Imo Poly To Award Degree Certificate, State College of Education Gets Backing Posted by admin on May 4th, 2015 Members of the Imo State House of Assembly. In its resumed plenary recently, unended the law establishing the Imo state Polytechnic Umuagwo, the amendment they said was to enable the State Polytechnic begin the award of Bachelor of Technology Degree (B. Tech), as well as its usual Higher National Diploma (HND) to its graduating students. In his appeal to his colleague Hon Luke Chukwu representing Ohaji/Egbema state constituency argued the House to accord the bill every necessary support, noting that upgrading the institution would no doubt shore up the credibility of the institution and make it more attractive, even beyond the state, as he revealed that necessary platforms and structures for the immediate take-off have been put in place. Hon Simeon Iwunze described the Imo Polytechnic amended bill as world class, submitting that such action would give the institution a great leverage among its contemporaries in the country. The bill later scaled through to the third reading. Other issues that got mention during the plenary include the amendment of the law establishing the proposed Turkish University and re-named it Imo State Claretian University Onumo-Okigwe. Hon Ikenna Emeh of Isu State constituency supported the change of name following the alleged non-commitment of the Turkish stakeholders/Partners, adding that the Claretian Missionary has shown more interest in partnering with the state toward the establishment and take-off of the University. Also, the House amended the law establishing the Imo State college of Education (Technical) to become the Imo State College of Education Ihitte Uboma. Hon Simeon Iwunze representing Isiala Mbano State constituency explained that amendment of the bill will give the institution a wider scope, both in admission and in attracting the necessary logistic needed for its sustenance. http://www.imotrumpeta.com/?p=14016 |

RareDiamond: Did you read my exclamation above regarding that industry news? - a governor to lay foundation for 26 industries immediately; ask church to acquire land where the church can build a University to admit students in September - we are in June - perhaps RareDiamond can take in such a story. As for presence of government social infrastructure, Okigwe is by far more developed than Orlu. Somebody who is in SA for long and has not recently visited both towns may not know. 2 Likes |

Okorocha Woos Investors with $2m, Free Land May 30, 2015 : Uche Onyema, Owerri Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has promised interested industrialists and investors an assistance of $2m and plots of land to any investor, who will invest in the state. He stated this on Friday at the Imo International Convention Centre, during a dinner to mark his second term inauguration in office. Okorocha said, “We are willing to give $2m, parcels of land and other incentives to attract industrialists to our state, so that our youths can get jobs. Industry plus factory equal to wealth creation; that is what we are going to do.” He explained that the state government was having crucial talks with industrialists from Turkey and South Africa to build factories in the state. The governor added that Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Chief Jerry Chukwueke and Chief Tony Chukwune, among those that recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, had promised to build two industries each in the state. http://www.punchng.com/news/okorocha-woos-investors-with-2m-free-land/ 1 Like |

asha80: I am yet to understand your point. The factory is located right after his campaign office as you can clearly see on the 1st pics. I thought you were from Imo State. Why are you not building yours? Mine is ongoing too as we want to support Okorocha's efforts. Finally only Nnewi people built many industries in their town. Orlu people equaly did even though less than Nnewi. Jacobs wines, Decorkote, Campharm, Consolidated breweries that produces 33 and Legend as well as many pharmaceutical and oil processing companies are there. So I do not get your point of pretending there were no industries in Imo State even before 1999. You should only support the fact that more needs to be done to curb unemployment not only in Imo but in Nigeria. 2 Likes |

Imo Govt. demands employment quota for Imo graduates at Nigerian Breweries The Imo State Government has urged the management of Nigerian Breweries to employ more qualified indigenes to compensate the enabling environment it has created for corporate businesses to thrive and to actualise government’s policy thrust on industrialisation and job creation. Governor Rochas Okorocha stated this while receiving the Corporate Affairs Adviser of the Nigerian Breweries (NBL) Plc and his team at the Government House, Owerri. The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Sir Jude Ejiogu, said the establishment of the Nigerian Breweries Plc plant at Awo-Omama was apt, especially now that government is poised to transform the State into the China of Nigeria. He thanked NBL team for their contributions in developing the state through their corporate social responsibility and urged NB and other existing companies in the state to map out certain quota of employment opportunities for Imo graduates who are qualified in relevant fields, while assuring them that government would beef up security in Awomamma and its environs as well as help the company stabilise its operations. “Imo youths are knowledgeable enough, this is our opportunity to get them gainfully employed,” he said. Okorocha recalled the high level of insecurity in the state during the PDP administrations which has become a history as the Rescue Mission has beefed up security of lives and property in the State, making Imo “a safe and peaceful place for investors.” He promised to make a tour of the Nigerian Breweries in the State and assured them of government’s continued partnership as he added, “Imo government will benefit in IGR increase and we shall help your company stabilise.” http://www.newsexpressngr.com/news/detail.php?news=12284&title=Imo-Govt.-demands-employment-quota-for-Imo-graduates-at-Nigerian-Breweries 2 Likes |
