We practice punitive laws and lawless justice in Nigeria, unless it can be proven that the girls suicide isn't suicide and/or is secondary to psychological persuasion and/or trauma/induced fear by the boyfriend(s) i don't see why they he/they should be hounded and arrested. Suicide is a tragedy, it is not a crime

I remember a ex Nigerian footballer claimed sex was consensual when he was being tried for having sex with a 13 or 14 year old.

Teenagers need to be productively engaged rather than the undue restrictions which many here have supported. For those who are saying that parents are to be blamed, let me share this first hand experience with you. I still remember a particular secondary school in the 80's and 90's that operated the university style residence. It had all boarding students, no day student. However, it was different from other secondary schools in that it did not have prefects, day uniforms, cafeteria, boarding master, scheduled activities after school hours, and all those regimental structured life. People could go and visit at will, student could go to any canteen or restaurant to buy their food the number of times of their choice in a day, evening reading was optional and you were free to have anyone as your study partner. Students did not have to take permission to exit school, class attendance was optional. Porters were available to sweep the rooms and class, wash the bathrooms, cuts grasses and do other maintenance. There were sports and other recreations like; swimming, lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton etc

Guess what? They were uncompromisable rules. Academic standard was rigorous. Students were expects to score 80 and above in all nine subjects. A 79% in English or Maths was automatic expulsion. Visiting the female hostel after 6pm was automatic expulsion. Even when you visit an opposite sex hostel, at the regular time,you are limited to the Common Conference Area. You were tested every week for each subject. There was no teacher with a Bachelors degree, it was either masters or PhD. Well stocked library were open 7am - 9pm. Labs were first class. Like universities, the school had Students Affairs department were misunderstanding among students were settled.

You know what? Students from this school turned out to be first class students in their later years in universities. Even without the close supervision from parents and teachers, these students competed among themselves for better grades. Cases of 9 As were common, boys and girls equally. It was a unique model, that which proofed that even without much restrictions, teenagers could still do well as long as they are actively engaged in productive ways. This model taught the students to be able to live an independent life earlier than their peers. It gave them a head start, compared with other new students in their early university days.
