This should help 1. First of all, a national reorientation/awareness to change people's perception of rape! Most people don't see it as a big deal and the rest just want to keep it hush hush cos of the stigma & guilt that follows the victim 2. Create a National database for "Convicted" sex offenders that can be accessed by Schools & any Employer of labour 2. There should be a law requiring Sex offenders to inform neighbours & Community leaders of their status 3. Stiffer Penalty for the crime & for crying wolf! 2 Likes 2 Shares |

raayah: The boys who create such threads are young people (mostly from the romance section). They still have a sort of ideal about life that's rampant amongst students who are mostly dependent on their parents; I believe that when they get into the real world, they will meet women who will always give them a run for their money. And this is a social forum where any thread can actually make FP so when you see threads created to bash or call women worthless, do a little search on the Op and you will understand why they still create such threads. The only issue with such threads is that some girls can read and believe that they are everything described by the Op, cos they fail to sieve everything they read and discard the unnecessary. Maybe we need to remind these girls that every Tom, Dick and Harry can create a thread but not every thread created to bash anyone should be taken seriously or seen as the gospel truth. 3 Likes 4 Shares |

standd:You don't have the slightest Idea of wha u saying, If you knew, You won't say it is that simple. Human beings continue to evolve against what created it; nature. We continue to choose to alienate and forget about who we truly are. We have chosen to stop paying homage to our 'chi' and the product is the disordered disorderliness we won't ever be able to organize unless we retrace our steps. The light have been taken away from us, We became too astute to to see where we've erred, we became so self absorbed and confident we forgot we are prone to misplacing priorities, In brevity, If we continue to evolve in a way that doesn't pay homage to nature, we would be unconsciously digging our early graves. If you say you're not happy being a woman, what's now the essence of calling you a woman? Why do you still answer woman? If you feel you should be carrying or sharing the responsibility (ies) originally meant for men, then I feel it's better to start to think of fathering your children by yourself without the man or his sperm. A man was created to look rugged sound rough and be very aggressive in his ordeals. He is the family's chief of defense staff, He is the MAN and she is the WOMAN, the Housekeeper,The peacemaker, The calm, The recipient, The lover, The supporter. We shouldn't drive square poles in round holes if we don't want chaos in the already tensed-up system. Aspire to be better at what you are not to be what you are not. Even the aliens are laughing at us... |

lambvard: Men are moved by what they see but have you heard of self-control, discipline, decency and mental/psychological balance? You seem to think that only girls get raped, I really wonder how I will let you see that rape is a crime that affects each and everyone of us, in more ways than one. Kindly go through the Op and subsequent posts. Thank you. 1 Like |

First of all, a national reorientation/awareness to change people's perception of rape! Most people don't see it as a big deal and the rest just want to keep it hush hush cos of the stigma & guilt that follows the victim 2. Create a National database for "Convicted" sex offenders that can be accessed by Schools & any employer of labour 3. There should be a law requiring Sex offenders to inform neighbours & Community leaders of their status 4. Stiffer Penalty for the crime & for crying wolf! 5. Police officers (many female ones) and other victim support professionals have to be trained to encourage victims to come forward. No need to be ashamed. 6. Anonymity for victims (with measures to guard against spurious & malicious accusations). Stiff penalty for false accusation. 7. Many people in Nigeria are careless with their children - they need to be a lot more vigilant. Why do strange people have access to their children? Why are the parents not around? Why are so many people having children that they cannot care for?Sadly it is often the parents who are the indirect facilitators of abuse by way of their neglect. 8. Sex education is a must. If we, as parents, don't teach our children about sex they will learn it from other sources. Namely; friends, TV and porn. Non of these three sources are ideal. TV distorts what relationships are really like, and creates false expectations. Porn also creates expectations, ideals and attitudes that are counter productive to healthy relationships. 9. Women have changed. Laws have changed. But the education given to the male child hasn't been attacked with as much severity as the first two. Men are predators, true. They are hunters, true again. But they do not have to be sociopaths. Shift the awareness of how inhumane rape is to the men for once. Spend twice as much time as has been spent teaching women to be decent, and focus on getting the disgusting act of rape from the men. Also, if there's the possibility of having an executive arm of the police handle crimes of this nature (if it doesn't already exist) that will be superb. 10. Positive messages displayed on T-shirts… b) Public campaign across the nation by NL volunteers Dedicated NL volunteer team (Investigators, counsellors and lawyers) willing to respond to reported cases within a short period of time. c) Free banners permanently displayed on NL linked to a dedicated thread with information on how to go about reporting such incidents. d) NL University students encouraged to act as ambassadors in helping to curtail the evil menace by actively engaging in educating their peers. I just want to make the 270th comment. Its only a rape victim that can lead the war against rape! So, when this campaign flags off fully fledged, make sure its not just an individual driven by passion or affection but one who have went through the fire and trauma bears that flag. People that have walked through fire leaves sparkles of light everywhere they go.... Adieu! |

standd: If you listen to the stories of some notorious criminals, They were all good people until something happened eg some witnessed brutal killing of their loved ones and that brought out the beast in them, activated their potential to commit crime Please I don't mean to compare murder with rape. If such an incident is prevented, both the culprit and the victim are protected, and then such a crime will ultimately be prevented |

Freemanan: I do not support indecent dressing, but this is a shallow and outdated POV, sorry to say. Teach your sons to control themselves. Life is a matter of choice. Imagine the evil in the heart of a man when that helpless so-called "indecently" dressed woman keeps screaming and shouting for her release. A man who wants to rape a woman will still do it whether she's properly dressed or not. |

Eureka123: There might be several reasons for raping, but pls let us address this indecency of a thing among all this nudists girls first. Let us campaign against indecency dressing first and see if it will reduce the raping rate later we can tackle other holes but let fill up this indecency one first. |

Sabrwahaqqo: What's there to prove? We all have passions in life that we pursue, dreams that we work hard to achieve. For instance, I yearn to adopt about 30 orphans when I'm bouyant enough, so are you saying I have to be an orphan before I can do that? 1 Like |

kevinberry: Please what have I done? You just want to accuse me this morning because THREE of the agencies posted are specifically for abuse/child abuse (which involves both male and female children). Kindly go through the post again. Only project Alert is for women and I'm sure they take up all cases too. So what are you on about, where is the double standards now. Btw, what's stopping you from browsing the net to come up with agencies who are involved in these things? Pls, help me out. Use google, help get numbers and addresses of agencies biko. It's not about standd alone, play your own part too. A nairalander did his research and got two of those agents up there. And didn't you see the one for Lagos State.? Is that for only women or girls? Kevinberry, kindly help search for agencies in charge on Rape victims/Cases/Reports so that I can also put it up for everyone to see. Thanks 3 Likes 1 Share |
