One of the most curious building in Japan is the Gate Tower Building in Osaka, Japan. The 5th, 6th and 7th floors of this 16-story office building is occupied by an express highway - passing right through the building. The highway does not make contact with the building, and a structure surrounding the highway keeps noise and vibration out.

kai I can't just say anything. this is beautiful and this is where brain works. Am not really really surprised because to become the president of China or Japan, u must have PhD in engineering and that helps u think for 20years. but in Nigeria, u can become president even if u read eatery if only u have money to bribe. hence mod projects

Awesome doesn't even begin to describe the building.

Look where other countries are heading and here we still dwell on useless sentiments bordering on tribe and religion, with one Arabisala, who one supposes should know better, stoking such flames.

God help us.

When I see stuffs like this, I am ashamed for Nigeria. I feel shame for our current state.
We don't have any reasonable thing to show for all the oil money we have spent over the past years.

Good thinking, good product.

And to think this nation was in almost total ruins after WW2 beats my imagination.

I'm just yet to see what concerns Femi Aribisala with this thread. Maybe someone can show me.

why? Are you age mates with Japan? (nation wise)? Would you also look at Dangote 's three private jets or Wale Tinubu's mansion and be ashamed of your self? After all you are all Nigerians. Appreciate a good thing and leave it at that. You don't have redistribute your cynicism or depression.

The road actually passes through three floors in the building. It does not rest on the building and the building does not rest on it. The road was made after the government and the building owners could not reach an initial agreement. The government wanted to destroy the building for the highway and the owners disagreed.

By the way, did you know that James Buchanan: the 15th president of the US never married. His niece: Harriet Lane, served as first lady during his tenure.

The only people who used them first ATM's were prostitutes and gamblers who did not want to meet face to face with the bank tellers.

Crocodiles can climb trees. And horses can sleep standing. From 1644 till 1646, England had a “Witchfinder General" who travelled round the country in search of witches and sorcerers.

OVERVIEW

- The building has a double core construction, with a circular cross section. The Umeda Exit of the Ikeda Route of the Hanshin Expressway system (when exiting the highway from the direction of Ikeda) passes between the fifth and seventh floors of this building. The highway is the tenant of those floors. The elevator passes through the floors without stopping: floor 4 being followed by floor 8. The floors through which the highway passes consist of elevators, stairways and machinery. The highway does not make contact with the building. It passes through as a bridge, held up by supports next to the building. The highway is surrounded by a structure to protect the building from noise and vibration. The roof has a helipad.

and in zimbabwe, you can be the world's most educated president and 6 million Zimbabwean dollars would be used to buy a biscuit, what you said is sensless, should a country be all about infrastructure alone or can't a country have ministers and administrators that have PHD in Engineering? The ruler of Dubai,Sheikh Muhammad Makhtoum never studied Engineering, yet he's city has better infrastructures than Tokyo
