the only thing I saw is ABO earning 330k/mth
Abi is ABO no more the level after ET? embarassed
What do BOs and SBOs now earn in that your bank? Guy fear God ooo grin
We are interested in that your bank o.
Make everybody submit application there.

Anyway, so many people have combined both and are still combining it.
The trick is getting a school close to your residence, someone would give you notes and assignments. If you have developed a good relationship with your boss, granting you permission to write exams wouldn't be a hard nut to crack.

You might not gain the necessary knowledge, you would just have a 'Masters'.

Why u displaying ignorant like this? I pity ur poverty level o... I also work in first tier bank and my pay is =N= 3.6 million naira per annum after removing tax.... Banks pay ain't say.

Sweetie, pity your poverty level first. You have nothing on me as far as finance is concerned (or any other ramification_ including brains). Let that sink into your subconscious kiss

You work in First tier bank, and I am displaying ignorant?

Hehe, work on your grammar first babe. Stop embarrassing your institution and First tier bank.

330k/month in a bank after working for two years? I don't want to be rude or nosy but I do feel this is a BIG LIE.

The two girls fighting above on nothing........nawa oooo! naija girls sha, they won't stop forming! keep ur whalas to your self.

@op, nice to see a basic medical scientist blazing trail in the banking sector, i would advice you to put in for any available conventional uni around abuja and make sure its PART TIME OO cos FT can be so demanding. i heard Nassarawa state uni pg form was out a month ago. You can still check. And If you can make it to UNILORIN MBA SCHOOL, it won't be a bad idea ooo, only that you would offer PT or Executive, quite flexible.. We full time paid 100k for first year while PT was 120k..form closes July 19th.. All the best bro!

Which area of Banking? Marketing? TROPS? ICU? Operations? Whatever! It's doable! Masters, PGD, professional Examinations... Then PHD. Get on with it! I did my masters regular, but luckily enough, my lectures were Fridays and Saturdays. I did a PG program, which was mostly weekends and in between I dealt with CIBN which is still ongoing. Now, it's PHD. It has been exceptionally tough, but it's doable. Trust me.

Now, this is just awesome!

Best Advise so far plus i do not believe he became an ABO after 2yrs plus if this is how banks promote, everyone will be at mid to senior management level by now.......On average, promotion comes every 4 - 5yrs in a typical Nigerian bank...............8/10

Dats a lie jare. Bank job isn't like dat. As long as u meet and exceed ur target, u getting promoted. New generation banks promote every yr. I know of tier one bank dat promotes twice a year.

A big thank you to everyone for their advise, it's sure kept me busy since the comments started tumbling in as I never expected this to hit frontage. I'm really grateful guys, you have being of great help.

And to those who feel offended by the contents of my original post or those that think I'd come to an online forum to lie about my career, well I have nothing to prove to anyone, cynicism don't get nobody far in life.

Once again, thanks everyone, two (oh, maybe in this case, a hundred) heads are sure better than one.

Will definitely give feedback on whatever I decide eventually. Thanks a lot, it's been a wonderful learning experience.

I'm guessing Heritage Bank.

He should do his MBA at National Open University. That's his best bet if he wants to combine schooling and working without the stress of traveling or even weekend programs. It all depends on how book-smart he is. He can read on his own or opt for lectures usually organized by course-mates..not the school.

@OP...walk into NOUN office in Wuse 2...close to GLO office and make ur inquiry.

Thanks Bro, will be visiting the office today. Was there once o, but was too lazy to follow up on my enquiries, that's like a year ago.

Hello Kockane,

Congratulations on your promotion to the next level. I remember you contemplated dumping GT job for Hull MBA, and you were advised to take study leave, if possible. Please what happened? Why are changing your plan? Because I followed that thread from start to finish and I gained reasonable advice.

Hey, what a sharp memory you got there. It's hard to believe I'd still come across someone who'd remember me from back then on this forum.

Well the reality is, no option of study leave for me anymore. I'd have to resign and come back after the completion of my program, which may be subject to vacancies in the system when I get back. A bird in hand, they say, is worth more than two in the bush. I'd rather stay back and try to combine. From the suggestions on this thread, I've started making exhaustive enquiries though.

You have no issues. Since you are currently an ABO, I don't see you going back to sciences, abi?

There are so many schools offering MBA programs (weekend classes) for working professionals. ESUT Business School is currently receiving applications. They offer MBA in Banking and Finance, Bus Admin, HR and Marketing. I've forgotten their other courses. App form is 20, 000, N180, 000 per semester. The MBA programme runs for 4 semesters.

P.S. How did you get to ABO in 2 yrs?
Marketing? FBN? Or ZB?

Please what school is ESUT? Naija or online sch?

Yeah, I'm in marketing, and I'm surprised at the reaction of some people at this 'cause I've seen people hit BO in less. As long as you're on budget and you have a nice rapport with your boss, you can get recommended for promotion year in, year out. And no, it's not FBN or ZB, *in Asa's voice* there's a place I'd love to be...

nasarawa state university is your best bet. Their form is currently on sale. I just applied for LL.M. You could also try university of london correspondence courses. Www.london.ac.uk. On on account should you go near University of Abuja. They are planless.

That's is good to hear.

I followed that thread from start to finish because I might be in similar dilemma. I enrolled in Masters programme here in Nigeria and I'm about to finish.

Were you able to get refund from Hull?

In my organization, We have ET,EA, SEA, ABO.. If u 're that good and you get promoted every year which is very feasible .. that would be 4 years.

ABO is 2nd level in mine...right after ET. It all depends on the bank.

Kk. I get.
ESUT is in Enugu.

I know students who come to the business school from Abuja, Lagos and other locations.

i think i have met you before in the second floor of the branch in wuse market early this year.

Kockane:
Hello everyone,

Please I need your advise. I'm at wits end as to how to successfully combine my career as a banker, which takes almost all of my time, with pursuit of a master's degree.

I am 27, a graduate of Anatomy, 2.2 from a Federal University, with about 2 years banking experience. I recently got promoted to the level of an Assistant Banking Officer (ABO) in one of the top Banks in the country. Take home pay is about 330k/month so I'm fairly comfortable. I'm still single and ain't looking to marry within the next two-three years so I believe I have time to wrap up my masters degree before taking the big step.

I'm looking to further my education, concurrently with my work, no passion for the sciences anymore, so I'm looking at an MBA. I've heard a lot of talk about online programs but I've come to realise they are either overly expensive or the cheap ones have little or no recognition in the labour market. I've tried the distance learning in one of the universities in the southeast but couldn't keep up due to time constraint, had to drop out cuz I missed a couple of tests and exams. I've also considered the National Open Uni but honestly speaking, I'd rather pursue my dreams at an institution with more pedigree (no offense intended).

Pls, I'd appreciate if there are any MBA programs that are cheap and flexible for working class individuals like myself based in Abuja who have a tight schedule. Thanks everyone.
