I never claimed to be from England. I merely stated the truth. Take it or leave it. If I was a lady and some dude wrote this kind of letter to me, I would make it into a paper plane.

hmmmm... Though I personally hate writing anything official in shorthand, I think we should be a little fair with the dude. Given the circumstances, my guess is that he may be rushed his write up a little to avoid being noticed. I don't think he is poor in writing because he even got the spelling of a seemingly difficult word (acquaintance) right.
