Owerri, Aug. 11, 2015 (NAN) The Deputy Governor of Imo,
Prince Eze Madumere on Tuesday received a delegation of
investors who had indicated interest in establishing two
power plants in the state.


This is contained in a release issued by the Chief Press
Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr Uche Onwuchekwa.
According to the release, the leader of the delegation, Mr
Wilson Chukwunyere, a citizen of the state said it had been
his desire to contribute his quota toward building an
industrial base in the state.


Chukwuyere said that the first attempt to establish
industries in the state was the settinp up of a motorcycle
plant under the administration of former governor of the
state, Sam Mbakwe.


He said that the attempt was thwarted by the military
incursion into politics.
He said that the company, ``Africa Greetec'' would be
establishing a 50 megawatts power plant and another 30
megawatts Solar Energy Power plant in the state.
He, however, stressed the need for government to provide
them with an enabling environment.


The Business Development Manager of company, Mr Volker
Gutijahr expressed gratitude to the state government for
welcoming them to the state.
He assured the deputy governor that the company would
not disappoint the government if given the opportunity.
Responding, the Madumere said that Imo State Government
would ensure that it provided an enabling environment for
investors who intended to invest in the state.


The deputy governor, who received the German investors on
behalf of Gov. Rochas Okorocha expressed sadness over
the dearth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which
he attributed to the problem of power.

He assured the group of the government’s support, adding
that power remained the key for the revitalisation of SMEs
and establishment of industries in the state.
He also commended the leader of the delegation,
Chukwuyere for bringing his partners to develop the state.

This isn't Ogun where we'll clap because Germans are becoming billionaires with out natural resources. This is Imo. We're the most educated state in the country and there are indigenous oil companies owned by Imolites that need and want that contract and will keep their revenues closer to home.

Critical thinking. It's very obvious that this thread struggles to populate it's self with development news which happens with ease in the Anambra thread. I say this as someone that wants to contribute because can't find anything.

I find it strange that you speak of 'Igbo people' in third person.
I'm not showing any 'bias' I researched the company because I was excited about the project and when I saw they had only existed for 1 year I looked further and saw the 'owner' has been accused and punished on fraud and incompetence from his previous employer this very year. I also saw that he was no more than a sales man.

Former Niger Delta militants in the oil producing
areas of Ohaji Egbema and Oguta Council Areas of
Imo State have vowed to resist any attempt to stop
them from getting their “rights” from all federal and
state establishments, even if it means shedding their
blood to realize it.


Arising from a meeting of stakeholders yesterday in
Owerri, which was attended by over 200 youth leaders
across the oil producing areas, the convener and
National leader, Orashi Camp of ex-agitators /BOT,
Prince Emeka Igwe, disclosed that all the youth
leaders have agreed that, henceforth, they would form
a common front in demanding their “rights”.


“We have resolved to work together to get all our
rights from every federal and state government
agencies like NDDC, ISOPADEC,” they said, adding
that before now they had agitated for these rights in
disunited front.


This was just as they blamed politicians for the
disharmony among them, saying that any politician
who would instigate problems among the youths for
selfish purposes would be seen as an enemy of the
youths in the zone.


The meeting – attended by President, Imo Youth
Council, Comrade Jeff Nwaoha, NDYM Chairman,
Comrade Chigozie Ohiri, ISOPADEC Chairman,Oguta,

others – resolved that there was no need to fight each

The youths, who honoured him with an award as

Moreover, the issue is not about the gas investment sited at Egbema, afterall I posted an article on that in Rare diamonds thread. I want you to take a look again at my criticism and tell me if they are all lies.
1) What happened to the money accruing from the sale of Ada palm to Rochas company?
2) Are more than 70% percent of Rochas civil constructions not China projects? How many can he boast of that are durable. Compare Chime's road construction and that of Rochas and tell me the difference.
3) Are blocks not used to build bridges? If you are in doubt, take a trip to the Amakohia/Egbeada link flyover and tell me what you see. What even changed my countenance towards Rochas was the flood devastating construction the slowpoke is currently erecting at the Umuaka/Okwudor section of the Njaba bridge. How can Rochas play fiddle with such important bridge linking Orlu. The local firm that was awarded that contract is as quack as Rochas himself. The quack contractor rather than erect a conventional bridge decided to construct a link road across the bridge. He completely diverted the flow of the river by filling heaps of sand in between the banks for a makeshift road. How on earth can Rochas joke with such project, knowing fully well, that section of my community is usually prone to erosion and landslides. What happened to giving the contract to Julius Berger or RCC.

I must commend you for doing a good PR job for Rochas. Yet, let us try as much as possible to point out the shortcomings of Owelle's administration.
Chief among the things that disgusts me, are the inferior projects littered everywhere. Telling Rochas to change the status quo, is like advising a Leopard to change from its spots.

The schools? The hospitals? The estates? The parks? The worship centre? The conference centre?

