We are all great people of a great nation but sometimes we need to say the truth, I was called to inspect a roof today after it was done by a professional carpenter as he said o because I had to tell the owner to call him to the building the man moved in about 7months ago but he was surprised whenever little breeze blows the Aluminium roofing shakes and I had to climb but to my surprise some of the woods are weak and to carry the Aluminium on it, I asked myself could dis be what the owner paid for, I decided to call someone who knows abt woods , and he should be around soon to tell me what kind of wood was used for dis man. The woods are not up to 1yr plus o , when u get woods from sawmill , make sure u verify the woods very well , dey can mix it up either through a plan work by the carpenter or just sawmill dealers o, so that u won't av to pull down your roof to make amendments

brabus:

In a typical construction project, there are lot of people involved from the architect, the surveyor, the builder etc.

The builder does not handle all the work. Other professionals are involved. There are clients I've worked with here on nairaland who has to employ the service of consultants (electrical, mechanical and structural) who has to inspect and certify every stage of construction before the builder progresses to another stage.

There's Lagos state building control agency who issue certificate of fitness. There's Lagos state material testing laboratory who check the quality of all materials and concrete mixes.

It's not enough to assume we've employed a builder who's both the player and the umpire.

Edit:

If you are awarded a contract, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that everything is delivered as per SPECIFICATION. The client is not obliged to check every step that you take. If you are just a 'project manager' you should have other competent professionals working with you to ensure that the project is delivered as per specification. Problem will always arise when you dont have the requisite professionals. Do you have a structural engineer who confirm and ensure that your iron bender has done the right things for example?

Why only Brabus?

I know I'm not perfect but I know I'm not whom most people tag me. But what do you do when someone threatens to write rubbish about you on an online forum? Beg, play along or fight back? I'll need your honest advice on this.

More on Brabus later on this thread. I decided to fight this particular issue head on because I know its the usual tradition. A similar project was done and the project coordinator took N2m upfront and still went ahead and report me to his sister.

@Bolded...I have never seen anyone so openly indict themselves...in other words you cannot be trusted. You can connive with third parties to extort money from your clients?

I am pained, Bosun. Please, please let this all be a dream!

The professional bodies would usually have a list of their members.

I think all seun can do is decide if someone can continue to be a member of nairaland.

Despite what he says Brabus is not a builder all he does is coordinate the process ie project manage and for that you can use transferable skills from another sector and get better on the job.

In 9ja even some with the paper qualifications do not have sufficient experience or competency.

As a project manager you are duty bound to ensure that you have qualified professionals in your team.

I ask again, who confirms that the structural drawings are complied with? Who is interpreting the drawings for the iron bender? Who is interpreting the drawings for the electrician?

There is a difference between paper qualification and professional certification. There is a reason why COREN stamp need to be placed on a structural drawing.

Oh Brabus!!!! Wish I had your number to privately call you! Its a horrible scene on this your thread these days. To see you been fired from all angles man. Worst of all you ain't helping your case. It's high Time you apologise to all those you have wronged and those you haven't wrong but are using the medium to hit you liked they have always wished man. After days without the fire dying out, don't you think Defending yourself further is doing you more harm than good? Guy take my advise please. Your Strength has turned out to be your greatest enemy. You have too much packaging skills that its clouding your ability to deliver. You have relied too much on your packaging, that's why you're still trying to package your way out. Bros abeg apologise, any one keeps on bringing new stories, just tell them sorry. Even if you're been accused wrongly Agree to them that maybe you weren't professional enough, but you are getting there. You are good at these, I see it in you, but you are focusing too much on the wrong side of you. Following what has been said a lot, you have good Customer packaging (Which I wish I had), but the field work is lacking. Guy you are focusing too much on that packaging. Throw it out the door and focus more on doing your Job. Its too counter Productive to your success. because its gives you many clients and many unhappy ones at the end. thereby denting your reputation. You need your reputation intact. or do you want to remain in this stage of your career for another 20 years. Take Inspiration from Cappa and D'Alberto. I remember, constain Plc, they had too much packaging at one point, and now they can even dine on same table Cappa and D'Alberto or Julius Berger Plc. Don't you want to be remembered for the Guy that Built the Civic Center, Shoprite in Lekki, Diamond Bank close to the Toll Gate, the all Great and Beautiful house of the CEO of FCMB Bank. These were all done by builders who started small and had focus on what was required to get to the promise land.

Bros Apologise, own up totally, and move on, and you will get to that Destination you set for yourself.

