Lower PHYSICAL standards for job is not the kind of in between measures that are needed when it is clear that men surpass women physically. Not all men can even pass the physical tests so this case is moot. What I think is that for fields where woman can compete but are unfairly discriminated against either there is a quota or there simply is no discrimination (we all know that is the real task).

There is a lot to be explained, actually, sir. And the explanation is nothing but "Quota In Action". This real life incident lends credence to the argument of the anti-quota camp. Whether she's qualified or not is irrelevant. What's relevant, though, is that this "firefighter" will be deployed to someone's burning building one day and be expected to justify her employment. Most of everything you said was pretty nonsense and this whole post was a loaded and a bait. Men are not superior in cognition and bigger brain size does not relate to cognition either and trust me I know, I am a Cognitive Neuroscience major from UOIT. ( What relates is Body mass to Brain size instead of just Brain size) Both sexes also have disadvantages and advantages which cancels each other out and technically makes them equal. I will give you a list of disadvantages and advantages between gender in the context of cognition :

MAN

Advantages -

Better Visuospatial reasoning which gives Math majors an advantage in solving geometric or calculus problems. ( But not calculation or computation)
Better Spatial ability in general(Except for Spatial memory) which gives male athletes better performance in sports or a dude fixing things/understanding cars.
Better at Sequential reasoning ( Step by step reasoning like solving a Geometric problem or fixing a bike)
50 percent stronger in women in terms of strength.
Better at risk taking
Better at competition
Better ambition and having perseverance traits
Quicker and more effective at long distance navigation
Better physical and motor coordination

All of these advantages are a result of Androgens (which includes testosterone) which enhances spatial ability , masculine traits, physical ability and supports lean muscle mass.

Disadvantages -

Insensitivity - Caused by testosterone reducing fear and activity in the emotional circuits of the brain
Lose empathy abilities during times of stress
Poor memory during stress - Hippocampus gets damaged/dampened whereas Estrogen protects the hippocampus during female stress
Lower empathy - Testosterone reducing empathy by inhibiting the transmission of oxytocin. Also because men have smaller anterior cingulate gyrus and less active insula
Lower emotional intelligence- Again caused by Androgens such as testosterone, smaller Cingulate Gyrus , less active Insula and mirror neurons ( bad at relationships and understanding other's feelings and emotions)
Lower social intelligence - Again caused by Androgens which blocks Oxytocin
More prone to aggression and lower impulse control - Caused by Testosterone receptors in the male bigger sized amygdala and also caused by smaller Pre-frontal cortex. (Pre-frontal cortex is responsible for impulse control, planning and reasoning)
Weaker regulation of emotion, mood, decision making and responsibility - caused by smaller Orbifrontal cortex

Female disadvantages -

50 percent weaker then men
Less ambition towards systematic careers which deals with objects such as Engineering, Physics, Math or Computer Programming
More sensitive physically and emotionally - Women have more pain receptors all over their body, a more active limbic system and a more active bigger anterior cingulate gyrus which is sensitive to emotions and pain.

Weaker in spatial ability - Because of less testosterone
Have mood swings - Hormonal fluctuations because of the menstrual cycle which is constantly increasing and decreasing brain chemicals.
More emotional and can hold grudges - Have a stronger emotional memory and more active limbic system
Greater emotional re-activity- Can get angry quickly due to more active limbic system

FEMALE

Advantages -

Superior in memory over men - Due to larger Hippocampus
- Remembering facts for example from books or educational material
- Recalling past memories or facts
Vocabulary or a list of words
- Better Verbal Memory
-Better Recognition ability
- Better recognizing faces, identities and people
- Better at object location and recognizing places, buildings and areas.
Better at Spatial memory ( the only spatial ability they are better in) - Due to larger Hippocampus

Better Writing ability and speed - larger prefrontal cortex and Broca's area in the brain

Better Reading processing and speed - larger prefrontal cortex and Broca's area in the brain

Better Verbal ability in general - Enchanced effects of Estrogen and large Prefrontal cortex and Broca's area
- like Reading comprehension
- Communication
- Phonological processing
- Verbal reasoning - Due to Prefrontal cortex being bigger
- Better at understanding metaphors and poetry

Superior at learning ability - Due to more Cortical connectivity in the brain and bigger Hippocampus and Caudate nuclei size
( Greater verbal ability and learning ability is why women have easier time learning multiple languages and accents)

Better Hand eye coordination - Due to stronger muscles in the eye, palm and fingers

Superior Perceptual speed
- Ability to shift attention quickly
- Pick up and perceive details

Greater Attention Span - More dopamine transmission

Superior at Multi tasking - Like engaging in multiple things at once

Better at computation, Arithmetic, calculating and estimation in Math ( but worse at mathematical problem solving)

Better at Synthesizing reasoning
- Taking individual details and combining them as a whole ( a bit like Inductive reasoning)

Superior in Insight
- Better Intuition or connecting thoughts, past experiences or ideas unconsciously
- Better at Globalized reasoning which allows them to see the whole picture in perspective.

