Raping Ife is a tragic poem of rape and sincere regret. The speaker is obsessed with the beautiful damsel, IFE, and his love gives way for lust. Ife was coy, he heartlessly rapes her in spite of pleading and tears. He had always imagined Ife as a woman that has slept with many men, but he finds out the maiden was but a virgin before his evil act. After the rape, the unclothedness he has sought for a million years is bare before him. He has eaten the woman, and eaten guilt along.
As Ife begins to cry on her blood, the speaker is beclouded with remorse... He regrets his act and curses himself. He begs Ife to forgive him and at the same time, he says he doesn't want to be forgiven. He cries out his eyes and at the end of the poem, he takes his life.
