian soldiers bled and died. About 100 Nigerian soldiers fought 1,000 Sudanese army backed militia that completely surrounded our base in October 2007. http://www.sudantribune.com/spip.php?article24084 South African army in Sudan with 800 troops, bigger than a battalion, has the right to defend itself against just 500 Sudanese troops, but chose to surrender if attacked, accepted defeat before the battle started, trembled and shook like jelly fish because they saw Sudanese Toyota Hiluxes, carrying men on patrol for Ramadan....COWARDS....SANDF....COWARDS OF AFRICA ! LOL....yet you criticize Nigerian army in Boko Haram war, at least we fight before we retreat, Nigerian army NEVER surrendered ! SANDF decided to surrender if Sudanese skinny boys fire one bullet....COWARDS born in Soweto If South African army fights a one year war today, all their 50,000 troops will surrender in batches of 800 soldiers per week ! PHOTO : NIGERIAN ARMY IN SUDAN...REAL FIGHTERS, REAL WARRIORS !.

patches689:Zuma has already spent the money meant for Transport planes. Anyway, why do I care, SAAF still lags behind NAF in that category. |

| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:26pm On Jun 19, 2015 |
agaugust:1. around 250 troops surrounded by 500 2. Did not choose to surrender if attacked - instead they prepared for combat 3. The story has, in anycase, been denied by multiple sources (and your own country-men agree it is either exaggerated or fake) Augustus, you are pathetic o, and from your own source: In the weekend attack, the AU post of 157 peacekeepers and support staff was overrun by some 1,000 Darfur rebels. Three other African troops were also killed, and three Nigerians are missing. http://www.sudantribune.com/spip.php?article24084 hmmm.... seems you had your own little "bangui" incident there!! You have humiliated yourself again like you did with the infamous fishing boat incident And your right, you Nigerian army does not surrender - because to surrender you have to wait to meet your opponent, your soldiers are normally long gone before the enemy arrives https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VxPJCkozEE |

| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:30pm On Jun 19, 2015 |
Henry120:Yes, we know, because you say so Clear in black and white: SAAF transports have been budgeted for in the future. Clear in black and white: New VIP transports were budgeted for last year You know that each financial years budget are separate right? I know why you make these allegations, Nigeria makes do with refurbished death traps, while SAAF is planing on getting new advanced transports - it must hurt |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 4:34pm On Jun 19, 2015 |
patches689:Patrick where are the new SAAF Transport planes? In 2013, you made same claim, same as 2014....... "abi the next year no dey reach?". |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:38pm On Jun 19, 2015 |
Henry120:This is the first time that the SAAF has specifically budgeted for their aquisition. SAAF is not NAF - new aircraft need to be studied and assessed as to whether or not they intergrate with other platforms and our doctrine (you know that thing you dont have), this takes time. Badger was in development since 2007 - contract was only signed last year |
