Dear All,
I had the experience of "sooperrescue's professional expertise" today.
I was asking myself "why I had not known about his services much earlier" as it would have saved me monies and moments of disappointment from "Lebanese & Nigerian inexperienced mechanics" that are only using the knowledge of Japanese vehicles to repair Range Rovers by trial and error methods at the expense of the owner's funds whilst still being charged exorbitantly for their ineptitude and shear incompetence.
I am glad and my vehicle rides like smooth.
God bless you, Sir and keep up the good work.
What can I say? Thanks and I appreciate you.

Exqwizit:

Hello sooper, please expansiate on: amala with ewedu ati kpomo meji or u want amala with ewedu mixed with gbegiri and ogufe kpelu orisirisi in terms of the Hse and supercharged, which is which?
A Range Rover Sport Supercharged is not in the same category with an HSE. Even though they look alike, they are not in the same category. The power in the Supercharged cannot be compared with an HSE, that is the difference.

Hi Sooperrescue,
I've been reading ur post most part of today.
I just got a 2012 RRsport HSE GT Limited Edition.
Currently the fuel is low and im about to fill it up and have the first real drive in it.
But, been reading lots about octane this unleaded that, leaded this, premium that.
Honestly i got this car by share miracle, so if anything happens to it kpeken!!(God forbid)...na to park am o...lol. grin

I hear fuel sold in 9ja is 91octane Unleaded, which means i shunt worry. There are those who are pro booster too
but then i've read again the damage boosters can do to some sensitive parts of RR.
I know u sell boosters, but I confident u are honest enough to tell, do I need a booster?
Or the 91octane 9ja fuel is good enough?

we dont have premium fuel in Nigeria. We have regular unleaded fuel and range rover complained against boosters because they were looking at the US market where they have premium unleaded and people still use boosters. They never factored Nigeria in the research but wrote about us that the use of low octane fuel will lead to poor fuel economy which will eventually lead to severe engine damage. The 5.0 engine of the new breed range is failing like a pack of cards and the toks engine alone can buy a 2006 RRS hse, so since you don dey threaten to deal with the range detractors, the booster is one of your effective weapons to terminate all those fiery eyes on the range till Dangote begins production of high octane fuel in 2017? Till then, we are still selling the boosters

Haaaa!!! Hope my spec is not part of the new breed range o. grin
Ok, so what do you recommend? What booster do you vouch for.
How do i go about this, cos I need to get it done today so i can move the automobile home.
Can you help with the steps to the how, wheres and whats to start this RR journey on a smooth note?
Or can I just fill up the automobile for now and just move it home, if it wont cause any damage immediately?
I appreciate. Thanks Sooper

you can buy fuel and take it home. At least let everyone at home share the wonderful moment with you first. The engine ecu will adjust the performance of the range, the oxygen sensors will scream for help and the knock sensor will be on active duty and the check engine light will give you yellow card. If the car is in Lagos, we can supply you five cartons of johnsens octane booster, tried and tested. Try and also get extended warranty for the range so that there would never be any reason to park the car over issues on the range. We, the owners of the old breed RR envy you a lot but like an expert said, the old breed RR has been tried and tested, hence upgrading our breed to look like yours is now the in thing.

That is the misconception about the suspension issues. Yes it is there but it can be fixed with little effort and little money. Mine have been on the road for 5 years now and I have only changed one air suspension for just N60,000. But I have changed the lower and upper arms on many occasions because I travel on many occasions with the Jeep. On many occasions, I spend N12000 for fuel from Lagos to Abuja and when you are on a long journey, to stop and refresh yourself is very difficult. I just dont want to end the thrill, wanting it to continue. We, my outfit, now fix suspensions on Range Rovers without stress.

Please where is your workshop?? Thanks. undecided

Commercial octane boosters are a scam.

For example, if one says it'll raise your octane by 7 points. This is what they mean:

87 Octane + 7 Point Octane Boost = 87.7 Octane.

NOT 94 Octane.

oh trust me, even worse!!
read them again...
most of addtive says "up to 5 points", "up to 10 points", or "up to 20 points"
what does that mean?

it means it goes up anywhere from 0 to 20 points,
so u might get only 1 points after all....who knows?

87+0.1=87.1
wow....how sad~

From my experiences, add a bottle to a full tank.
u wouldn't feel any difference....
and it actually reduce the gas mileage for that tank of gas with booster.
what I mean is:
a reguler tank of gas: 36 mpg
tank of gas with oct boost: 30~32mpg

they do help clean up ur fuel injecters though,
so it's not bad to use it once a while.

anyway, I wouldn't recommand to use them on old cars,
cause the alcohol from the booster tend to destory or aging
fuel lines made of rubber, gaskets.....etc.

