don't accept it oo...so that you will avoid stories that touches the heart....I may be wrong, but let me guess. Is he Asian? Insist on milestone. I did such mistakes in the past. After project completion, they run away with my money. I'm yet to see one with my $25 up till date. I worked for one yesterday from UAE asking me to create a brand name. I said he should create a milestone which he did. later he said the brand names I provided won't be needed again. He even went ahead to refund the money freelancer.com debited me. All what am saying is, as for me...it is not happening. No milestone, no acceptance of your project'm I still have one that is pending. Most of those who doesn't want to set it have nothing useful to offer.

No. If you have not accepted it. Just reject it. No negative review. Let me tell you an experience I mentioned on this thread. If you accept it, he will likely say it is not quality enough after completion and goes on to give you negative review when you ask for money. You will lose both sides. That's what led to me closing my first acoount. Or he will provide u with another job and insist you do it before he released the money for the first.

You can use psychology to ensure that your proposal gets noticed when bidding for a job.

1)First things First.....work on your profile, what does your profile name and tag line say?..over time I have noticed that people who use names like "excellent writers" get faster responses than people with generic names.

Employers who really don't have so much time to spend, usually skim through and pick a few proposals with striking names/ taglines.


2) In your profile description tab, ensure that you copy all the nice testimonials and feedback you have been getting , so It's one of the first things a potential client sees when he checks your profile.

3)Add testimonials of jobs you have executed relevant to the clients project and write a personalized proposal , fitting in words that the client used in his profile description

For example if a client says "I want a clean modern beautiful website", I use those words and more to make him see the beautiful big picture and how my design will affect his business positively if he employs me.

This is also applicable to writing too, as i have seen someone who gets paid 135 usd/hr to do copy writing, just because he applied some of these strategies.

4) if you must use your picture, use a smart picture abeg!....you can wear a jacket/or suit to look professional, call your friend who has been a photo freak to take a nice clean shot of you, or better still head on to a photo studio, shelling out 500 naira for nice head shots wont hurt so much, when the returns start coming in

Freelancing pays when you treat it like a business, and when you have a strategy you are continously finetuning

Please dont accept any projects with unfunded milestones...A friend accepted a fake job worth 3000 pounds and guess what?....freelancer wiped out his account...took out the 50 usd balance he had and his account was reading something like -280 usd

dude had to create another account....Ladywriter saved me a couple of times from mistakes like this when i was starting out...I'm always grateful to her

Did you accept the job? If you did not click on accept, there is no way he can give you a negative feedback. A feedback is only possible if you click on accept, that way he can close the project and give you an incomplete negative review. Don't mind him. Just allow it to go and start bidding on more jobs. You will get better paying jobs.

This indians are slave masters...In my dealings with them they are almost all the same.So i resolved to avoid any profile that had an indian or pakistani badge.


North americans and europeans pay the most....My first big jobs as a newbie were a 300$ job for business plan and powerpoint presentation from a canadian

I also got a 220 euro job for a research job i finshed in one night from someone from the czech republic

So i'll advice you to sleep on the research page( refreshing always) and be on the look out for employers from these zones with good feedback and verified payment ratings

If you have skype download it....Imagine you have a former client on your skype list...saying good morning on an odd day can get you work or a referral

Time zones differ....because Eastern standart time and pacific standard time are 5 and 8 hours behind us...staying up at night can land some good opportunities in your laps. But i fear these indians as they seem to have autobots that bid for them

Employers hate auto responses that's why some of them will ask you a question, to be answered in your proposal to be sure that you read their project description.
