2015 LiveWIRE Apply Now!

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), operator of the NNPC/Shell/Total/Agip Joint Venture (SPDC JV) announces the commencement of the 2015 Shell LiveWIRE Nigeria Programme.

Shell LiveWIRE Nigeria is a youth enterprise development programme supported by The SPDC JV. The programme aims to inspire, encourage and support young people aged 18-35 to start their own businesses through the provision of training and finance for young entrepreneurs.

The objectives for the LiveWIRE programme are to:
Enable youths to establish businesses through the provision of business planning and management guidelines and skills through the ‘Become a Successful Business Owner Course’.
Provide business start-up grants for candidates with the best business plans.
Link successful candidates to third parties like banks, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and allied financial institutions.
Provide a volunteer mentoring programme for successful candidates who decide to
Set-up their own businesses.
Programme content:
• Pre-start up:- Value and Organize Yourself (VOY)
• Bright Ideas workshop
• Business Planning & Management (Become a Successful Business Owner)
• Business Start-up (Access to finance & technology)
• Post start up (Mentoring, Incubation, Market linkages)

Applications eligibility
• Male and female applicants from Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States aged between 18-35
• Must possess a University degree or HND
• Must be resident in state of application

Shell - Another batch of 150 youths from the Niger Delta are to benefit from the 2015 LiveWIRE programme of the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) operated Joint Venture, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to over 6,000 since the launch of the programme in 2003.

LiveWIRE is a flagship youth enterprise development program which provides access to training, business development services and start-up capital.

"LiveWIRE presents a good opportunity for bright young people to bring their ideas to fruition. We are pleased to see the youths transform to employers of labour after going through intensive business training that is reinforced with theoretical and practical sessions", says SPDC's General Manager External Relations, Igo Weli.

The two-week training slated for this month, will be held for the selected youths in Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa states.

Media Relations Manager of Shell, Precious Okolobo, said in a statement that the programme is open to university and polytechnic graduates with innovative business ideas from the three states.

The curriculum includes Business Planning and Management and post start-up Mentoring, incubation and market linkages, while successful candidates will be linked to third parties such as NGOs, banks, and allied financial institutions and provided a volunteer mentoring programme.

What now happens to Non-Niger Delta Graduates? There is a need to add Greater conventions and More measures to this programme inorder to Foster and accommodate Citizens of other States.

With all the PDTF scholarships and special benefits from ND ministry, NDDC, DPR, NNPC and private oil companies, which other citizens from the other regions do not enjoy... The jobless and educated illiterates among them will still come here tomorrow to shout marginalization on top of ordinary political appointments with no direct benefit.
