For the first time, I agree with the Federal Government on this. The Universities established the staff schools themselves as part of their internal operations and they should fund it. If the Universities should establish a business Centre within the school, will they be expecting the Federal government to still pick up the bills? Let's be reasonable. And for those talking about wardrobe allowance for legislators, it is not related to this issue in any way

If funds raised from school fees and other fees paid by students are spent by the universities, it's only logical that same universities pay the staff salaries.

Op is not talking of FG owned institutions here, we are talking of primary and secondary schools established by the workers themselves for the benefit of their children. Even if you have problem when it comes to comprehension, you can still read and re-read as many times as possible to get your fact clearly.

Staff school is more or less like a private school purposely established to cater for the children of staff: why should government be responsible for the payment of workers working there after paying the FG workers working in the tertiary institutions? This is like government paying salaries of private primary and secondary schools, and it does not signify equity and equality.

I think I have started to have feelings that Nigeria has a government now: all these frivolous expenses enjoyed by few must stop.

You don't quite understand the situation, the established of staff schools is part of the structure in Nigerian university system. You cannot cut of an arm or part of a man, and still expect him to function normally. Besides 24 staff schools in universities across the country, costing the country 4billion isn't anything, to over 120 staff schools in the armed forces, police and customs, costing almost 200 billion. Or do you want to compare it with the dress allowance to the country's lawmakers

I believe dis is a private bizness by d school. Since school fees are being collected, why can't d Universities fund d staff schools. The school fees in most of these Staff school is so high compared to individually owned private schools. Funding of these staff schools by FG will be an avenue for d management of the universities to embezzle.
