I did mine in Lagos. Those officers there behaves adnormally. Illegal money was passing from one hand to another. The level of extortion there is mind blowing. Give a man half a power and he try to play the role of God.

I did my passport 18k and collect it the same day, so I see no reason for charging extra,its unfair.

You never see anything, they are all thieves, when I went to enquire about change of name for my passport, I met with one of them at alagbon, inside office oh, the thief open his mouth tell me 60k, while the official price is around 18k and I will still have to go to Abuja. Thank God for nairaland, someone connected me to someone at Abuja who took 35 k and processed everything before I went for capture, it was boldly written everywhere at the Abuja head office, why can't they do the same at all their offices nation wide?

The reality is that even when official price was 10000 you need to pay between 16k and 18k if you are to collect before close of work..If you wish to collect in just 1hrs or 2, you will part between 30k and 40k.
. If you want to go for official price then you should ready to climb mountain as procedure to be laid down that include LG letter, letter from the king in your town, affidavit from court etc will not even allowed you to complete the process in the next 1 month..
We have to live by the corruption for now until wind of change get to the agency..
You just need to apply for passport via postoffice if you reside and need it in US and after completing the form and make online official payment you are to get it also through poat office.. But here in Nigeria you will need to waste a whole day upon payment of excessive fee and the only menu they will serve you under hot iron roofing sheet shed in ibadan is showing you local station prog (because) just to wine away time.

mine was re-issued for 25k this January at enugu, they said the price had gone up since April last year. i guess its bcux all the officers has turned themselves to agents

IF YOU APPLY ONLINE, HOW SURE ARE YOU THAT YOU WON'T PAY EXTRA FEES AT THE IMMIGRATIONS OFFICE WEN YOU GO TO COLLECT IT.?

You should have researched the info online before going to NIS. If you didn't, how did you know their requirements/documents to take with you? The source of the requirements has all the information including the cost. You got hustled and the money is gone.

The immigration officers get salary to do this. There's nothing like express as they are capable of and have been ordered to deliver passport same day.

That he went to an immigration officer to make enquiries , this is someone that was suppose to be authority on such matters, someone that is being paid with our hard earned money to provide such service and the person lied and cheated him and you are here calling him ignorant.
Did he go to passer by, traders or just any individual ?

God will help us.I see no reason why someone should pay as much as 10,500 extra to get an intl passpt.

Simply tell the person the official price, and the required supporting documents . It is left for them to ask for help in procuring those supporting documents

NB:There is no where you can get Nigerian standard passport @ 17k,There are other administrative charges that doesn't go to Immigration account to part with I.e DW post charges etc..However,my agent delivers within 24hrs with 25k..if u ar in Asaba,onitsha,awka,owerri etc ping me on BBM 2920464a to connect u to my agent for prompt delivery @ 25k.

You have to go straight to the main oga of that branch and inquire from him, then, you can start your sparking on top of his head (at least, the oga wey u dey see) if the order is really from the toppest top, that is, Abuja main office.

It's unnecessary to require people to get all sorts of documents just to acquire a passport.
