I understand you but if I were you, I'd let sleeping dogs lie since she's not his daughter or spouse. Think about it well sha. If you decide to go ahead and mention it, your brother will need supernatural ties to Nigeria. Lol best of luck either way

While I initially considered this strategy, I realized that it could backfire significantly if the VO finds out that the sponsor is sponsoring my sister but didn't state it. I read on one of the CIC documents that the sponsor should state how many dependents he/she has, in which case it would reduce ambiguity to state the financial commitment to each dependent.

good morning everyone

i'ld like to share my experience with you guys from MMA to Toronto. if you travailing on a student visa pls make sure ur offer letter is in ur hand luggage and your original WEAC or Neco result as print out copies were not allowed and most students traveling were delayed boarding their flights.

my experience at immigrations Toronto

i'ld advice while on queue to see an immigration officer just look out for immigration officer with less wahala which was what i did to avoid mad scrutiny

then make sure u pay at least half ur tuition cos they demanded for our tuition receipt as a prof we were coming to study a Ghanian guy was almost denied entry cos he didnt pay fees bur he was able to prove the school asked to pay on arrival how ever an Arab girl was denied entry as she couldn't prove shes coming to study. don't know if they allowed her later bur she was told to stand at the waiting room

then make sure u have ur account statement to show prove of funds and also show them ur bank cards to show you have access to the accounts.

surprisingly the immigration officer i went to asked me the length of my program which is a year he smiled and said i know you've got your eyes on PR i smiled and said well.. True he briefed me how to go about it and how to extend my visa if i wish to bur i should do it legit.

Thanks everyone for your support if you need any help am willing to assist as long as it within my capacity. And to all TRV hopefuls don't worry too much your approval mail is here keep the hope and faith alive we serve a living God.

Whr exactly is dt and close is it to d sch? How much is it?

I think it is very close to the university. The prices I have seen range from $38 or so, but for shared rooms if I'm not wrong. Check out the website from the previous response I gave.

You can also check YMCA and Ottawa Backpacker's Inn or so for other short term places.

Thanks for the info Kenny and Taike.

If I'm to say why you weren't asked, I'll say it's cos you're a PhD student cos both of your arrived at the same Toronto airport yesterday.... So the issue of many students still holds for Taike.

PhD students na visa consulates' pikins in all the 1st world countries cos they value research more than anything else. They are always treated specially...

***I'm yet to see any PhD student that applied for visa in any country's visa consulate that was denied visa... ***

Welcome to Maple land. May God bless all your hustles.

[b]Today marks a year of my entry into Maple land, I will go to midday mass today and thank God for His blessings and favours so far, while still asking Him for the best in all my life endeavours...

That's fantastic. 1 year. Congrats.

The sponsor dsnt need to state it tho. Sometimes giving to much info can be ones undoing. As long as there's enough funds in the account for both siblings just keep it simple.

Correct me if I am wrong. if your sisters program is 1-year, I think that by effectively paying all tuition and living expenses for your sister in full, i really do not see her as a dependant of your brother anymore since all financial obligations have been met for the entire program + her personal savings as well.

Gud pm all. I am posting this on behalf of my boss in office. He is 42yrs old and married(no kids yet). He has Masters in Elect / Elect Engr frm UK in 2009 with about two publications. He got admission for PGD in Canada for Automation Engr which is closely related to his first nd second degree and also work schedule in office. He was given 2yrs postgraduate work permit in UK after masters in 2009 and he spent one year of the permit before returning to Nigeria to pick his present job. His sponsors now are his inlaw and younger uncle.
What are his chances for visa approval?
Should he apply without stating he has Masters already?

Do VOs accept black nd white colour printed SOA? my friend's sponsor SOA (two page SOA) is printed in black and white colour and only the first page was stamped. The bank is first bank.
Please can he use the SOA like that for online route?

You havent gotten a reply because i'm sure majority of readers shook their head when they read the pots.
We always like to be optimistic and i believe it was difficult for them to express that with your boss situation.

1) He has a masters, a PGD is OFF the mark.....
2) He is 42 and he is still trying to tender a sponsor...(i dont know how that sounds , but not very good to my hearing)
3) At 42 NO KIDS.....thats not fresh enough....

But his chances can well be increased with a PHD admission.
Saving a PHD admission i wont support he submits his application.

