A confidential source in the Presidency told me yesterday that Tinubu was penciled down by Buhari to be part of his US trip delegation.

The Source hinted that Buhari wanted to use the opportunity to mend fences with Tinubu but Tinubu refused the offer and said the only condition that will make him follow Buhari to the US is if he is giving a diplomatic passport.

You may all recall that about 4 years ago the Federal Govt withdrew diplomatic passports from former governors and past ministers.

Tinubu has stated that he can not go as an ordinary citizen even though he will be accompanying the President and was even scheduled to follow Buhari to the White House.

So why is Tinubu missing out on this golden photo-op?

In other related Aso Rock gist, Presidencial sources also hinted on plans to reopen rape charges on Sahara Reporters publisher, Sowore.

The fresh criminal charges will be filed any time soon in a federal high court.

The original investigation Police officer, IPO ( who is currently a Police Commisioner) and the victim's statement have been assembled alongside the original case file.

You will recall that early last year a serving commissioner of Police came out to state that Sowore was arrested on alleged rape after a complaint was lodged at the Bode Thomas Police Station, Surulere. Presidency sources hinted that Sowore's Sahara Reporters has began negative and bias reporting on the Buhari administration on the behest of Tinubu and as such the President ordered that "any means neccessary" be utilized to put a gag on Sowore.
