Biafra Is Just A Symptom; The Disease Is The System! by Nobody: 8:57pm On Jul 19, 2015
This is the period of truth. It's is the moment of honesty, sincerity, love and deep consideration. This period calls for serious pondering on the future of Nigeria.

I've heard a lot of people insulting and abusing the director of the Radio Biafra. I've listened to his messages a few times. And I've cared to sieve the vital truths from his message while discarding those that have the semblance of impatience, hate, intolerance and attack on some perceived enemies. I know what I want. I pick the appropriate messages.

The Biafra agitation is simply the symptom of a deeper lying disease. It's just a symptom; the disease is the system. The unjust and debilitating system gave rise to the Biafra agitation. And until the disease is sincerely tackled, the symptoms won't go away. And pretending there isn't any problems when the contrary is obvious won't still solve the problems.

Disaster is when a unitary system of government was carefully designed to operate in a multicultural nation like Nigeria. It will always bring disaster. It will always bring economic imbalance and oppression. All the agitation for secession and other tendencies are predicated upon this wicked system. No nation with our unique and different cultural diversity should be running a unitary system of government.

The greatest enemies of Nigeria aren't even those who call for an outright referendum or secession. The greatest enemies of Nigeria are those who have insisted on maintaining the current dubious and suffocating system. I believe deep within the average Igbo, a sincere attempt at restructuring the system will suffice, and many shall drop this agitation for Biafra. The agitation is simply intended to achieve for them economic justice, development and progress. Since they haven't achieved that within the Nigerian nation, they believe they can achieve that within Biafra. It's their right to chart their destiny.

Nigeria is notorious for playing the ostrich. It's notorious for throwing money at problems. It's notorious for even denying it has problems. The only lasting solution to Malaria is a treatment of the disease; not just managing the symptoms. The current system has NO FUTURE. It must give way to a more equal, just and meaningful one. Any other attempt is tantamount to pouring of water on the back of a duck.

There were about 1 billion people in 1815. By 2015, none of those 1 billion people is alive. That simply means we are not going to live eternally; we ALL will die. It then behoves on us to be sincere enough to pass onto our children a better system that will guarantee their progress and evolution. The current Nigerian system has no such plans for them.

The North produces NOTHING. All the money generated at A papa and Tincan Ports, Muritala Intl Airport, and from the ND are used in beautifying Abuja and other Northern states. That's the fraud we're talking about.

Nigeria must either return to regional government, true federalism or risk the worst in the nearest future. The human spirit behind justice, fairness and equity is so irrepressible no amount of intimidation and threat can quench it. Quiet it today, and it will surface tomorrow.

Biafra isn't the problem of Nigeria. Nigeria is even a huge hindrance to the growth of the Igbos. It's an albatross to their development. Change the system.

I close with the last words of Ken Saro wiwa before he was hanged: ' I'm a man of ideals; a man of values. My ideals will live. You may kill the messenger but you cannot kill the message'.

Have a great week ahead.

Lots of good points in your write up. However, Nigeria's problems are as complex as they are simple. The major problems we face can be linked directly to the fact that Nigeria isn't built on a solid foundation of patriotism, equality, pride, courage or any other outstanding virtues.

Our leaders are only content with filling their own pockets without any sense of servitude or even responsibility to the nation and its future

Biafra is neither a symptom nor disease. Biafra remains the fundamental thought of group of people who concluded that the British contraption called Nigeria has no progressive future for them. Nigeria is a dead-end currently led by a goat in human shape. One of the major criteria for secession or agitation for independent home land had been naturally certified by the Biafrans. The only traceable disease found in your post in Nigeria. It is high time the terminal disease called Nigeria is terminated.

Blame one of your Biafra brother Aguiyi Ironsi for that, His plans against the North and other region of the federation completely backfired! You think we aren't tire of this "Awa oyel" parrot noise? Investments are currently being made all across the North and West, Until our Agriculture industry, Technology and mining industry is fully developed we will continue taking our share from the "National cake" thanks to Ironsi....You can start a war if you are so angry so we can completely annihilate you. Thanks

Apart from the fact that Ironsi was the architect of the current unitary system, how come all of this agitation picked up upon Jonathan's defeat?

When the same system threw up the Ijaw son who ended up enriching touts from his region that were insulting the north and making all kinds of inflammatory statements, it was not unfair to other regions? When bowler hats were controlling Abuja the system was not flawed?

The fact is that the distraction of oil which gives you the guts to insinuate that the North which is the agricultural base of this nation produces nothing, was detrimental to our development as all the military governments and subsequent PDP governments failed to diversify the tired old oil economy.

Feel free to express your dissatisfaction with the current system, but don't cheapen your cause by playing victim or making baseless derogatory statements about any region.

From ur point of view...

Be it a disease...be it a symptom.
Biafrans want the tree out from the root and not just a mere cut for it may sprout up tomorrow. We aint willing to take quack medications over this malaria parasite. Since mosquitos are the cause, it would be foolishness to believe that we are cured and the disease exterminated whereas mosquitos exist in our environment, hence, we want them fluched out so that if we lay down to rest they won't feast on us and infest us again.

Good morning, my able brother. Hope you had a great night? Thanks for your thoughts.

Nothing could be more dubious and fraudulent about the amalgamation of 1914. It was a greedy, baseless and myopic move by the imperialists to create a business venture for themselves. People who share NO values and beliefs have NO business being clamped together in the name of building a nation.

Our founding fathers didn't really understand the demonic move by the Imperialists. And we have refused to address the fact the foundation on which this nation stands is nonexistent.

Why was this agitation not a front burner during GEJ's tenure? At least he was one of you and he would have listened then.

Why did GEJ say that there should be no go area at the National Jamboree of a Confab he organised?

Who started the unitary system? What was the motive of the abolishment of the regional system by the same group of people clamouring for one funny fraud of a country now?

To be sincere, it is a commendable write up. Nigeria needs to be restructured, Agreed. We need to at least go back to Regional Government. True Federalism with this 36states seems not practicable in reality.
Re: Biafra Is Just A Symptom; The Disease Is The System! by Nobody:
Nice one op. I have a great deal of respect for people that reason critically and writes intelligently. I think it's late to change the minds of Igbos. Nigeria had years to correct this wrong. Perhaps more infuriating of all is the manner of approach GMB has employed to tackle Radio Biafra. The latter is what infuriates the Igbos..."shut us up by will of force"? Instead of you to address the injuctices in the system as the OP explained ; you are looking to dogmatically shut down their only mouthpiece which they cherish religiously. The more GMB clamps down on Radio Biafra, the more infuriated the Igbos are in their agitation for Biafra. Solution albeit could be late: address the wrong and injuctice in the system.
Re: Biafra Is Just A Symptom; The Disease Is The System! by NDPVF(m): 6:50am On Jul 20, 2015
@Bolded,i don't think you had a deep introspection, before putting up that.Did Ironsi die today?.since after his death, successive administration has come and gone, why didn't they correct it?.
Common sense would have told you that what he did then, was to use unitary system of government to save Nigeria from disintegration.
Now we must return to regionalism,or face the music.
As for your other rants you posted,it shows how parasitic you are.
