The Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has denied being
owner of the proposed Badagry Dry Dock Project
as being speculated in some quarters.
The organisation said the speculation was false as
Nigeria LNG was not the owner and was not
investing in the building of any dry dock.
Nigeria LNG, it said, has a singular business focus
– processing and exporting LNG, and has no
interest in investing in a dry dock anywhere in the
world.
The owner of the proposed dry dock in Badagry is a consortium of other Nigerian companies under the name of Badagry Ship Repair and Maritime
Engineering Company (BSMEC), which the NLNG is
not a part of.
According Kudo Eresia-Eke, general manager
(external relations), NLNG, in a press statement,
NLNG’s only interest is and still remains,
encouraging investors to consider building dry
docks in the country to save the nation’s foreign
exchange and save local ship owners, like
ourselves, the trouble of having to go overseas for
dry dock services.
“Nigeria LNG would thus be pleased to see more
dry dock projects emerge in different parts of the
country, but will not be investing in any. It is thus
fair to add that not being an investor in dry dock,
NLNG cannot dictate to investors where to site their projects,” according to the statement.
The company has therefore appealed to those who
are issuing threats based on wrong information to
review their position in the light of this clarification.
Besides, threats can only discourage other
investors from coming to the region.
It assured those agitating that the NLNG remained a good and valuable corporate citizen helping to build a better Nigeria.

cheesy Perhaps now the militants will retract their threats against the NLNG. Smh. I wonder how they expect to attract much-desired big investments to their region via these sort of threats.

The biggest investments in nigeria are mostly situated in the niger-delta.
All the oil rigs installations, oil and gas processing plants e.t.c. are huge capital projects that are based in the niger-delta without encountering any problems.
Nigeria is by far the largest producer of crude in africa because the niger-delta is investment friendly.
So building a ship yard which is a relatively smaller investment compared to the above away from the niger-delta is highly suspicious because it dosen't make any sense.
I don't support militancy though.

The investors have made their decision on where to situate their yard, NLNG has also disclaimed any stake in it beyond moral support, yet you are still talking about suspicion. The shipyard isn't primarily meant to service oil and gas vessels but other bigger multi-purpose ships. The governments of the Niger-Delta should endeavor to make their region more secure, investors-friendly and deliver dividends of good governance, perhaps then their own people may become less restive and militant.

The niger-delta is investment friendly. Nigeria is the biggest producer of crude in africa because of that fact.
There is no place in Nigeria more peaceful or relatively organized for investment like akwaibom or crossriver.
Anyway, i learnt a major stakeholder in the project is a yorubaman. So, I am not surprised at the outcome.

Correct.
With all the billion dollars investment and limited footprint in Nigeria as a whole, how many people do they directly employ . Shell has less than 6000 staffs despite making over $10 billion annually .SME employ the vast majority of people in developed nation . More investments like you see in ogun , Lagos and ibadan is The way to redemption.
The Niger sweatshops tell their elites to grow some brains and stop building hotels and amusement park. The citizen should also stop voting for tinpot dictators and thugs
