Did you read the article at all? people please don't try it. You won't survive it. Besides she spends time at her bfs and mums.

Abi, I wonder too oooo. Even with this "Now she spends her days shuttling between her university in Tübingen, her boyfriend’s flat in Cologne, and her mother’s house in Stuttgart. Every week she clocks up between 750 and 1,250 miles on the plush high-speed ICE trains that connect Germany’s major cities. All she carries with her is a simple travel bag with a change of clothes, a tablet computer and a washbag. The rest of her belongings are stored in boxes at her mother’s house. She washes in the train’s on-board loos". This is going to be cumbersome for any International student. Me wey my mama dey Ekiti, I go shutle come Ekiti ni? grin grin or if the girlfriend decided to throw me out because she is jealous or something may be at the middle of the night, where I go come go? car park? Hence, it is not advisable for International students #IMO

Is Germany nt gettin it all wrong in accepting intl students in droves?....Bros WE ARE ALL MIGRANTS....No one would love to leave his/motherland just for leavin sake, circumstances beyond their control is the driving force...

I dont get it when Migrants share such sentiments. The only set of pple who to me has the guts to share such re pple who re pure Germans nt even Germans of foreign descent.

Also the other fella talkin abt USA ..Australia and co...The only thing going for those countries is that they re far from the Migrant countries...

Syrians were okay until the uprising and the proxy war going on there (West :America and Europe supporting the rebels vs East Russia n Iran supporting Assad)..When u destabilise a country by virtue of proxy war u shld also be responsible for the humanitarian crises...its quite easy today for pple from africa( Somali, Eriteria, Sudan, Ghana and Nigeria: Countries facing extreme case of structural violence due to the corruption of the elites)to cross because libya is now a failed state no control at all because the west could nt stand Gadaffi and with their Nato allies went all out for him today what do we ve ..a failed state....

When u talk to this migrant u will get a different view of everything...it could be you..and dont be quick to day we know the arabs bla bla and share islamophobic views ....yes they re muslim extremist but nt all re extremists..just same way nt all Nigerians do drugs and Advance free fraud...Stop the stereotype...

LIVE AND LETS LIVE.

PEACE

LIVE AND LETS LIVE! How i wish everyone can have this ideology instead the opposite is always the case.

Accepting international student is different from accepting asylum seekers. International students contribute enormously to the economy while the later receive from the economy. Do you know it is been debated if they should stop giving money and giving out stamps instead.

It's a good thing to accept migrants into your country and show love to them also. But from another perspective, are the migrants also ready to integrate fully ? That is the questions most Germans ask. They already know what Islamic people are capable of doing, Turkey comes to mind.

Mind you, Germany is a christian Country and not multi-religious like Nigeria. Some people are of the view that accepting large amount of People from another religious background different from the host country may in future do more harm than good. This argument can be debated upon without reaching a conclusion, then France comes to mind.

I read the number this year will rise up to 800,000 and you can imagine how enormous that is. There are lots of question begging for answers.
How do they intend to integrate them?
Will they return back to their country, when the war is over? Knowing too well how conservative most Germans are.
Personally I feel Germany is doing okay but like we all know, too much of every thing is bad.

Please don't crucify me oh, I have Muslim friends in Nigeria, who are like brothers to me and also have a very nice Syrian friend here in Germany, unfortunately my German Syrian friend has a bitter opinion against the west. I can't blame him because he came here as an immigrant thanks to USA and co.
I really wish this was happening to USA then it would have been an icing on the cake

I was not expecting anybody to really do what the lady did. I only shared the article for information purpose only. Is there anyone that would go for accommodation as high as 340Euro (cost of train ticket) plus the discomfort on the train. No Nigerian I know of would ever do this.

I read the article and understood it before posting

Not true. Tell them u have a national visa. That's where u got it wrong. When they asked what u had, what they wanted to hear was jjc language so they can take money from u. That's airlines for u. They charge u for cancellation when u get to Germany and u don't need the return ticket anymore. Just tell them u are traveling with a national visa and that's it. The airline has nothing to do with where u are going. And they are lying to u. No immigration officer in his right mind would ask for a return ticket if u have a national visa.

I wasn't asked for it. Others that have interviewed weren't asked for it. You dont need it.

At last...Thank God.
I finally got the visa approval mail today, I had my interview on 23rd July, it took about one month. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has kept this thread alive, providing every necessary info and tips- you guys are awesome. The names are many 'Motherly' Zeeblamj, Eke40seven, Walesby, and you.

My experience
Last week Thursday i called the alien office in my City (after waiting for exactly one month), the man i spoke with told me they were still waiting for the german embassy to forward my Deutsche bank confirmation. I was shocked because i forwarded my DB confirmation 1 week after my interview. I asked him for his email, he gave me and i forwarded the document to him but he replied that he would still wait for the embassy to forward it to them before approving the visa.
When i received his response, i quickly sent a subtle reminder mail to the embassy, its content was like "I am writing because i did not receive any confirmation of receipt from the embassy when i sent my Deutsche Bank account credit confirmation last month. Kindly find the confirmation attached should it be that my earlier mail was not received".

My experience reveals that the embassy may delay visa approvals by failing to send the documents early enough as in my case.
May God hasten the approval of other visa hopefuls.

Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by daimlerbenz: 7:30pm On Aug 24, 2015
1. Please, introduce yourself, course, school and city. (if applicable)

Dele, Physics, University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart.

2. How does German educational system differ from the system you were used to?

As far as the east is from the west. One similarity though, they don't tutor you well just like Nigeria. They expect you to have known. (My class had to depend on lectures from MIT, ICTP, Stanford and others to understand many concepts)

3. What academic challenge(s) did you face or are you facing currently and how are/did you tackling/tackle them?

As above, I I didn't have the best of tutelage in Nigeria. I came expecting better but was REALLY disappointed. Good news is, it got me married to my books, the internet (Wikipedia - for layman explanation of basic concepts).

3. What is your (academic) advise to prospective Nigerian student coming over to study?(summarized)

Get ready to come work, work, and more work. Also if you can't survive under pressure (time), pick up that ability as you land in your various airports cause here in my program, every lecturer assumes you are here to do his/her course only.

4. Do your school have a size-able number of international students and what is the state of interaction like with them?

Quite a number of them - Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis. We have cordial relationship. I will sure miss my Pakistani flatmate like crazy when his contract expires. For blacks, not so much and somehow I think Unistuttgart peculiarly doesn't have much blacks students.

5. Did you find it difficult integrating into the society and how were you able to overcome it if you had?

a) Language was quite a barrier.
b) I was scammed (identity theft) in my first few months and was moving from police to lawyer and then to police again. Finally, the case has been settled (from my end I believe).

6. In your opinion, do you think a hard working Nigerian student with a particular result can maintain his/her academic performance in
Germany with the same efforts? A scale will be appreciated, I know time is not the only or the best measure of hard work but For instance, A spends 6 hours of study everyday in Nigeria, GPA=4 ". ". ". ". ". ". ". in Germany GPA=?

Germans no wan know the grade wey you carry come. There is no general way of accessing (IMHO) as different programs have different patterns. In my case, all my exams were ORAL. E no easy. If one can put in 4 hours a day during the semester (which requires plenty hardwork and discipline), yes, you can do well. Also it's important one knows the system and run with it. A lot of us didn't. I know better now.

7. Like in any society, there are distractions or factors that reduces performance, what are the major culprits in Germany for an unenlightened
Nigerian JJC?

The fact that you are cramped up with so much to do within a short time period so much so that you can't even find time to read. You are jumping from one assignment to another lab report which you must submit and then to another discussion class which you have to prepare for.
Outside the academic distraction, beer and the thought pursuing of the daughters of eve is another (this is for guys, babes make una no worry, the laws of supply and demand favour una (except for all those Naija guys wey dia eye dey chook for oyibo)).

8. Most of the male or even females at one time or the other would have fantasized having a German Prince or princess, what are their chances? Do the shy Germans gals take to Nigerians? Can Ahbie, crowns or Amahtrendy, twinkle, Obiwann, Eke, Trendy, swtxt, hollaytan, Kennyoguns, get their prince/princess charming easily?

German prince? If you are emotional, German frau oder herr fit taya you easily. A German guy testified to the reason why they meistens date each other - he said the average German guy doesn't know how to express emotions, so he has problems with relationships with other nationals. Same in his opinions goes for the average German girl. They fit themself well. German girl trip for Naija boy? E hard die for my area. German guy trip for Naija babe? BTW only two Naija babes dey the whole UniStuttgart, how I go come answer that question?

9. List 5 most important items an intending new comer should bring along to Germany.

a) Cold clothes (no be all JJC go meet the next available flohmakton arrival)
b) If you be like me wey like beans bring like 10kg of beans.
c) Remaining baggage allowance should be for garri, garri, and more garri. Abeg add soup stuffs too ooo.
d) bring books only if you must. You have more than enough here.

10. Give 5 most important tip to surviving in Germany, jobs and all.

a) Always be truthful. Be obedient.
b) Ask questions. Never stop asking questions else you will be in big soup.
c) Locate and bond with your people. Only they got your back when gobe happen (if it does). This I learnt from my experience.
d) Hard work. If German tell you say na 1 hour work you wan do, bros, sis you will definitely work that hour die. No play.
5) Flee German Frau!!! This might not be true for everywhere, but here in southern Germany, Fraus dey job ooo.I think the highest % of divorce is here. Na business for them.

11 on a scale of 1-10 rate your city in terms of hustle and the closest best place in terms of jobs to your city

10. Stuttgart is the hub/heart of hustle.

12. Just give your opinion on these claims below by indicating with an Agree (A), Neutral (N) or Disagree (D)

a. Germans are cold - Agree (except when they are high)
b. They hate late coming - Strongly Agree
c. They are racist - It's not cast in stone. Even where it exists (and it sure does), they might not show it in the open.
D. They don't have time for chitchat - Agree (except on weekends). Some can be talkative though
E. They are introverts - No be there fault. They are only 60% of the current population. Among themselves, they can fit shout till tomorrow.
F. They love beer - STRONGLY Agree (Once upon a time, they only drank beer. That period, there was no good water available for drinking due to high pollution of water sources - the Bodensee and the Rhine).

I hope I have done justice.
Peace!!!

In my school, the main thrust is condensed matter physics. A little optics and photonics (we didn't get to pick them as options though). Prospects? If you have good grades, they will usually want you to stay. Also note that na Physics these people dey chop.
