Which Almighty god are you referring toohuh the one who murders women and children?

or the one who extort tithe money and ra.pes kids?
Na wa...Africans' concept of the Almighty has nothing to do with those biblical tales of a 'jealous God' who orders mass rap.e and killings, and has ''chosen people''. The African concept of God, which existed thousands of years before the christian concept of God, is one of an aloof Intelligence who has no direct involvement in human affairs. That makes a lot more sense than the bible fairytales.

OP, please learn how to use the small letter "g" for small gods. There is no other god than the Almighty God. The Alpha and the Omega.
The only small gods are those that needed to be shipped into our land and used as a tool to oppress africans

Guys dont bother with African gods that the God of the bible judged?

The God of the bible disgraced the African gods,
now if these gods can't save themselves how can they save you?

Exodus 12:12
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night,
and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast;
and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

Sorry guys African gods are useless the only living God is the God of the bible.

PS
allah is not the God of the bible ,
if allah were God it will tell moslems to stop killing Jews & Christians.

Surah 5:51
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies.
They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you -
then indeed, he is [one] of them.
You are stupid indeed. The same egypt who developed a civilization ur dumb Jehova couldn't help the jews achieve

The god of the bible failed in his promise to grant the jews land he claimed to own [https://www.nairaland.com/1881771/did-yahweh-fail-promise-abraham]

Or the inconsistent deity called yahweh who lost to mere humans with the help of Iron (Ogun's Element)

Islam originated from the middle east of which Egypt is part of... And Egypt is also part of Africa

please bear in mind that the thread is concerned with regions/ continents not countries smiley.... So if Islam originated from the Middle East of which Egypt is part of, and the first major practice of Islam was recorded in North Africa, then Islam can be said to also originate from Africa smiley
gringrin I blame the messed up Educational system in Nigeria for ur misinformation

Please try looking into the history of egypt and the people called arabs, you would find out that egypt was only recently invaded by arabs
Yet egypt is not middle east, part of the Arab world yes but not middle-east

Don't argue blindly

That's another name for Yemoja.

Yeyemoolu's nick/short name is Yemoo.

They are two different deities.
Is Yemoo held as a deity or just an historical character? If she is considered a diety in Ife, I would be inclined to suggest that Yemoja to Ife is Yemoo

I have come across some works on Isese describing Yemoja as daughter of Obatala. ..in the Carribeans she is his wife
You know it's not always based on historical facts. ..the mythical/spiritual parts should be considered

A deity, she has a compound in Ife where her descendants keep her alive.

No, she was never and is not yemoja.

Yeemoo *clears throat* was an Aje (mo juba o!- I hate calling out that name, I rever it).

Was Yemoja banished from Ife along with Obatala? Was she an Aje who initiated Obatala into the order of Aje?

Considering the spiritual is confusing to the regular person. Separate Yoruba history from Yoruba cosmology, it will help everyone.

What is ayilala? What Language did you just spoil?

The Ilaje deity is called AIYELALA. That was the last word of a wronged woman who after she was wrongly accused and executed became a deity. Aiye = World, lala = big. Literally, it means the world is big. However, philosophically and in the context of usage, it means humans are unfathomably cruel.

Yemoja was not Ife na. Oyo or Ijebu

I was trying to explain that some people claiming a connection between Obatala and Yemoja(I know of the "Father and daughter" claim) might be speaking from Yoruba cosmology and not History

I followed your premise of Yemoja being referred as Yemoo in Ife, so I needed to clarify and pin point the obvious differences between both figures.

I am just not cool with mixingor confusing cosmology with history.

I really love this post , Educating us about African gods. I wish the origin of this gods was well detailed , with pictorials/images of each god. it would help me understand better what really this gods are about.
going through the post, i saw some of the gods where referred to as "sky gods", and am sure most of them if not all came from the sky, which makes me to think , the gods may have been astronauts from space that visited earth in the remote past, because most of the gods came from the sky, they were worshipped as sky gods e.g i can remember in social studies class, ...Oduduwa came down to earth on a chain from the sky... & started life on earth etc.
Has anyone wondered if "Sango" & "Thor" could have been the same being, but represented differently by different eyes/minds(cultures).
