Paramount of all he/she must be Allah fearing.any other thing can follow by,e.g good looks,wealth etc.

The hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari (4802) and Muslim (1466) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who said: “A woman may be married for four things: her wealth, her lineage, her beauty and her religious commitment. Seek the one who is religiously-committed, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may you prosper).” 

The above hadith does not apply to woman alone but to man as well, you can marry a man for his religious commitment, wealth, beauty and lineage BUT it will be most beneficial if you can take his religious commitment as priority.

A religious commitment brother will definitely be bless with Barakah on the long run and will always deal and relate with you with the fear of Almighty Allah.

Almighty Allah will grant us a spouse that will be coolness in our eyes and enter Aljannah together (Ameen).

The woman’s guardian (wali) should strive to check out this matter and not rely only on outward appearances. The true believer does not oppress or mistreat his wife; if he loves her, he honours her, and if he does not love her, he does not mistreat or humiliate her. As well as being religiously committed, it is preferable that he should come from a good family and a known lineage. If two men come to propose marriage to one woman, and they are equal in terms of religious commitment, then preference should be given to the one who comes from a good family that is known for its adherence to the commands of Allaah, so long as the other person is not better than him in terms of religious commitment – because the righteousness of the husband’s close relatives could be passed on to his children and his good origins and lineage may make him refrain from many foolish and cheap actions. The righteousness of the father and grandfather are beneficial to the children and grandchildren

Peeped into this topic and then it hit me, i have never dated or ever asked a Muslim lady out before. Who here has dated one before as a non Muslim?are they romantic or constrained by the religion?

Bros, no rules to marriage, just seek Allah's face, do the necessary medical checks, do litmus test if possible and most importantly, check the history of their fam.

To choose who to marry is the first step of marriage(he/she must be religious committed).

Maybe you are mistaken force marriage to arrange marriage, force marriage is not allowed in Islam arrange marriage is allowed and one can decline the proposal.

ive been in search of a good muslim girl for a serious short- relationship.
my intention is to avoid zina and settle down if I meet the right person
I dont want to deceive anybody here: IM NOT RICH and im not suffering InshaAllah.
im a muslim, 27, working, and presently live in a one room face me I face you house in lagos
im educated.
I need a decent muslim lady that is not artificial, that actually believes in the Existence of God beyond saying it, a young muslim girl ready to grow and develope financially and spiritually. from a well bred home. not too bold but lively, doesnt nag, not materialistic, speaks good english, educated, calm, submissive, infact dont worry they dont exist!

You look out for 4 things in a lady for marriage.
1 Beauty
2 Wealth
3 Family background
4 Religion, which is the most important.
This also include education.
But lately we just have to pray for Allah's guidance for proper partner.
Am not a heavy bearded and trouser jumping brother, but I love my deen and pray to Allah to make it easier for me to practice islam better.
But I realized most of our "hijabite" sisters a hypocrites and not real to the world.
I don't judge now by the look to award a level of piety.
Am forced to still appreciate trouser wearing muslim ladies who are real in their way of live.... May almighty Allah guide us right.

Salam 'alayk.
My sister,the first factor is d person's piety towards Allah,Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Holy prophet(S.A.W) admonish us to choose our spouse(s) not on his/her wealth,family influence/connections or handsomeness/beauty but to choose base on d religion(Islam) of d person.
When choosing your partner u must choose for d sake of your unborn children,because whoever u marry will definitely have bearing on d future of your children base on how both of you brought them up,especially in terms of religion and morality.
Wallahu a'allam.

I did followed it and I always thank Allah for the decision taken then .
