We want the new Ooni to be a peace loving person. Who will not reverse the fortune of Modakeke and Ile-Ife by another fifty years. That is exactly what Olubuse One and two did in their reign. It is a blood thirsty reign where thousands of life were lost and properties that worth billions were destroyed. So many productive farm have being abandoned. Both town were ostraczised with the construction of Lagos Benin Ore road, and Ilesha Akure express way. All the business that should pass through the land have being diverted away. We Ifes should allow MODAKEKE to be, it is like the American Indian telling them to go back to Europe, it is not possible again. Oba Aderemi for fifty years grows the towns brought OAU to the community. He lay the foundation of MODAKEKE High School. He even married from MODAKEKE a wise king like Solomon who married from all neighboring kingdom. You cant go and fight your inlaw.
This is very insightful. the next Ooni should be a peace loving, bridge builder and non partisan monarch. To me Ife was more or less stagnated in the last four - five decades. It is a case of few making huge sum of money as Ife indigenes but not changing the landscape and upgrading the town.
There were lots of fights here and there - with Modakeke, with Oyo, Omishore/Aregbesola etc

Ngozi iweala statement accuse obasanjo of disappearing with fund for lagos to kano rail .

Specifically, the President was seeking clarification on alleged diversion of a substantial part of a $1.005bn loan obtained from the Chinese Exim Bank for the construction of a standard gauge rail line, linking Lagos to Kano. - See more at: http://www.punchng.com/news/600m-chinese-rail-loan-not-diverted-okonjo-iweala

It is not the culture of the Yoruba to aspire to the throne and as such it is unfortunate that some persons have already been on air to assign, claim and indicate interest in being the next Ooni of Ife. All this even before any formal announcements were made and proper rites observed. Despite this, the ruling houses of Ife remain united as the children of Oduduwa.

There are four ruling houses in Ile-Ife and the next Ooni will emerge from the Giesi ruling house. The last Ooni from the Giesi ruling house was Ooni Derin Ologbenla (1880-1894)

1894-1910 Ooni Adelekan Olubuse I (Ogboru)
1910-1930 Ooni Ademuluyi Ajagu (Lafogido)
1930-1980 Ooni Adesoji Aderemi (Oshikola)
1980-2015 Ooni Okunade Sijuwade (Ogboru)

The members of Giesi Ruling house met on Saturday 15th August at Akodi Agbedegbede (family house) in Ile-Ife. The meeting was well attended by hundreds of princes, princesses and elders of the royal lineage. The meeting, called only after the formal announcements by the Ife chiefs, was in respect to the laws and tradition of the royal families. Tributes were paid to the long and happy reign of Oba Alayeluwa Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II and prayers were said for the repose of his soul with his fore fathers.

At this meeting, the elders of Giesi ruling house announced and affirmed that the time is now for the process of filling the gap created in the Kingship of Ile-Ife to commence.

The legal process and content of the law that guides the selection of the Ooni was publicly presented to all the princes and princesses present.

First it was established that Giesi ruling house is set and in-turn to produce the next Ooni of Ile-Ife. Secondly, it was communicated as stated in the law, that 14 days from when the vacancy occurred, the ruling house is obliged to make a presentation of candidate(s) to the local government. Thereafter it was communicated that the basis of the selection will be from male children who are offspring of both male and female children of Giesi ruling house.

An invitation was given to all interested princes of Giesi ruling house to obtain and complete the prescribed form, return the form to the family within the next couple of days after which they will be screened. Elders then screen and select as many as they feel comfortable with. Post screening, the names will be submitted to the Kingmakers within a period of 14 days from the vacancy of the stool. The Kingmakers make consultations with the oracle before forwarding their approved list to the local government. The emergence of the Ooni will depend on how quickly the oracle selects the appropriate occupier to be of the throne of Ife.

This is the correct process and procedure and nobody is precluded.

One of the prominent persons to look out for in this race is the great grand son of Ooni Derin Ologbenla, Oba Bankole Adewale Ojutalayo, the Laroka of Wankin, who over the last 5 years has worked judiciously in Ile-Ife to maintain peace, develop townships and was instrumental in the installation of a number of Obas within the Ife kingdom. Oba Bankole Adewale Ojutalayo was prominent in the council of Sookos contributing to the progress and development of that council.

Of all the ruling houses Oshinkola has produced only three kings, all of great repute as any Ife indegenes and any true yoruba son/daughter knows , there is no good reason we can not produce the next Ooni whom we believe would restore the dignity of the stool and be a good leader to the yoruba race as a whole. Prince Adedamola takes after his grandfather , a gentle leader from youth, highly intelligent and well versed in history and tradition.

While many immediate family members of the Oshinkola house hoped that Omoba Adedotun Layade would be king one day, It didn't work out as so; who are we to question our maker , he does as he wills. We feel it is right to honour him by ensuring that an adequate individual seats on the throne.

Prince Adedamola is that person, don't think Bros Dele Momodu is just galivanting for nothing, he is a true Ife son, born and bread within the reach of the palace, he is a stake holder in the prosperity of Ife.

May the oracle speak true; Whomever faith selects may our forefathers strengthen him to lead us into prosperity.

Layade is otutu bi osun, from Lafogido not oshinkola. Same house and compound as Ademiluyi. Dele momodu is AGIP. Lol
Aderemi is also not the only ruling house in Oshinkola, iremo. He is also not the only ruling house in Akui. In Akui, You still have his elder brother Adewuyi and younger brother Adeyemo.
Like I mentioned earlier, any ruling house apart from Ogboru is eligible to contest for the throne.

I never said we are same house, but Prince Dotun(Dotlay) Layade and his brothers were very close to the Aderemi , Adewuyi and Gbadebo family.

Going back 15 years he made it known he wanted to be kind it was his family turn by rotation and he lived that life, exuded the "otobatele" panache till the calous individuals robbed the Yoruba race of a deserving king.

If he was alive he'd have the full support of the akui/ oshinkola royal house .

You are going into detail I already know, you can't be showing me the way to my father's house I'm not a bastard!

And when you say Gbadebo, which family are you actually referring to? Funny enough, as close as I am to members of family houses in Oshinkola, Ogboru and Lafogido in lagos, ife and diaspora. I have never heard of that name dotlay, but if you say he was a great man. I believe you.
Also take it easy, no one called you a bastard. In as much as you want your uncle to be the Ooni, It is left for the oracle to decide and it's not by campaigning or by visiting obasanjo and politicians ooo.
My opinion. The likely Ooni elect is gonna be a core traditionalist (ifa or obatala devotee) but then again what do I know grin

Uncle Dammy has worked for Obasanjo at different times if he chooses to visit him so be it.

Aderemi, Adewuyi, Adeyemo etc were all born into the Osundeyi Gbadebo family; Aderemi was Adesoji middle , same for baba Adewuyi etc. As you know between the 64 kids of Adesoji, baba isale has his over 30 brood, the Adeyemo a good number too . Between them over 110 kids, some over 600 grand children , as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, makes for a massive family.