In other news, our mighty Stanbic's CAD rate has gone from N164 to N170. Other banks must have gone way higher by now.
If you're just about to pay tuition, accept my condolences.

Thanks guys/gals for the suggestions.

@teesboy @TheBae @tnuola So are you guys suggesting the sponsor should not state his number of dependents? Or should he state he has one dependent but not go into any details about the dependent? @Team12 and @hayqinsbFX I also want to hear your thoughts on this smiley. The question is: would the sponsor be opening a potential can of worms if he discusses in his letter his sponsorship of the other dependent (my sister). Fyi, there is enough money in the account for both.

@teesboy: my sister's program is two years so the sponsor is still responsible for her second year (her savings should cover about half the second year's costs though).

HI I am just seeing this. I dunno if its late but here goes.
For renewal of passport in NIgeria, I only went with the old passport and money.
Then for visa extension (within Canada), its the study permit you extend 1st. I had to submit
-Proof of medicals that i did in Nigeria
- Statement of account (I used my canadian account since i had all my money there)
- Letter of enrollment from my school
- Passport data page and copies of all visas and study permit
- Passport photograph.
- Cost of study permit extension $150

I applied June 16th and app was approved yesterday.
Once i get the study permit document, I will apply for a new TRV since the old one has expired too.
Apologies for the late reply

sexysammy0906:

Hey chichi pls what were the document you included for your passport renewal in Nigeria and how much did it cost?? And what were the document that was required for the visa extension. Thanks
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 6:27pm On Aug 19, 2015
@omonjoe
Since the SOA is only two pages, your friend should just get both pages stamped. But if the stamped first page is the summary page, then what your friend currently has should be ok imo.

With the PGD admission, your boss is likely to be denied TRV given that he/she is 42 and already has a masters degree in a similar area (even if he doesn't state the masters, his UK student visa would give him away). A PhD admission is more credible in his case. Also the fact that he is 42 and without enough funds to self-sponsor or co-sponsor himself may be seen as a red flag to the VO. The VO might ding his application for "Purpose of Visit", "Length of Proposed Stay", and "Personal Assets & Financial Status". @omonjoe Your boss should just use Express Entry.

I think it might be a bit risky to use only the sponsor's business SOA if the average end-of-month balance (over the last six months) is less than twice your school annual expenses. Imho, the VO knows that since it is a business account there is likely to be a lot of unexpected expenses; as a result, for such account to be used as the sole statement, it would be beneficial if the ending balance were about twice your school fees. This is not to say that you can't get the TRV with that SOA, my suggestion is based on the premise of playing it safe and reducing as much risk as possible.

I would recommend adding the sponsor's personal account as well, or getting a co-sponsor.
yeah..i think it's better to play safe because i can't afford not getting this on first trial. Would definitely get a co-sponsor.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by obiscolly(m): 7:00pm On Aug 19, 2015
TheBae:
You don't have a problem because the VO will look out for the steady inflow and outflow so that will work in your favour. He can use his business account as long as he submits proof of ownership showing that he is the sole proprietor of the company. That's what I did but I had a co-sponsor so as @thesoj said, a co-sponsor will do you good and keep you on the safer side
Thank you.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by Omonjoe(m): 7:11pm On Aug 19, 2015
@thesoj, thanks for d reply.
for d SOA, d stamped page is the summary page and his sponsor is a kind of busy man, so, making out time for another SOA may take a long time
For my boss, he has money to co-sponsor himself he was of the thought that VOs frown against self sponsor. His UK stamped passport has expired and he obtained a new one with only a UK visiting visa stamped on it buh he has publications with his masters details if d VO shld do a background check on him. I will advice him accordingly sha though he has great intention for d automation prog so he can still be relevant as HOD of Automation unit grin...PHD is a no way for him as he has 2:2 in his B.Eng and did poorly in his masters

42 with no kids is not a problem. Having children is a personal decision. I do not see why the VO will have a problem with that. Going for a pgd will of course ring bells. He might have to give reasons why he is being sponsored at his age though (I think)

Yep, also got admission to Manitoba. TRV still processing. It is well.

As for your question, this was how I filled mine (with respect to my tuition fee):

Tuition: 8900 CAD (for 1 year)
Room/ Board/ Other fees: 10, 000 CAD
Amount available: 30, 000 CAD

Amount in my sponsor's Account balance: $34, 000 US

Note the amount I stated as available isn't the entire amount in my Sponsor's account. ..even though the sponsor is my dad.
