The amount of fraud and sad experience Nigerians are made to pass through at passport offices and no one cares to fix is a practical example of what we have. With that amount you will be sent to the VIP where they have one and you capture and collect same day or next.
The question is why is it so difficult to fix just the suffering Nigerians go through at every instance. there is a queuing system but during every evaluation of service centers the evaluator must grade the effectiveness and then how many hours it takes to be attended.This is the international standard.When you go to the VIP you scan quickly but go to the general and see how persons waste the whole day

Trust me u don't wanna go through the rigours that comes with 17k

In Asaba, it ranges from 25k to 27.5k. Lowest you can do it is 24k.

You weren't 'cheated' per say. It is the corruption in that system. It needs to b sanitized.

It would have been better if he helped you secure the P that same day.

As long as you get your passport, thats all that matters. The immigration officer will probably pull strings so you don't have to queue for hours. It isn't the change we need but sometimes we need to get things done on time

that's d problem with Nigerians.always accepting fate even when its wrong y won't they continue their ill acts. Even if one has d money to pay it is still bad.something must b done if we want development in this country n stop settling for less

Op that's the price everywhere, I did mine same price at their Ikeja office but I got it same day. The advantage of paying that extra 10,000 is that it will be ready that same day or within a week compare to those who do it online who will have to wait for 8 - 12 weeks before they get it.

Really? You mean it could take up to 8-12 weeks? These people need to be told to either sit up or be shipped out of the service. What are they being paid for?

U weren't cheated, the extra 10k was for quick delivery of ur passport, if u follow the normal process it might take weeks to do ur capturing, ND more weeks to get ur passport

You are right with the official price, but the thing is you will have to wait some months before your application can get processed. If you are not in a hurry, then, goodluck.

Date of collection is 3days from the date of application. It's written on the print-out given to me...

That price of 27.5k is constant.. It is even pasted permanently on their board in their office in Osogbo.. That is the instruction givn to them by their bosses whereas only 17k will be remitted to govt..

What receipt? The application is now online... I was only given a print out after I did the biometric scanning...

you think so? heheje.... when I did mine, I got it same day... same with a friend of mine.... and What I paid was 17500.... no extra charge.... that was in Benin... my friend did his at Asaba.

This is a very good and often asked question.
You can actually complete all necessary application and payment online but you must appear before a Passport Control Officer in your Passport office of choice for 'capturing', production and collection.
During this time, the applicant undergoes one on one interview with a screening officer to establish :
A) That he/she is a Nigerian
B) That he /she is not a public charge and not likely to be one
C) That the applicant has the father's consent to obtain a Passport where the applicant is a minor
D) Others
It is during this interview that your documents come into play.

a friend did his own at asaba at 17,500 and even got it same day same with me.... I did mine at Benin At 17500 also and I waited n collected it same day in less than 4hrs

I paid and waited for interview and biometric scanning. While waiting, I talked to people around who then informed me that the official amount was and still is 17k. I thought they were joking. Then, I opened immigration website to see the authenticity of what I was told. I saw 17k as official price. I was flabbergasted. I realised that I have been duped of 10500 by immigration staff.

Na we de take our hand look for trouble. You're computer literate and educated, you could have carried on witb your passport acquisition online without resortinto seeking and immigration officer's assistance. You probably did to get undue advantage and now you rush here to cry wolf because of the 'service charge'. The amount charged you is for running the rounds by the officer to help you get your passport out on time. You could have waited weeks if you did it yourself. Other factors to consider include but not limited to availability of passport booklets.

You could not be more wrong.... you are not only jumping to conclusion, you are flying into it... For your information, i did my research. I even checked different threads on nairaland about getting international passport. The least price I saw was 27k as some got theirs 30k.... Nobody said anything about 17k being official price even there is no quick access to official price on immigration website. You have to first check on 'apply online' icon, register your details and proceed to payment before you see the price... Anyway, i've learnt my lessons

You should have researched the info online before going to NIS. If you didn't, how did you know their requirements/documents to take with you? The source of the requirements has all the information including the cost. You got hustled and the money is gone.

No, i am not

...it won't be easy to process your passport yourself because of the administrative bureaucracy. It'll take more than one month if you intend to process your passport without the officers on ground,that's if you don't give up while trying.

Ordinarily ur pasport ought to be ready within 24hour bt dere machine sometimes manfunctioned and mite not be ready within dat 24hour....dsame man did it for my frend last week bt due to dere machine wahala.d'passport culd nt be ready for 3days

Before processing your passport, make sure you have original date of birth certificate, original certificate of origin, two passport(your pictures), a guarantor's international passport and driver's licence photocopies and his/her passport. All these will be asked from you during interview. Take along voter's card or national id because they can find fault in your certificate of birth... If you want to pay online yourself, activate your ATM card for online transaction and go to their site for registration https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/... After you register and pay online, print out the confirmatory page and proceed to any immigration office in Nigeria for further processing and take along all the documents I mentioned above... The location is immigration office, agodi gate, Ibadan... when you get to Agodi gate, ask anybody for direction to their office...

lack of 32 page is the latest scam by the immigration officials, they will tell you to pay #25,000 to #28,000 for 32page but no guaranty as to when it will be ready, then you are asked to pay #35 for 64page, i,ve paid #30,000 for 64page i,ve been waiting for three days now i still have not gotten it, i,m processing mine in Benin edo state, they all claim they have added money, but will never allow you to go to the bank yourself to make payments

The guy even said that 32 page passport was unavailable as at two months ago but they brought they were using some weeks ago... I am hurt because I know all what I know now after i've been duped... if I knew then, I would have paid online myself... I am going to collect it tomorrow and I will challenge him and ask for refund of part of the money if not all...