The only project which can be used against Okorocha are the trunk "c" roads which are all the same across the country with Rivers under Amaechi being the only exception.

It is right to criticise Okorocha who of course has many short comings but it is best we do it in uthmost good faith. We all want the good management of our resources and need him accountable but lets not lie or use blackmail to misrepresent fact because we belong to different divides or because of jealousy.

Oga, I am sure you have never been to Enugu. No governor in S/East compares with Chime in road construction. He had purposeful leadership and sincerity of purpose. Apart from Sam Mbakwe, Imo hasn't gotten such a leader for now

Enugu major roads have walkways but with open drainage after the walkways. Go back and check. Some roads in Owerri have drainage before the walkways making the drainages more noticeable than the walkways. Example is Okigwe road which Okorocha has covered some parts.

Enugu had 8 years of good attention in oil boom under Chime but Imo State has had 4 years under Okorocha who actually went beyond road construction in Owerri and did over 350 schools across the State.

I know you are wondering what could be the tragedy of
being Igbo. I like you to drop all sentiments and journey
with me into the unfortunate world of the Igbo politician in
Nigeria. When you take a good look at the other Geo-
Political zones in Nigeria, you would find out that they all
have living political pillars that their tribes or zones can rely
on to defend and project their interests on national level
either for selfish or collective interests .

In the North you
have strong political figures like Gowon, Buhari, Yusuf
Maitama Sule, Ibrahim Babangida a.k.a IBB, Lawal Kaita,
Atiku Abubakar, Abdusalami Abubakar, Adamu Ciroma, T.Y
Danjuma, Lamido Sanusi, Babangida Aliyu etc. In the South
West you have the likes of Wole Soyinka, Olusegun
Obasanjo, Bola Tinubu, Governor Fashola etc. In the South
South there are the likes of Edwin Clark, Tam David-West,
Asari Dokubo (sad as it is) etc.


But just turn to the South
East, nobody! What you find is a zone divided against itself,
a desert of crusaders. A race too afraid to be led. A people
without a collective vision.


The question is how did the Northerners get to where they
are? They grabbed power and made good use it by
empowering their brothers. People from the South West
grabbed the power of education and swiftly rose up the
ladder. The Igbos have been backwards politically because
they are not united, they don’t have respect for a united
front and a mouth piece rather they believe money can buy
you whatever you want. They forget that one policy from
Aso Rock can run the whole Easterners out of business.


Permutation That Might Favour Okorocha
We all know that Governor Okorocha will not emerge as
APC’s presidential candidate but he has a huge chance to
be a running mate. If the APC picks General Buhari as its
presidential candidate since its been zoned to the north and
wants to respect Olusegun Obasanjo’s warning not to toy
with a Muslim-Muslim ticket then something good might
fall on Okorocha’s laps. How you may want to ask. If they
go for a Muslim-Christian ticket that means Governor
Fashola is out of the picture. Now Buhari is strong in the
north and with Tinubu’s South West machinery he will be
fine in the South West. Jonathan on the other hand is very
strong in the South East and South South. The battle for APC
if they want to be the occupants of Aso Rock in 2015 is in
South South and South East.

To neutralize Jonathan’s grip
on those political zones it will be wise to pick a Christian
Vice Presidential candidate from either South South or
South East.
The options in the South South are Governors Rotimi
Amaechi and Adams Oshiomhole, pick one and you are cool
and if you don’t , they will deliver at least two states from
the South South . The question here is, why would South
South people vote out their own who is already number one
for another who might be number two? … That is the
decider.


In the South East, Governor Rochas Okorocha is the
major force and with his charming charisma and oratory
power he will make an impact in the South East. He also
has northern friends having grown up there.
But the problem Governor Rochas Okorocha is going to face
come 2015 is his own people! The Igbos most times prefer
to empower a stranger to joining hands to create the new
face of the Igbo race.


Since Ojukwu died, Igbos have not
been able to present a new strong voice for the tribe. Whose
opinion counts in the South East today? Who will speak now
and Nigerians will feel the echo of the Igbos? What we have
are impotent figures who are busy trying to kiss the ass of
whoever is in Aso Rock and wealthy men who have
neglected their home.
Unlike the northerners who can unite and vote in their own,
the Igbos would rather see a brother in Jonathan and since
politics is a game of numbers, they will strengthen his grip
on the foundation of Aso Rock and shatter the dream of an

Widow of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu,
Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu yesterday in Owerri, the
Imo State capital expressed shock that a monument
being erected by the leader of the Movement for the
Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, to immortalise
the name of her husband was brought down by
unknown persons. Yet-to-be identified persons had
last Saturday while the MASSOB leader was away to
Oraifite, Anambra State to attend a burial ceremony
sneaked into his (Chief Ralph Uwazuruike) street to
reduce the Ojukwu memorial library that had reached
roofing level to rubble.

