Nigeria is not in any Economic challenger (s) that will warrant sharing of money from federal account as mere bread. After the sharing the money, many governor will still not pay the workers salaries.

They just using these monies to pay back all the expensive they incurred during election period. This INCLUDE PMB

Revenue sharing is not a linear measure that you can just compare what states were receiving 10 years ago and expect it to be similar to what they should be receiving today. There are so many economic indices that should be considered - inflation, forex movement, GDP, AND of course, other present day economic policies.

It's easy to point accusing fingers at Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, we always need that fall guy, but what have you really suggested we do? She made sound economic judgements but she did not have sole powers to implement these policies.
These states you're even talking about were the ones that never agreed with her opinions. The few that listened like Anambra are the ones reaping the dividends.

States should be more involved in policy development, I agree but what do we get, state commissioners of finance fighting more for more funds from FG.

All ye "change agents" that brought this plague on us all may feel the need to hold fire where Buhari is concerned.

Nigeria should prepare for 4 years of acute stagnancy. You voted out a champion of the free enterprise system and voted in a person who believes in a centrally controlled economy. So yeah..

APC!!! Chanji!!

Idiot.s angry
hmmmm slowpoke....so it is the chanji that brought about the stagnant economy abi....ignoramus

All these nonsense that makes Nairaland these days. Instead of States to think of going to 'revenue rehab' they are busy complaining that their monthly fixes of 'narco-llocation' is not 100% pure. Junkies.

Stories flying around at the speed of light to justify the APC looters, chai. shocked

Not so long ago =>

FG, States, LGs Share N568.4 Billion for Oct
15 NOVEMBER 2013

Also, $1billion was proposed for distribution to complement shortfall in expected revenue." The $1billion is a compromise by the FG over its words in September not to augment shortfalls anymore.

Responding to the presentation, the chairman of the States Commissioners of Finance and Ebonyi State Commissioner of Finance, Mr Timothy Odaah, lamented that the statutory allocation was getting smaller and smaller. "It appears this is the worst in terms of returns. This is the least in allocations as far as this year is concerned. We are mourning the dearth of funds and this is a wakeup call for states and local governments to buoy up their internally generated revenue."

While appreciating the "magnanimity" of President Goodluck Jonathan to approve the $1billion from the excess crude account and to be shared among the federal, state and local governments, Odaah expressed disappointment with the returns made by the NNPC.

He said that the states had requested for $2bn to complement for the shortfall in revenue but got only $1billion. In September, Odaah and fellow commissioners had walked out of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) when the federal government said that the framework of the 2013 budget was no longer realistic and it won't augment shortfall in revenue. Odaah raised issues with the statutory allocations of previous months.

The states, from the 1970s, when crude became the mainstay of the economy, not just now, had been administered by mentally lazy people – both as Governors and Commissioners of Finance—without exception. Otherwise, why should states which depend on revenue from crude for up to eighty (80) per cent or more of their revenue allow the FG alone to determine all the parameters mentioned above?
Why should the FG alone determine the benchmark, export volume, gross revenue and distributable income without checks and verification by the states? The Governors of states, up till now, had managed their relationships like members of a religious group based on faith in which the leader is totally trusted. “Faith”, meanwhile, “is not belief without proof, but trust without reservation.” (Elton Trueblood, in VANGUARD BOOK OF QUOTATIONS, p 55).

Who is the editor of Vanguard? he must have been inately dumb to approve a s!lly articule like this;

on the bold parts;

Crude Export volume is not determined by the FG but OPEC
Crude benchmark is not determined but FG but the Senate calls the final shot.

He misplaced these emperical facts yet an editor approved this? I thought Mr clueless has left.

I'm still observing sha but what I can say in brevity is that Nigeria forgot its roots before oil boom and as expected, she is heading towards her peril. Only if they had listened to us before now, we'll be having something to fall back on. ... Not in the mood to type much today sha....

The President is so dumb by that statement of Goat (corrupt officials/pdp) and Yam (National Treasury). He's said if you don't want Goat to eat

the yam, you pack the yams away from the goat... what! How about leave the yam and the goat while you are close by holding a stick

(EFCC/ICPC), with a stern look in your face, would the goat approach the yam? Goat being a sturbon animal like every pdp criminal will

definately try to make attempt but when you hit d goat or corrupt official with the stick (EFCC/ICPC) gbam! The goat won't come near again

and other goat/pdp criminal will learn from the punishment.

We have a President that's so dull and evil. Why worrying yourself packing truck loads of yam away because of some few Goats (Fayose,

Fani-kayode, Daizine, Ngozi, Clark, Koro, Ihejirika, Maina, Moro) etc

What a silly analogy! This President is NOT in anyway inspiring

In your mind now you'll feel you've made sense with this trash you typed, right?

No inflow of foreign investment, oil money directed more to fighting Boko Haram, than to development.

Southern Nigeria politicians are acting one Nigeria mugu politicians for the benefit of northern Nigeria politicians who indirectly invented Boko Haram when they adopted use of sharia criminal laws. Boko Haram maintains that it is fighting for a country governed by sharia criminal laws.

Boko Haram has drained Nigeria up financially but many Nigerians, especially the politicians from the south play Mumu one Nigeria, instead of detaching their people and areas from Nigeria.

Boko Haram are not a foolish band of anarchists that go about killing people. They have an objective: making Islam the only religion in Nigeria, making use of sharia criminal justice system the only justice system in Nigeria.

Nigeria may fight them till eternity.

Pls remove Anambra state from that list. Why every state is struggling to pay their salaries debts, anambra increased theirs by 15% and will still increase it again b4 dec next year. I think apga should be a model party in Nigeria. They are blessed in virtual all things and truely take the lead.
