I have met Col Ahmed Ali twice. Once in Kachia, Kaduna in 1999, and the other time was in 2007 in Abuja. This man is Buhari X10. He is a no nonesense man. He does not smile! He made all Kaduna teachers show up to class before 7AM. Just the fear of the name Col Ali, made people behave. He is one effective hell of a man. His appointment makes me truly believe in my leader - PMB wanting the best for Nigeria and the Nigerian Customs where billions of Naira had gone missing and massive corruption festers. What has smile has to do with his appointment or doing his job? I hate too much praise songs in politics, but i like praise songs in Church. Even Abacha smiles more than him as i can see, but he finished us. 2 Likes |

I never knew that smiling means weakness or kwurupshon. But the great and no nonsense men/leaders I read about like Mandela, Jerry Rawlings, Thomas Sankara, Tafawa Balewa, Awolowo, Zik, Gadhaffi, and even young Nzeogwu always smiled. He may have these attributes but the customs job requires someone that is intelligent and understands the system which customs operates in payment of duties, clearing etc.this work is not war, and does not require power. All that is good as it goes, and while it may be a good starting point, lets face facts, the man will not be in that post for ever. Neither will Buhari for that matter. If we are really serious about fighting the scourge of corruption for the LONG TERM, then we need to start to put strong INSTITUTIONS in place as opposed to appointing STRONG MEN to head WEAK INSTITUTIONS. |