Skimaski baba nice one bro , Brabus I once wrote earlier u don't have to argue with ur customers , you make them see things with your view and reasons why it was done the way u did it, customers can be very annoying sometime but there is what we studied about customer services that u really need to understand, do it the way ur customer wants his/her job done, I will share an experience with u here again, I got a job from a client and the way I do my job I make everything visible from the beginning to the end of it and along the line I sent some pictures to him and he was like are u sure dis is what I asked for, he doesn't know better than I do when it comes to my profession but I calmed him down and I will tell u how impressed he was at the end and today I call him egbon mi, I brought him closer to me, we talk to each other we exchange prayers and we talk a lot about sometin u wouldn't believe we ain't family, egbon I know u will be reading this as well I'm proud I gave u my best to ur satisfaction, your customer cannot know than you do if truely that's where u belong , when I got to his site a lot was wrong when we were installing the windows which I couldn't just imagine why some people are heartless and I must use the word greedy again, most bricklayers will use little cement to hold blocks together and even cast lintel with less cement and wait till when they plaster it and u the owner won't know the quality state of the blocks under the plaster, it's so bad with ain't sincere with ourselves again in dis country , Brabus bro u can do better when u choose to be sincere at what u offer , I feel your pains from here but I pray u stand up again doing it right ...oga mufutau55 boss toh galant I hail from here, your advice from day one has helped me here on Nairaland , mr yussuf egbon mi toh sure God bless u as I try to keep ur privacy too, u gave me a job and thanks for ur cooperation.. Let's help Brabus get up again my ogas, may we always recieve favour from all angle. My customers behind the doors I dey greet o

@brag3, you knew your sister betrayed your family, and you still trust her not to have lied about being threatened? And if your brother in London can still vouch for brabus, why is your case different? Or is it a personal vendetta against brabus for not have been the one in charge of the the juiciest part of the job? Maybe you wish you had been the contractor for your brother.

@brabus, you have to know that this "way of life" with others doesn't work for you, a lot of people get away with worse than this, don't you know God wants you to be very honest since every little thing you do is magnified? I know you thought you'd rather go with their sister than lose the job, but see where it landed you. Most Nigerians can't think, so they run with the story, and you will damage your brand if care is not taken.

I'm one of those who still believe in you cos I have open mind and know what's obnable in Nigeria, please learn to say NO to family members like this one.

What are you saying? It is you that can't think, otherwise you won't be typing this trash.

Brabus confessed to colluding with the client's sister to defraud the client and you are here saying something else.

FYI, the same thing Brabus did was one of the things that sent Bode George to prison.

This is not the first, second, third or fourth time this same Brabus is involved in something like this notwithstanding the fact that he admitted to being a quack.

No skills, no qualifications, no integrity and no conscience. That summarizes him.

One word on now-rested brag3 case: those who were castigating brabus for colluding with brag3's sister, in NIGERIA how many professionals will:
- risk the profit on a N19 million project and refuse to play ball with a family member
- how many bankers will risk losing a public sector deposit for refusing to settle the Officer in charge
- how many suppliers will risk losing a business for refusing the Purchasing Manager's request to inflate the LPO
- how many people will risk bring delayed by refusing to settle the policeman on road block.
What Brabus did was unprofessional but it is obvious that a large majority of Nigeriand would do the same in similar situations.

Do you think my brother in UK is paying for this phase?

This just goes to show how bad our system is when fools like you can spit out utter rubbish.

If you follow my threads you will see that I apologised to Brabus if indeed he did not threaten my sister but the other things said were facts so why is a fool like you coming up with thrash?

Brag3 dont allow what is being said offend you too much as it is the way the building trade and in fact 9ja at large is.

Take note of what is being said, it just shows you that they are birds of the same feather with no moral compass.

The fact that you have taken over means you get an opportunity to see the thieves in action. Brabus is not an exception but unfortunately he is the general norm.

There is a reason why people in the diaspora are weary and they should be. You are safer assuming that anyone you deal with is going to defraud you and limit your exposure.

Good luck. Been there done that but learned from it.

Brag3 dont allow what is being said offend you too much as it is the way the building trade and in fact 9ja at large is.

Take note of what is being said, it just shows you that they are birds of the same feather with no moral compass.

@gabbytabby,

Much appreciated. I have said time and time again I bear no ill-feelings towards Brabus.
Life goes on and we learn daily. It's just a shame when people comment on issues without thinking them through.

Yes we can all say this happens in Nigeria but is it right?

When the shoe is on the other foot and we are the victim should we just keep quiet and accept it or voice out our concerns? Afterall I am not going around chasing Brabus for any refund, am I?
I am taking care of things by myself now and believe I know what I am experiencing on the site daily but at least I have more control now.

Thanks again
