I was being sarcastic when I said it is true. Pipe welding should not cost more than a thousand, oil and gas 2000. The rest is labour charges if you are ok with it.

The compartment that accepts & retains discs is bad, costs around 5k to replace.

I'm currently in a serious dilemma, I'm currently paying a price I never bargained for. My 2001 Honda Accord V6 had a water pump issue. This subsequently led to a overheating incident. The water pump was changed, but the temperature gauge still refuses to drop. I changed the thermostat even washed the radiator yet no change. My mechanic said there's no other option than to change the gasket. He said the Gasket will cost an average of #10,000.

1. I wanna know if there's any adverse effect that could affect the performance of the car after the gasket has been changed.
2. What is the likelihood of such problem resurfacing?

No he didn't. I only told him the amount I bought the gasket as against the 10,000 he said his mechanic said it will cost for each... Meaning, he will still get charged for workmanship

I have had the overheating issue resolved. Gasket wasn't even the problem. After changing the gasket, the overheating still persist until he removed the AC condenser in front of the radiator. According to him, the condenser is damaged n is supposed to be see through which is currently not. The technician explained that d fan was suppose to suck d hot air inside the engine out(as explained by someone here earlier) but as d condenser is blocked, suction became difficult. I don't know how true it was but all I can say it, the issue has been resolved and no more overheating. I hope this little explanation will help someone here.

Hello guys.
My 07 Accord is due for oil change. Problem is I just discovered that I've bin using the wrong oil spec. I believe the required is 5w20(which I've bin unable to lay my hands on) . Buh I've bin using Mobil 1 whch is 5w40. I got milemaster 5w20 but I'm v sceptical abt using it cos nobody I kno uses it and in not sure wot the outcome mite be.
Shud I continue using the available 5w40? Are there any untoward long and short term effects? Is milemaster a reliable brand.?
I don't wanna mess things up.

Yours was better you had it fixed. I had to change the complete engine when my own overheating issue became so rapant and annoying.
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Belvinho(m): 5:54pm On Aug 09, 2015
Thanks Guys, I got the car fixed without changing the Gasket. The water pump which was changed was the genesis of the whole problem. The brand new water pump which was changed was responsible. Just before the gasket was to be changed, another mechanic asked that the car be scanned after which it was tested with another radiator. The new guy immediately asked for the water pump to be changed. A Tokunbo water pump from Ladipo was fixed and the car now moves like a Jetliner.

Very easy, resurface brake rotors if still within safe limits.

So I went to anoda mech to hv the rotors checked, dude kept insisting that wot I needed was wheel balancing without checking the rotors. I left him without fixing the car becos from my little research online lots of pple had similar issue and resurfacing or changing the disc solved the ish. Will look for someone more competent tmrrw.
Thnks.

Don't let any 'mechanic' confuse you.

Either do as Gazzuzz advised OR

I'd advise you replace your warped brake discs (rotors) with a new set AND replace your brake pads as well. The steering vibration will disappear.

Cheers!
