A Street In Onitsha When It Rains Lightly by ebner70(op): 7:16pm On Aug 09, 2015
I wonder if there is an LGA chairman here

Re: A Street In Onitsha When It Rains Lightly by HungerBAD:
Don't see how this is directly the Government's fault.

From what i see, there are drainage on both sides of the road. But, the problem here is the housing. The houses are not well planned, and are blocking the drainage route.

Unless most of this buildings, are demolished to make way for the water to go through, then this will be a permanent problem. If the houses are demolished, there will be cries against the Government.

---Modified---

I look forward to the day this Governor will cross over to APC, he has APC Qualities.

It will take a lot to take care of erosion problem in Onitsha. Visited Onitsha myself - It rained today again in Awada. Even last night it rained too. They were all light rain though.

Re: A Street In Onitsha When It Rains Lightly by egift(m):
Here will be my recommendation on this water logs on the street:

- Deeper drainage systems should be constructed through out the streets and linked together.
- The streets should be tarred. One thing Sullivan did well in Enugu was taking care of the street. Onitsha have many tall beautiful buildings, but the roads in the streets are something else. Even the Landlords Association (which is very powerful) can afford to fix their ends.
- Places in low topography should have a form of pumping system or a collector from the drainage system.

All the same I commend the Governor on his effort on Security.

No one should blame government here they deserve what they are getting.
what will it take one to clear his or her drainage? no they would not do that. They will rather heap garbage on them, This is small, the next one will be more disastrous..

if it dares rain in southwest like this houses will not be immersed in water but dissolved in water, because mud can not withstand water for long. It will practically destroy those huts

Are these not brown roofs. Some hypocritical troublemakers insulting their Yoruba counterparts on what I have just seen.

Nigerians, let's remember peace and unity. Buhari will soon initiate infrastructure development soon. Patience is key.

The kids are here already, at the end of it all no solution will be proffered but condemnation and bigotry.

Any structure that does not conform to the master plan of Onitsha should be demolished and adequate drainage constructed in its place.

Bruh.. That's not onitsha, that place is nkpor. It's very close to onitsha tho. This is the same road that Obiano went to during his last visit...it was reported on nairaland before

I am not yoruba neither am i a tribal bigot. but the rate at which yoruba lands or yorybas have been attacked by some folks from the east, i am now wondering what difference this pic is to Oshogbo or Ibadan cos that seems to be the highest casualty from their attacks. I can also see brown roofs, old cars and dirts littered everywhere. All this senseless attacks really needs to be stopped!!!!

Onitsha has a Master plan? did not know that. Are we counting the Upper Iweka too to be among the Master plan?
