Sir the only bitter experience I have on watermelon was last year when I planted 2 acres of watermelon close to a village called Agbedo along ijaye road before ajibade. My watermelon was doing fine but the villagers will never allow me to harvest my produce before it fully mature. You will just see watermelon slice into two inside the farm, I want to cry but I learn a very great lesson. I was able to harvest cucumber on the same plot because cucumber is not eaten by most of the villager.... I loss all my watermelon to the villagers oooooo......

2ND FARM2MARKET VEGETABLE TRAINING When you pay N25,000 for a month training,
you automatically have:
1. Access to half acre of ploughable land to plant vegetable for a year free which will be allocated immediately after the one month training
2. Accommodation of shared hotel room has been arranged for participant to stay for a month
3. Seed will be given for you to pay at harvest
4. You can only plant vegetables
5. We will help to sell your vegetables if you follow the good agricultural practise that we will all learn during the training
6. You must participate in vegetable training for minimum of a month
7. No fertilizer will be given. We will teach on how to make your own organic fertilizer and you can easily buy the inorganic fertilizer and organic if you want
8. You will pay for your tractor usage which is N3,000 per acre at the LGA. Trainee will take care of their farm labour
9. You get to feed yourself throughout the period
10. You will take care of the farm land given to you but we will provide technical support throughout your planting period.
11. We take care of your accommodation for a month.
12. Alternative accommodation is been arranged for trainee to take care of themselves after the one month if they choose to stay
13. We only have space for 30 trainee for the month of July
14. Its on first pay first participating basis
15. Participant should prepare for real farm work.

sorry for replying you late, am just seeing ur question now. To plant pepper at this time of the year it a good timing in terms of marketing. But why considering climate factor/season, u must make provisions for irrigation to archive great success......... If this condition is met u are good to go........ RODO SEED IS AVIALABLE OOOOO.

Planted 10,000 tubers of yam last year but only got roughly 1200 big ones and 6000 seedlings. Most were stolen about 6 weeks before harvest so I was forced to start harvest up save some. Also had a similar experience with my watermelon and beans.

Ideally, farming has potentials but in reality, if the farm isn't properly secured and operation mechanized or automated. You just end up investing in soil fertilization

Can you share your expenses i.e cost to setup and how much you realized...from my side few bury juju on such farm to trap theives

Sorry for the loss.Security and safety should be your number one priority before cultivation next time.
If it's a leased land,then you can get a sincere,reliable guard or if purchased,fence the whole farm or security dogs.

Fencing 4 hectares would have meant more investment on the structure, though walls are scaled efficiently when the reward is excellent. Think the dog option solves the problem but I no trust those fulani boys,walahi. ..
