There is serious riots in owerri at the moment purportedly over the demolition of illegal structures by the government. All shops and banks around Douglas road - Ama hausa- Mbaise road axis under lock as I speak with heavy concentration of armed security personnels around the area.

Info on ground reveals that todays problem started after the state government gave the traders at Ekeonuwa market and environs a deadline date to evacuate the area or face demolition, but the traders union were said to have insisted that the governor must demolish Ama hausa first which is also along the busy road before their business spots. Some irate youths were said to have busted into the Hausa area and that resulted to the riot

Update: The situation seems under control at the moment as mobile police men and other security personnels have surrounded the Ama Hausa area

Igbo's and riot. What a tribe. We all know the state government is right on the proposed demolition.
This will help the state government expand the roads and curb go slows along the Douglas road.

saw that dude too... Infact that place (Ama hausa) is a den of weapons.... The mere fact that there are soldiers guarding that place 24-7 while this guys keep such weapons around is quite disheartening

question is why do the traders want the govt to demolish ama Hausa first before their own market? They don't trust the governor ?
