Hello everyone, I got my visa today. Well I have been a silent follower of this forum, so I would like to follow the trend by sharing my experience because I learnt quite frankly from the experience of others here. Transcripts to follow shortly.

Hi everyone...

I'm kinda new here, not to form big or anything...I've not traveled out of Nigeria before but I've always want too. So when my dad came up with d idea of me traveling out, I thought it will just be to work there, then he told me I'll be going to school. Since I've not travel before and not conversant with the process of securing a VISA, me and dad went to meet a well known agent to the family this morning and he told me to come with my passport and academic certificates tomorrow that he will look up schools that will admit for december.

So I'm very curious, nervous and expectant! I need advices and probably someone to put me through on d requirements so when the agent talks I will also tell him the information I have.

I have never been more ready (lol...pardon my "english").

I hope to follow this page as much as possible from this time onward. Hope to hear a sounding "welcome" *winks*

Am not suppose to ask which country you wanna travel to ofcos you are in the U.S. Thread lol it's very easy and simple but if you want a safe processing the first step is taking a standardized test.

Welcome. However we do not encourage people patronizing agents for admission and any of the steps in the process. Take your time to read through this thread and the previous and use google to explore schools and chose a course for yourself and safe yourself money you would pay an agent who may probably recommend a community college for you. Peace!

By standardized test, I think you are referring to toefl or GRE. Yes I mentioned that to the man helping me as well. He said nigeria is english speaking country that there's no need. That if we'll need it he will let me know. What do u suggest?

Yes that was what I meant. Sometimes agent would advice you not to do it because they wanted it to be easier for them. You definitely need one even if not for the school but for your embassy interview. I have an agent who has a record like that as well but he ended up processing a community school for me. He waisted my time and my resources ofcos if he can give you an I-20 his job is done you can't hold him for anything. So therefore you might still want to talk to you dad over it and let him know how easy the process is.

Yes!....I would have loved to do it myself, but my dad wouldn't let me. Moreover the agent is a youth church pastor (christ emba) so he has record of helping people with UK, australia canadian visas and ofcos US. I'm believing God. But if I have any school in mind I can ask him to consider it. U want to advise with school (he would give me feedback on choices of school soon).

Thanks!
See, I am just like this. I hate it when you had to take substance from him being a pastor, the statement pissed me off. Go and take standardized test chikenah.

It all depends on what you going for...Undergraduate or Graduate?? If its undergraduate you need SAT or TOEFL but if you can write the two better but if you can't then go for SAT. If you going for graduate you need GRE or TOEFL but if you can't afford both then GRE comes first. Note; you can also do the reg yourself too. You can google for the price really don't idea for that
