Timbuktou:There is nothing disingenuous about my post you simply choose to put on your blinkers. DO NOT LOWER PHYSICAL STANDARDS is that clear enough for you? I do not support THIS KIND OF COMPROMISE. If a physical requirement bars women then so be it. This is not the case in fields that DO NOT REQUIRE PHYSICAL STANDARDS. |

pickabeau1:As I had to point out I do not support the lowering of physical standards. They are in place for a reason. That is a bad decision on the part of the Fire Department. |

MrsChima:Nobody cares if it's a cancer thing. The bottomline, and I would like you to really consider this comment, is that feminism-inspired quota representation has given this sort of travesty a toga of existential legitimacy. This lazy woman would not have this job if her employer didn't think he was jeopardising his job by not employing this clown. In summary: if not for feminism, this tragedy-in-waiting would not exist. ![]() |

pickabeau1:I think that's really crazy and unproffesional of whoever made it okay for her to graduate without meeting requirements. I think she should retake the exercise if that's on the list or should fail out, if that's the policy. I'm all about by the books. |

Timbuktou:What else do you want me to say other than what I said about your multiple "quota" questions and assertions? Since you implied that only lazy and incompetent women are being employed because of "feminism" and fear of legal implications...those lazy and incompetent women in top positions have made Donald Trump billions of dollars. ![]() If it wasn't for affirmative actions...Black/African men wouldn't have a chance next to white and Asian men. ![]() Yes...Black and African men are discriminated every day...who is fighting for tour likes? ![]() |

LordReed:1. Actually, my points are laid bare. You're the one who's been dancing around them Atilogwu-style. 2. Ok, only physical standards? Or there are no women who would do better than some men? I think you should be saying standards should not be lowered. Simple. 3. Aww. How cute, yet you support the structure that brings such things to fruition. I doubt you've ever paid any money to a lawyer to debate triviality because a womyn is having hormonal imbalances. Do you think a businessman or employer would pay $270k for employment consultancy because he just feels like it? That money could have gone into growing that business or just saving it for the rainy day. Anyway, moving on. 4. Tell that to Wax's employer who was faced with a government-sanctioned, feminism-inspired litigation if Wax so felt. Ah, this is getting boring. 5. In those fields, women not being employed was precisely because they did not qualify for those jobs. End of story. Nobody is targeting anybody. If anything employers are looking for people to help them achieve the goals of their organisation. Whether they are men or women is totally irrelevant. By the way: have this for your condition. It's not easy to shout on the internet. It takes a lot to press that caps lock. PS: couldn't find water. Use your spit.

Timbuktou....why is it harder for you to acknowledge sex discrimination exist in the workplace? You want Lord Reed to accept that women not being hired simply because they do not qualify for jobs. But you can't acknowledge sex discrimination? Hypocrisy. |

Nonso23:I never wrote that it was immune to circumvention and I did write that it is a stop gap measure until such a time as when discrimination is no longer a problem. Quotas and merits are parallels. No need to sugar coat issues. How can two people aiming at working in a company in the same department with the same job responsibilities be screened using different procedures - in this case gender. Throw in everybody and establish a fair fight. Those who win, merit it. Those who fail should lick their wounds. Nature doesn't support quotas. It is survival of the fittest. You are over simplifying what this is. The quota does not remove the requirements, it does not lower the requirements, it merely gives chance for a demographic to compete for the same position with at least a chance that they will be employed regardless of any bias. Would you be angry if a quota was given to people with disabilities? Now this isn't even an issue to say the least. Any sensible business person realizes the importance of track record and branding in decision making. Why don't you go out and throw your money at the next person that suggests a brilliant business plan? No track record, no portfolio and no branding. It is simply the way of business and that doesn't in any way impede the ability of women to penetrate the bias. It just makes it harder which is FAIR!Men are brighter than women is not a track record it is a generalisation. 'Generalization' and 'stereotype' are just politically correct words. They are truths that are exaggerated and nothing more. Women are more emotional - truth; men are more aggressive - truth. The blanket statement using words such as generalizations/stereotypes is indeed inconsequential when profit margins are considered. So you'd be happy if a company you were applying for a job at told you "Sorry we can't employ you because you are Nigerian and Nigerians are frauds"? Generalisations are harmful when they impede understanding, cooperation, progress and growth. They maybe useful for preparing data and other stuff but when they vilify a group simply for exclusionary purposes they should be discarded. Yes it is a practical world and we should practice our way into growing our society not perpetuating discriminations because "that is how it has been". |
