Must Read: Man Shares Touching Story Of How Confidence Got Him His Wife by bigtimi(op):
I am the happiest man alive today not because I have the fattest bank account or a mouthwatering wardrobe allowance but because today marks one year since I got married to my beautiful wife. A few of you may be wondering why that should be so much of a big deal to me when on a regular basis, millions of couples celebrate their twentieth, thirtieth or even fiftieth wedding anniversaries but hey, lets celebrate the days of little beginning.

Perhaps if I shared the story of how we met, you will understand why I am this giddy. It started in 2013. I had just finished University and was posted to serve in Lagos. I hadn’t been to Lagos in my life and was a little apprehensive about it but nonetheless, I had to go, ‘That is where your destiny wants. Go there and do well’, my aged mother told me on the day I was to make my journey

I arrived Lagos at exactly 7am, after about twelve hours of traveling, I arrived at the popular Oshodi terminal, ready for the next phase of my life. In no time, I was seated in the Iyana-Ipaja bound bus right next to a gorgeous damsel who seemed too preoccupied with her iPhone to even notice me. As God will have it, her battery soon ran out and I knew that was my cue. I didn’t waste time,

‘Can I fill in?’ I asked.

She shot me that quizzical look as though asking if she complained of boredom but trust me, I wasn’t moved,

‘I mean, can I keep you company till we get to our destination’.

At this point, I could tell I had a fair chance so I fired on and in no time, we were laughing and gisting as though we had been friends since forever.

We continued with our friendship on camp. We did everything together and were always with each other. Luckily for us, we got posted to teach in schools within the same vicinity and our friendship continued. We didn’t need a soothsayer to tell us we were into each other, so after a few more months of friendship, I made the move and we became ‘official’.

But then, there was an issue; she is the only daughter of her father who is a General in the army. He once led the battalion to a peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone and was renowned to be a feisty and protective of her, but how could I not know about this from the start?….Love is indeed blind. After several months of postponement, I finally summoned up courage and asked to meet her father. My colleagues, friends and even a few family members had warned me to prepare for the worst, some others even advised I back out of the relationship but no, this was the woman I love and the one I was ready to be with.

The day soon came and there I was about to be consumed by the unknown. She sat next to me calming me down and assuring me all would be fine but mehn! I was tensed. A million and one thoughts kept racing in my head, ‘What if he was angry’, What if he sends me out’ ‘What if he asks that I be detained’ but I refused to give in to the fears and allowed my confidence take over. A few minutes later, he walked and I must confess, I was dazed.

Now the opposite.. wink

My name is Barrister Aliyu Ahmed and I would like to share my #DivorceDiaries with you

1. I'm a lawyer from Jigawa State. I am the chief Legal Officer of a new generation bank. I am 44 years old #DivorceDiaries

2. I met my wife at law school. Her name is Barrister Aisha Malumfashi and she was my wife for 10 years #DivorceDiaries

3. Aisha was a powerhouse of intellect. What attracted me to her was her brilliance in class. Always answering questions

4. Even during group discussions her contributions were always brilliant and thought provoking. I was floored

5. I also considered myself quite the guru, having graduated with a 2.1 from Ahmadu Bello University. Aisha was my equal intellectually

6. She was and still is a powerful mix of brains, beauty and booty

7. We were in the same study group so it was easy for us to become close freinds quite fast #DivorceDiaries

8. Despite all her assets Aisha is one of the most humble women I have ever met in my life. So humble and down to earth #DivorceDiaries

9. Unlike most people we decided to get married without any of that love nonsense. We were great freinds and it was enough

10. We decided to get married after our service year. Aisha was a great sport. She didn't want any Lefe or ceremony. #DivorceDiaries

11. And so we got married. And we were happy. We both got jobs and life was good. We were not money crazy like the youth of today.

12. The first year rolled by with the usual hiccups and up and down of settling into life as husband and wife #DivorceDiaries

13. After our 2nd anniversary we started trying for a baby. Our marriage was fine and our friendship was rock solid. What could go wrong?