Better at Multi dimensional thinking/reasoning
- Having wide variety of interests
- Integrating different topics and reasoning them together
- Thinking two different topics and ideas together
- Ability to switch from one topic to a completely different one

Healthier metabolism - due Estrogen

Better endurance ability - due to Estrogen

Deals with stress better - due to Estrogen

Less prone to aggression/violence/risky criminal behaviors

Healthier Skeletal muscle - due to Estrogen

Better Social Intelligence - More Oxytocin reception and bigger Frontal Lobe

Superior Emotional intelligence, regulation of emotion and Empathy - Bigger Frontal Lobe, bigger Anterior Cingulate Gryrus, more active Insula, less testosterone, more oxytocin reception, more active Limbic system
- Better emotional intelligence drives women to care and be more considerate, sympathetic and involved in social/moral issues which is why
60 percent of donations to charity are by women while women are more involved in social protests then men. This was an evolution adaptation for women to have greater care for their babies and children.

Better responsibility , planning and decision making - These are advantages for obvious evolutionary reason such as taking care of babies and collecting food/resources to support her offspring. These advantages are due to bigger frontal lobe such as greater size in Pre-frontal Cortex ( This is probably the biggest reason), Orbifrontal Cortex, Anterior Cingulate Cortex

Greater brain activity then men - Which is why women are always thinking because they have more cerebral bloodflow and oxygen transmission in the brain which drives them to worry more but plan, think and be more concerned about her priorities.


So I gave you a list of advantages and disadvantages in both genders which obviously indicates neither is smarter or superior. Man have an advantage in Visuospatial reasoning while Women have an advantage in Emotional intelligence and Verbal reasoning. But there is no doubt women have a higher functional level then men as more women graduate high school and university over men, beat men in grades and exams all the way from Kindergarten and even within University. This is probably due to some of the advantages I have listed. And men still contribute a lot to society especially because of the Male Bell Curve where evolution produces a of talented male geniuses ( like 1 percent of the population) but also produces a looot of dumb males, criminals, drug addicts, dictators, mentally ill, homeless and high school drop outs. We still get the benefit from the 1 percent of male geniuses who run the Science industry and improve our society. So all in all, both genders contribute great to society and are equal.


PS- It is stupid insult to women to state men have better cognition then them. The average woman has a bigger Prefrontal Cortex then a man which makes her literally better at general reasoning ( not spatial reasoning or dealing with mechanics) , responsibility, commitment, planning and decision making over men. Men make up for their disadvantage with better Spatial reasoning which is essentially critical in the important STEM fields like Math and Physicals. So yeah, women have a lot of superior skills over men because Prefrontal Cortex is what makes is human and logical while it is also larger r in women but since men also have one ability which is so critical to society (Spatial ability), it balances out both genders being equal. We need both genders to effectively run society.

No this is not generalization. Not all objects that is thrown up will come down but if i say everything that's thrown up must come down no one sees anything wrong with it. It is the rule not the exception much like the entitlement belief most women weave into a beautiful turban around their heads.

Quotas and merits are parallels. No need to sugar coat issues. How can two people aiming at working in a company in the same department with the same job responsibilities be screened using different procedures - in this case gender. Throw in everybody and establish a fair fight. Those who win, merit it. Those who fail should lick their wounds. Nature doesn't support quotas. It is survival of the fittest.

Now this isn't even an issue to say the least. Any sensible business person realizes the importance of track record and branding in decision making. Why don't you go out and throw your money at the next person that suggests a brilliant business plan? No track record, no portfolio and no branding. It is simply the way of business and that doesn't in any way impede the ability of women to penetrate the bias. It just makes it harder which is FAIR!

'Generalization' and 'stereotype' are just politically correct words. They are truths that are exaggerated and nothing more. Women are more emotional - truth; men are more aggressive - truth. The blanket statement using words such as generalizations/stereotypes is indeed inconsequential when profit margins are considered.
If that is the case let's throw away generalizations and while we are at it statistics and logic too so that we can live in an ideal world where objects cannot be studied in groups to arrive at informed and excellent conclusions just because 'all men are not the same or all women are not the same'
ah i forgot... women enjoy fantasizing too. Newsflash this is a practical world and not an ideal one.