Bianca, who came on a visit with Governor Peter Obi
of Anambra State, former Information minister,
Professor Dora Akunyili and Chairman of South-East
traditional rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya said it was
unfortunate that some people could conspire to
destroy what was set to immortalise the name of her
husband. She said Ndigbo should see her late
husband as a rallying point and so Ndigbo should
protect anything kept to retain his name. Bianca
advised those who carried out the demolition to desist
from the act, saying those who carried out the act
were not working for the interest of Ndigbo.

Also, Governor Obi said he was as shocked as Bianca
when he heard about the demolition of the memorial
library. Obi, who said he did not believe the story said
he decided to come to Owerri to see things for
himself, saying it was unfortunate that some people
destroyed a structure erected to immortalise the name
of the late Ikemba. The governor said the late Ojukwu
represented the strength and symbol of the Igbo,
saying anybody doing anything to immortalise his
name should be encouraged. Obi promised that he
would support Uwazuruike to ensure that the
demolished library is re-built again.

Speaking, the MASSOB leader said the demolition was
the handiwork of anti-Igbo elements. When asked if
he knew those behind the pulling down of the
building, Uwazuruike said he would not like to
mention names, but added that the perpetrators know
themselves. Uwazuruike promised that the library
project billed to be commissioned next month would
continue, vowing that nothing would make him not to
complete it.

A chieftain of All Progressive Congress, Chief Ejikeme Ogbuagu has raised the alarm over fresh plot by the presidency to unseat the Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha through the forthcoming Supreme Court ruling on the governorship election.

He equally alleged that the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, who is spearheading the plot, had already drafted some prominent citizens from the state into the plot. “Already, several individuals have been smuggled into Imo State to cause confusion ahead of the Supreme Court judgment on October 31.

According to him: “The recent cancellation of Okorocha’s reception in the commercial city of Aba by Abia State governor, Theodore Orji, was instigated by the presidency with a view to inciting crisis to justify the plans to demonise Okorocha”.

Ogbuagu also disclosed that the presidential aide has equally enlisted the support of National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh to use the party to achieve their aim.

He informed that members of the state House of Assembly are also being pressured to move against the state governor. “It should also be noted that the same Gulak hosted PDP members of the House of Assembly months ago in Abuja in a failed attempt to impeach Okorocha”, he said

With the way things are going in Imo now okorocha is going to have more people opposing his ambitions from the state rather than from outside

I have already told you that all the PDP legislators
that came from Rivers State stood against the
president and supported Tambuwal. The problem
started since then.


The only president that can be compared to Goodlcuk
in Nigeria is Shagari. He is peaceful, he has human
feelings and he doesn’t want to hurt an ant. Amaechi
and Adams Oshiomhole from the South-South have
projected that if Goodluck is the president for the
next four years, they will become irrelevant.

They will be out of power for four years. Oshhiolome will
be out of power for two years plus. Oshiomhole is
my brother, but when it comes to standing with the
president, friendship has got nothing to do. If
oshiomhole is going for the presidency today, I will
stake my life for him. But if he wants to go and join
people because of political agenda or survival, we
should jettison sacrifice and die for the South-South.
So if Goodluck does not come back, anyone of them
will aspire for the position of Senate President or the
Speaker.

Oshimhole is level headed than this small
boy, Amaechi. He is not doing his own like a
matured person, same as Rochas Okorocha. If
Goodluck can complete eight years, they believe there
is the likelihood that the presidency will go up to the
north, that is if he wins the second term which I
know he will.


The political interest of our people is at stake. They
will chase Rochas Okorocha away. Rochas is a goner
and he knows it and he will go. That is why some of
us are going to be aggressive with Goodluck. There is
no begging, there’s no retreat, no surrender. We are
not taking any Prisoner of War. It is going to be total
vanquish, no Prisoner of War. This one is do or die.
We are fighting for our soul and our survival now.


They have aligned with Tinubu and we are going to
see how it goes if Goodluck will contest. Let’s see
how you will pass Goodluck and sit in Aso Rock. It is
not about weapons to fight. Everything will be
glaring and we will see it clearly.

We heard Amacehi
has been buying guns for the people. It is human
beings that will shoot those guns. When the time
comes we will see. Oshimhole is very mild. He opens
ways for reconciliation, but Amaechi is not allowing
reconciliation. He has reached the point of no
return.

If you used this same zeal to fight Jonathan for doing worse on Port Harcourt-Owerri Road or Onitsha- Arondizuogu-Okigwe Road, I would have taken you for a sincere person. Okorocha still has 4 years to complete your village Roads but we all sincerely knew Jonathan could never stay past 2015.

I keep wondering the prerogative in wasting millions of nairas renovating Concorde hotel, when a wonderful initiative such as Prince and Princess hotel is left to rot away. If not selfishness and greed what stops Rochas from partnering with Sheraton, just like Akpabio. Must Rochas interest come first before that of Ndi Imo.
Rochas should complete his abandoned projects. That was what he was voted for. His poser boy stunts with Mbakwe's legacies should seize.