14. It was 4 years of marriage and 2 years of trying for a baby that we realized something was wrong. #DivorceDiaries

15. And that's how the barrage of tests started. Naturally only Aisha was subject to these tests because I was presumed to be virile. LOL

16. After all the tests, my freind Dr Khalid certified Aisha healthy and fertile. We were advised to wait for Gods time.

17. It was the dawn of the new millennium. We had been married for 9 years. We were both very successful attorneys and no child

18. At this time things started to get bad and confusing. My parents blamed Aisha. The bad blood started btw my wife and my family

19. Things escalated quickly and before I knew it my home on Rabah Rd was invaded by malams and rubutu #DivorceDiaries

20. Aisha started getting desperate and I did not like it. Why should she be desperate saboda Allah da Annabi? #DivorceDiaries

21. Things got so desperate that Aisha herself pleaded with me to take another wife #DivorceDiaries

22. I flatly refused. I told her I was disappointed in her. Haba. Meanwhile deep down I knew why we were childless.

23. You see I knew that I was impotent. I had known since my days at ABU that I couldn't get a woman pregnant. #DivorceDiaries

24. How did I know you ask? Well permit me to explain. Back in university I had a gf Godiya #DivorceDiaries

25. Godiya was a pharmacy student and she was always cheating on me with the big boys on

26. Godiya got pregnant in her 2nd year while I was in my 3rd year. She insisted I was the father. I wasn't ready to accept. #DivorceDiaries

27. Long story short, my freind Khalid told me to go for a sperm motility test. I did. #DivorceDiaries

28. I still remember the smell of the air freshener of the doctors office. When I was flatly told I would have challenges fathering kids

29. I still remember the look on the doctors face. And all these years I had lived with having empty sperm. Literally. #DivorceDiaries

30. Now that Aisha was getting desperate I knew I had to do something to preserve my secret. Before she found out.

31. So I went to Dr Khalid my dear old freind for advice. And right there in his office we hatched a plan to get Aisha Pregnant

32. The plan was that he would prescribe a sedative for Aisha. And ask her to take the drug at bedtime. He would tell her...

33. It would help with increasing her chances of getting pregnant. We reasoned Aisha trusted him enough not to ask too many questions

34. And we also figured a desperate woman would accept anything. I told myself it was for the greater good of my marriage to do this

35. And so Aisha took the drug some nights later. I let my freind into our bedroom and he made love to my wife. We did this about 5 times.

36. Aisha always assumed I was the one who had been intimate with her while she was knocked out. And some months later she was pregnant.

37. 9 months later my son was born. I named him Abubakar. I honestly was overjoyed. Khalid was a genius. #DivorceDiaries

38. All was well and blissful in my life. I fell in love watching my wife become a doting mom. Reconciled with her inlaws she was happy

39. It was after Abubakar's 2nd birthday that he started getting sick. He was always sick. Running high fevers and we were worried.

40. After several trips to the hospital, our son was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease. He would be in pain most of his life.

41. I was shattered. The guilt was eating me up. I knew why this had happened.

42. You see in my haste to get a child, I forgot that my freind and my wife had AS genotype. I was AA. #DivorceDiaries

43. There was no way Aisha was gonna miss this. She would figure everything out and I would lose everything. #DivorceDiaries

44. And so I decided to come clean. Aisha had literally beaten up the doctor because she insisted she was AS and I was AA #DivorceDiaries

45. As we sat by our son's hospital bed I confessed to Aisha. I told her everything. She was hysterical.

46. She would never forgive me for sure. She would probably kill me. What I did was unforgivable. #DivorceDiaries

47. I was even more devastated when 2 days later Abubakar passed away. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun. #DivorceDiaries

48. For a while I thought that Aisha and I could fix our marriage. I was doing all I could to be there for her. #DivorceDiaries

49. Aisha was having none of it. She went to her waliy and told him everything. I was invited with my waliyy. I was so ashamed.

50. That meeting was the longest meeting ever. It was the most painful 2 hours in my life. I sat there and saw her anguish and her pain

51. Aisha asked me straight up for a divorce. I was so ashamed and guilty. I wanted us to fix things. I didn't want her to leave me

52. I didn't want my secret to be out. I was a popular high flying lawyer in Kaduna and yet I was an empty shell of a man.#DivorceDiaries

53. Aisha knew this and she threatened to take me to court if I refused to give her a divorce.

54. That is how I divorced my Aisha. After 10 years of marriage, after all her kindness and friendship and loyalty. I repaid her like this

55. I still have trouble sleeping. I have cut all ties with Dr Khalid. I am still unmarried. The guilt still eating me up #DivorceDiaries

56. Thank you for sharing my #DivorceDiaries I hope people will learn..