Re: Range Rover Sports Club by sooperrescue(m): 9:14pm On Aug 08, 2015
The Octane Booster creates an even combustion making the injectors to burn fuel evenly. It eliminates the misfiring of the cylinder in your car. For instance on an AMG Mercedes, the premium unleaded is 93 while the normal Mercedes requires 91. If the Americans with their premium unleaded fuel still produce boosters, it is not for us but for those with 5.7 Dodge, BMW M series, AMGs and Brabus Mercedes Benz. Like you stated, they do help in cleaning fuel injectors, therefore it makes your fuel to burn evenly and the ECU will reduce the fuel that is being sent to the cylinders and therefore the misfiring will not occur. If the lab had used your Dodge as an example, then we would have been able to know if the 2 points were achieved cos your 5.7 Hemi V8 requires 93 Octane and not 91. For us here in Nigeria, we have 87 unleaded. It was a petroleum engineer that even pointed it out to me. Before, it was 90 unleaded according to SON and PPMC in my investigations in 2007. For an analysis sent to VW group in Germany, it was even 82 unleaded. That is the reason why VW cars are all dying before their time. The 2010 5.0 Range Rovers are failing here in the country and the most common cause is overheating. If your 5.7 is still on the road and not overheating or giving out little issues, please thank your Octane booster. And a quick reminder, many people never bother to change their air filter and forget that it is a mixture of air and fuel that ignites the engine but if the air is clogged, the fuel economy is compromised.

Very interesting discussion. With all this in mind, how will diesel range rovers fare in Nigeria?
Is our diesel fuel any better than the low octane petrol here?
Prior to coming back to Nigeria I owned only diesels and sorely miss their effortless torque.
I have seen lots of diesel Mercedes GLs and GLks in Abuja, but just one diesel Evoque.
Re: Range Rover Sports Club by sooperrescue(m): 10:45am On Aug 09, 2015
We recently serviced a Range Rover Hse 3.0 Diesel. The Range was very sluggish and you need to quickly speak in tongues before it will move fast, that is after 3 minutes of cajoling it. The bottom line was the diesel. We drained the diesel out of the tank and if you know how Agbo jedijedi looks like, they share the same colour. The diesel is always contaminated in Nigeria and all the importers are guilty of the crime. There are many diesel cleaners and cetane enhancers being sold in the country and one of the best in the market is fuel magic. It even works on generators too. When we were in Warri, it was one of our fast selling products as many generator owners were our major clients. The modern diesel driven SUVs are supposed to be powered by cleaner diesels that do not pollute our environment but if we have low octane fuel for Petrol driven SUVs and those in charge are not bothered, is it on diesel that they will lose sleep over?

A quick rejoinder. Your 5.7 hemi does not require premium unleaded fuel, it works perfectly with our fuel. It was a mix up and was thinking of the lexus 570. If you are having fuel economy issues, we have an injector service for all vehicles that will remove all the carbon in the engine

Hellooooo, I am really sorry for asking my question on your platform, new to nairaland and looking for where to write up a new post but don't seem to get it. Again I am really sorry.
My question
I have worked so had as a young guy and save up a lot and my business is doing too good. I love the Range Rover sports look so I researched a lot for the most reliable year from 2009 downwards and found 2007 and 2009 to be the most reliable. So I'm going with the 2009 range rover sports because the newer the better I guess.
Since the RRS 2009 requires premium fuel and nigeria doesn't offer that and octance boosters can knock or spoil the engine, what do I do about the fuel situation seeing that many Nigerians use RRS and seem to put some kind of fuel to keep their RRS moving.
Thanks for your time and once again , sorry.

You have done a good research and we don't have premium unleaded fuel in Nigeria hence the resort to octane boosters. The range rovers that you find with engine issues are those that never knew that they had choices as regards the fuel they use on their Range Rovers. I have been using octane boosters since 2009 in response to my passat 2005 and Mercedes e class that all died because of the fuel in Nigeria. In an interview with Ppmc top officials in Abuja in 2007, they told me that anyone driving cars that are not using our fuel are on their own. In 2008, I began researching on boosters and we had already began test samples using toluene, kero and atf and later settled for Johnsens octane boosters. There are over six brands of octane boosters currently in Nigeria. Stp, abro, nulon, Johnsens and dyno tabs. We have been selling Johnsens since 2009 and until 2017, when dangote start selling high grade fuel, we'll still be supplying all our loyal clients. Welcome to the new thrills your RRS will give you but get a booster.
