You are a bloody liar without conscience. Where were you when GEJ removed fuel subsidy in 2012 and some brainwashed people kicked against the policy, that it was anti-masses?
removal of subsidy was not the problem bro, it was making our own refineries work. Don't get it twisted. If they had maintained subsidy removal way back, price of petrol will still sell above #140/litre now, and I'm sure it will be scarce to even find because marketers won't want to import again cos their means of corruption(subsidy) has been taken away.

What some of you fail to see is that this refinery has been in existence and working idling just to pave way for the subsidy scam to thrive. See, the sabotaging in GEJ''ls administration is so enormous that they sold d idea to GEJ and he bought into it as well. Now we can say subsidy is indeed a scam. Why all of a sudden refineries are now working. because baba wuf definitely find out about the lies and scams.

God is watching u people in power o

hahahahahahaha i thought the GEJ led adminstration said it wont be possible until 2017, they must have been feeding Jonathan with the wrong information, these refineries have always been working, they use the refineries to refine their own crude and sell it to back to marketers with subsidy still being paid on it, No wonder Buhari said subsidy is a scam, you can imagine the federal govt hasnt even pay them or said anything and see as oil is flowing .

You dey mind them? Late last year, the company I worked for did minor routine repairs on Warri Refinery; I was at Warri Refinery for the job and marveled at the rate of production. The plant was producing at 80% capacity! None of those locally produced fuel are accounted for; they are all recirculated as imported products and the FG pays subsidy on it again.

Peeps don't know the type of scam Denziani and GEJ are: they were all part of the scam!

The spokesperson of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr Ohi Alegbe says that Nigeria's four refineries - two in Port Harcourt, one in Kaduna and the other one in Warri will resume production next month. “The refineries at Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna will resume next month after a successful turn- around-maintenance (overhaul) of their facilities. The turn-around-maintenance has been on for some time . We did not just want to make any noise about it. The refineries will start production as soon as they have delivery of crude oil for refining,” . Amen!

Refinary in kaduna is dia oil in north?

Did you not hear the northern governors said that the 13% derivation from crude oil paid to the oil producing states should be stopped, and instead bring it down to 7% (at most) and all hydrocarbon drilled off the continental shelf of any water should not be recorded to any state but directly to the FG to be shared equally among all states? You can imagine greed and cheer selfishness. This should tell you why they have refinery in far north as if they have oil there.

And before I continue....a word of apology to PDP/GEJ supporters here.Looks like they were really fixing the refineries. Good job from the PDP.

Still...in my opinion, we need more new refineries. And somehow.....we need to prepare for the no oil future by investing heavily in science and technology. Especially as we already have a car that can run on hydrogen cells alone (and produces steam as exhaust....).

Unlikely, gej would have done a highly publicised precommissioning exercise.this is the fear of pmb

This your project management theory is not applicable in all situations. Stop telling us lies here. From your analogy, it means no matter the nature of a project, it can be executed in the less possible period of time as low as 2/3 weeks (as it's in this case). I now ask you this, why do a giant construction firm like Julius Berger not use 2months to start and complete a 20km road construction contract (with all the facilities and materials in their disposal) since they can fasten up beyond the required time?

Time is always a major factor in any project and there are projects you cant minimise time beyond what is required of. Refurbishing a long time dead petroleum refinery can never be a two week project no matter how snappy you think you can be.

The TAM have been delayed for dumb ass reasons since Yar'Adua died.

They didn't start the TAM until Oct 2014, 'cause elections were coming up in Feb 2015.

They said TAM would take 18 months ( to be completed in April 2016).

Questions . . .

Why are they all completed 10 months ahead of schedule?

Why would TAM maintenance in 2015 take 18 months, when it took just 5 months to get Warri refinery back online in 2000, when it was affected by fire?

Answer:

They were lying, TAM normally takes few weeks to couple of months for the size of refineries we have (100-150k BPD).

GEJ was around for 5 years and the refineries did not work.

NNPC bosses realise that there is a new sheriff in town. It means that the refineries only had minor problems and that is an indictment on NNPC.

and you will say you went to school.. na wa o..so d refineries fox themselves...or you a just being plain mischievous such that you are not ready to acknowledge that the NNPC man said the repairs has been on going for a while.
give credit to whom it is due
During the campaigns, GEJ said the repairs of these refineries has been awarded and will start producing by August.

[quote author=iamkunleajayi post=34921867]Nigeria’s Four Refineries To Begin Operation Next Month – NNPC

Nigeria’s four refineries will resume production next month, spokesperson of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has said.
Ohi Alegbe on Thursday said the four refineries – two in Port Harcourt, one in Kaduna and the other one in Warri will be fully operational from next month.

Speaking to AFP, Alegbe said “the operations resume after a successful turn-around-maintenance (overhaul) of their facilities”.
“The turn-around-maintenance has been on for some time. We did not just want to make any noise about it. The refineries will start production as soon as they have delivery of crude oil for refining,” he said.
His statement raises hope of an end to perennial petrol shortages that have plagued Africa’s largest crude producer.
The NNPC has four refineries — two in Port Harcourt in the south, one in northern Kaduna and another in southern Warri, with a combined installed capacity of 445,000 barrels per day.

A network of pipelines and depots located throughout the country link these refineries.
Nigeria produces a massive two million barrels of crude oil a day, but has to export it due to a lack of working refineries. It then imports fuel back into the country at international market prices — a situation blamed on corruption and mismanagement.

To cushion the blow on the general population, the government sells fuel on the streets at subsidised prices, and makes up for the higher amounts spent by importers by reimbursing them the difference — a system seen as rife with false claims and overpayments.
Last month, a crippling fuel shortage almost grounded Nigeria to a halt, as fuel importers and marketers shut their depots to protest some $1 billion (900 million euros) in unpaid reimbursements.

Black market and legitimate petrol vendors did a brisk trade, selling at around 300 naira ($1.5; 1.3 euros) a litre — well above the officially-set price of 87 naira.

In January 2012, the government tried to end the subsidies, causing petrol prices to more than double. It was ultimately forced to reinstate the payments after tens of thousands of people took to the streets in violent protests that left more than a dozen dead.

Alegbe said the resumption of refinery activity “will significantly improve the supply of petroleum products in the country.”

So it has been oil fraud over these years? Why is it possible now, what has been impossible over the years? Fear of Buhari may be the answer. okay o o.. Noted.

In a nutshell, the reviving/revamping project started when GEJ was still in power which is the argument here. Not like i'm of the school of thought credence for a successful execution of this project be accorded to him (GEJ) nor Buhari, but the project obviously started when he was in power which is why he cant just be written off like that as far as the project is concerned.

From August 2015, NNPC should start building retail outlets at least 2 every high street. They should compete with TOTAL, Conoil, Oando, Mobil etc.

I see fuel being sold at 35naira by the time Buhari stabilise the sector.

Sai Buhari
That's what we are saying. Imagine NNPC having sales outlet scattered around the country. If NNPC sells to Nigerians at #35/ltr one can expect the likes of Conoil, Total, Oando and the rest to sell between #40 and #60 per litre. That would be wonderful. Nigeria will get there one daysmiley
