First Class in what specifically?

Do they do business studies at degree level or just OND level?

I graduated in 2014 with a first class degree in business studies. I am 22 and working as a sales assistant in a clothing store. It was meant to be a part-time job for extra income while studying, however, it feels like I am going to be stuck here forever.

I am looking for office roles, in particular admin roles or those to do with HR. I’ve been applying to jobs since I graduated – I either get no response or, once in a blue moon, I get an interview, but it doesn’t end well. Most places I have applied to say I am an introvert and they prefer someone who is more confident in communicating. Or they say I lack work experience.

What I don’t get is how am I able to get work experience when no one gives me a chance? Every job requires some sort of work experience, even internships and entry level jobs. I’ve been to local recruitment agencies, handed them my CV, but it’s been three months and still no reply. I am getting more demotivated and desperate, please can you give me some advice.
Go for MSc. with that you can easily get a lecturing Job.

A first class degree grade definitely looks good on paper but what gets you the job is networking and friendship... Well hang in there and keep expecting good things ahead, work on yourself, develop on your skills and try find out what made most of the jobs you applied to end the way they were.

Graduating with a first class is not what gives the job, what gives the job is God's favour, your passion to what you like doing & consistent prayers to God... #I too graduated with a first class in 2012, certified in 2013 & served in 2014. God is the only main focus and then don't make yourself psychologically paralysed. If you can make a first class in this situation of Nigeria's educational standard, then you should believe that making it is not just a problem... #InGodITrust.

Better still... search for scholarships that fits you

Why look for employment when u can develop and employ yourself. Learn a skill or business and actualize it.

Re: First-class Can Sometimes Be Frustrating by superior1: 5:07pm On Aug 11, 2015
@OP, I think your problem is probably the first class, first knock it off your mind that you are entitled to be selected for a job because you have got a first class, start hustling for jobs like a 3rd class and also look at the prospect of various scholarships to do a Masters abroad

KillerBeauty:
Dear op
First things first, work on your cv. Give it to a professional to have a look, use Google to search for cv samples. Make sure your cv is appealing to the eyes and standard. You will be surprise the kind of response u will get after that.
Also, improve on your interpersonal. Since you work in a clothing store, there should be a lot of customers you can meet and establish a relationship with. Don't let your personality trait be a hindrance. Whether you work in an office or not, u interpersonal skills will help u get the job done. So work on that.
Lastly, prepare well for interview. I'm an introvert but u won't be able to guess that during an interview. All u need to do is b open, smile and prepare well. Google more interview tips. And have self confidence. U will b surprised at the positive result u will get
Cheers
you are blessed already. That is the kind of advice that can lift op up.
