Media personality and Vlogger Ariyike Akinbobola did something most won't do. She repaired the bad road leading to her home after waiting endlessly for government to carry out repairs. She bought broken blocks and sand and poured it on the road - which is usually flooded after heavy downpour - to make it motorable. What the street looks like before (first pix) and what it looks like now (second pix). Well done to her.

Good Nigerian,

My paranoid mind tells me she did it for the publicity

My normal mind says, she did it for a greater good

But

Blocks and filling is not the solution, drainage is, If they at that estate can contribute, get mallamws to excavate, less than 600 mm, and use blocks to channel it, it'll last longer

On a reasonable level this type of deed is what should be recognized in century or is it centenary awards, not abacha and Co as GEJ did

It's a commendable effort

But, it might be for easy passage of her car cos she obviously did one part of the waterlogged road
Re: Nigerian Lady Repairs Bad Street In Lekki Using Her Own Money (PHOTOS) by MKO4ever(m): 10:17am On Jul 13, 2015
Where is the repair? I thought she put interlocking tiles or even tarred the road. What happened was
--My friend leaves in Lekki as a big babe
--But flood and bad road will not allow her drive her car to her house
--The inconvenience was getting too much, because she close from work very late and sometimes would have park her car at far distance and walk through the water to her house
--Her car has damaged a few times because of the road
--So in order to reduce her spending on car repair
--She call a tipper man to drop two loads of hard core and sand on her street
--Total money spent is even less than what she would have still spent repairing her cars
--Many people do this in other parts of Lagos/Nigeria
--So I do not really see any big deal here
--In fact, whatever she did was for her own interest
