Guess 489 is available for 189 only.

Not sure I get you, but from what I understand, for. State nom. (SA to be precise) if your occupation slot is filled, you go the 489 route depending on your total points.. So its not available for 189 only.

Someone correct me if am wrong.

Thank you. I just submitted my application to Vetassess last week. And I will have to wait for my + assessment. My nominated occupation in SA currently reads 'special conditions apply' or in other words it's filled up . which means I'll have to go the 489 route rather than the 190

Why did u assess for a qualification that reads 'special conditions apply'? Did you study in SA or worked/ currently working in SA? Did you click on 'special conditions apply' link to see the conditions spelt out for the nominated occupation, before heading to VETASSESS? Or is there any other state sponsoring your nominated occupation? Do u qualify for 189?

There is no relationship between 189,190 and 489. They are independent of one another. 489 is used by the govt. to lure people who cant meet up with the requirements for 189 or 190 to regional Australia, so as to develop the regions; and of course its a temporary visa, which u can switch to perm. when there in due time.

How can someone qualify/apply for 489 if his/her Occupation slot is filled or not available for 190 or 189?.

States have csol and regional list. Check the regional list to see if your nominated occupation is on it. From there you proceed same way as 190, but filling 489 for your assessment and in EOI. You get 10points for 489 and 5 for 190. So you still need to have your occupation on a list: SOL, CSOL, or Regional.

Good Day every one.
I just took a work from the Canadian thread to here after 3 refusals for student TRV.
I have already started the Australia TAFE admission process in June before I realized that I needed IELTS so I requested for them to defer my admission for January to enable me write the exam.

But I got a mail from them saying all applications from Nigeria has been suspended so I am kind of confused where to start again.
I am currently reading up the thread but any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks for the response.

My nominated occupation was on medium availability as at the time I sent my docs to VETASSESS. I just checked is 3 days back it was now on 'special conditions apply' the only other state that has that occupation is ACT. But they have not updated their site (it will be updated later this month)

I checked out the special conditions for SA,and it points to being eligible for a 489 (by the way my point is 65 without state sponsorship)

Also if anyone can give me a quick response on things like. Advantages and disadavnages to SVP and Non-SVP.
Prospects of getting employed for graduation from a TAFE program. And ease of getting a PR.

I am reading the thread but also anyone who can give me a quick heads up would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This was sent two months ago, i really don't understand if it means that they don't process TAFE for Nigeria anymore or
SVP. I really dont under this Australia terms.
I sent them an email but they are yet to respond to me since yesterday

My occupation is only listed in 190. Are you implying that I can apply for 489 even if my occupation is not listed in 189? And moreso can ones children go to public school without paying tuition?

Thank you, i am beginning to get a hang of it, i initially thought it meant that Australia has stopped processing SVP.
I now understand it unique to schools.

It's not unique to schools, but the whole schools under NSW, TAFE NSW are not processing SVP from Nigeria till further notice. same thing happened to me about two months ago, when i apllied and i was given the offer for a diploma not under SVP and i applied for Advanced diploma under SVP. So, we have to lot for schools elsewhere but not TAFE NSW.

Which schools did you finally apply to? or are you already in Australia?

Hello guys,

Erictack203, i sight you. I'm interested in helping my younger sis secure admission in Australia for a course that'll help her obtain PR later. At the same time, i do not want to break the bank for this as i need money to settle myself. Nursing would have been a better choice but for the high tuition and the other requirements. I'm now looking to Masters in Health Science or Public Health, so as to qualify for Occupational Health / Environmental Health officer.

I see AUD 22,400 for University of Western Sydney. Based on your experience, can you advise on a better (cheaper) choice?

In other to apply to TAFE schools in NSW, u have to apply tru TAFE NSW which is the body. schools like granville college, Ultimo Colleg and some others colleges are under TAFE NSW and one apply and pick the specific college that you want and campus. I applied to Gordon Institute of TAFE, TasTAFE, CIT and SkillTech. Nope still contemplating on the offers. Hoping to hear from SkillTech as i have not heard from them the outcome of my application.

Check this it maybe helpful, Chisholm Institute of Technology with their main campus in dandenong a surburb of Melbourne (33kms from Melbourne), they are flexible with international students & their fees is on the lower side, a SVP institution but they don't accept application directly except through an agent.

Thanks a lot Erictack and Alaoeri for your helpful feedback.
Alaoeri, i saw that you you can apply directly on their website. However, i need to point out that she will get only 10 points for education then for a Diploma course

NNBB2012, pingu2k5, thanks for your response to my previous post. Pls house , I have two questions because this OZ I must enter. 1. If I have a degree in a different field of study and a post graduate diploma in another field of study will I be awarded 15 points for a pgd nominated occupation on visa (subclass) 190. That is, you have bsc in economics and a pgd in maybe social work , and your nominated occupation is social worker, can one apply with just pgd and still be given I5 points for qualification. 2. If nominated , to satisfy the 2yrs working requirement, must you work in OZ only on the nominated skill or u can choose to work outside your nominated occupation if you have the qualifications . Kind regarrds.
