Was ur mistake talking to that secretary on the phone in the first place. She doesn't know anything happening in the embassy. Her job is to answer calls. U should have told u to connect u to Frau Eisele.. Then she can check ur application status and tell u what's goin on. It's also possible that the person at ur aliens office that received ur file might not be on seat so they told u a story. It's hits serious if ur deadline in 30th... Push from both sides!

please Nairalanders, what is the difference between booking a visa appointment and filing a visa application? I am asking because prior to requesting about how to create a block account here on Nairaland, i mailed the embasssy to tell them about the problems i was encountering in the course of my inquiries. They offered to set up a support letter for prospective Nigerian students who might encounter the same problem. They demanded for a 5digit application number and my passport number. I emailed back to tell them i didnt understand what they meant by application number, however, i sent my passport number. Just now,i got a mail telling me that they cant help me (I DONT NEED THE HELP ANYMORE NOW COS I AM BETTER INFORMED FROM HERE ABOUT THE BLOCK ACCOUNT)because i have not filed for an application. I am a little confused. Does this mean i didnt really book for an appointment? Secondly,my name was not spelt right in the visa appointment e-mail.I hope that isnt a problem too.
Regards you all.

Hello house ... Please who is in /has any information about RWTH Aachen University ,planning to apply for automotive Engineering for summer next year.

How easy is getting their admisssion ? Any info whatsoever, will appreciate. Thanks.

It is a really great school. I applied to the IDEA League geophysics msc of which RWTH is a partner school and I was able to get in. However from what I see on edulix, RWTH is a competitive school across all departments. I used to have a pdf doc on my laptop and in this doc I noticed that RWTH encourage applicants to take the GRE and include the scores even when not requested. So I advise that you contact the program coordinator for the automotive course amd and ask whether you can submit your GRE scores.

Apart from this, you must realize that the TOEFL or IELTS are compulsory for this course (so a proficiency letter from your school doesn't cut it here). You must also produce evidence of basic german (A1 or A2 I guess) before you are allowed to write your thesis even tho the thesis would be written in English language.

It is a wonderful course with a lot of prospects (considering the huge automotive space and also the aerospace work in Germany) and if I were in your shoes, I would do all from now to ensure I get in. If this is the course you want then this is not the time to start saying "I dont want to write Toefl" and other similar comments.

Depending on your current plans I advise that you:

1) Establish the application opening and closing date

2) Confirm your eligibility for the course (bsc must be in mech or automobile engineering). If you are unsure about this then mail them your transcript as pdf

3) Inquire about the necessity of the GRE (if they say you can submit it then ensure you take it)

4) Definitely register for and take the TOEFL or IELTS

5) Register for the German A1 course at Goethe and proceed to A2 afterwards if time and opportunity allow. (You need the certificate to register for your third semester and it is not very easy to start learning german once your msc has started)

6) Work on your other application docs including motivation letter, transcript etc.

7) Apply to other schools also...just in case wink . But I hope you get in.

BTW, the course can only begin in the Winter Semester. Where do you get the idea of applying this summer from

Technically, you haven't applied for a visa yet. You apply for a visa at your interview. An application number should be on your visa fee receipt. What you applied for is an appointment to apply for the visa, i.e, you applied for an interview appointment and not a student visa (yet). smiley
And my name was also misspelled in the appointment email. I don't think it should be too much of a problem. But in any case, if you feel uncomfortable about it, mail them.

Congrats to those issued their visas today... One love

As regards your misspelt name, just go for your appointment prepared and spell your name correctly on your visa application form (exactly as it is written on your passport) and you will be fine (the name that would be printed on your visa will be the one on your passport)

Guten tag to all d men them in d haus, I av a really down spirit writing on ere today, was at d consulate earlier today as I was told to come frm d mail I got last wk. I thot I was goin to write a test as d V/O had told me last wk when I had my interview, but to my dismay I was handed a refusal letter with d reason for not having sincere intentions but I can appeal it. And on the letter I was addressed as mrs as to d mr in my form and on my passport and other documents. Now I need your advise as to what to do and how best to channel my appeal. Waiting in anticipation

Sorry bro, it is natural for someone to be down but reading the testimony of those that have successfully appealed their own case should be a pointer that you are not out yet. Don't be tired but rather refire . While you are working on your next line of action, make sure you put some of these things into consideration. @d german consulate on tuesday 1st of sept. For a BSC course, after d whole interview the V/O told me that e ought to conduct an aptitude test for me but time won't allow and that I'll b contacted by the consulate on when to come write the test" .During Dolpaz interview, I was privileged to be there. Both of them going for Bsc that day were given test before the interview; it was after they wrote the test that they did the interview proper. As for your case, you were given opportunity to complete the interview before the VO said "he ought to conduct an aptitude test" which simply means your interview may not be convincing enough. NOTE: Prepare very well for the next one using the questions that have been posted on this thread couple with what you have experienced at the consulate twice. Get those questions and supply the answers in your own way, type and print it out so that you can be reading it like hand out again and again. Look for someone to do pre-interview for you by giving him or her the questions and answers while he or she will stand as your VO. If possible, do it on phone and face to face. Then 2. You said something about you been rejected for language course last year "New on dis forum buh intendin to study in a german uni. Was thr last year buh d german woman denied me, altho it was for a language course". I think they might, I repeat might be thinking that Language course last year, and another course this year. They may be sensing desperation or something; you never can tell. Look at the best way you can use these two occassions to your own advantage. How? I am still thinking of how too but others on this platform can come out with better options on how to achieve this during your letter of appeal and interview. Number 3. Read two subjects that are directly related to your chosen course; though not extensively but the basics of the subjects. Finally, pray. The same God yesterday, is still the same today and forever. If we can pray, we have God that can answer. This is my opinion and it is subjected to constructive argument and may or may not be the case. Shalom

@honourableseyi I really appreciate your prompt advise, but the vo didn't ave any issues with my conduct during d interview I can only recall dat e ask'd hu my sponsor is and I told him he's my big bro, then e ask'd if I won't follow suit of gettin to germany and afta sch get maryd to a german lady. Also as regards d issue of time, d guy dat went in afta me didn't use more than 10mins wit d vo I guez e rushed thru d interview wit him. And as for d appeal, do I get d services of a lawyer or go thru with it myself? And lastly we were 4 dat was denied today and all 4 ar using a sponsor letter and not a blocked acct, does dis av any relation to our bn refused visa? Need ur views ASAP! sad

Wow... I'm really grateful .You took time to give this kind of detailed info. Respect.

1. I'm definitely taking IELTS.

2. Will try and make good enquiry about registering for German A1 course -but I didn't find it in the requirements for admission (at least) and also if I will need to write GRE too.

3.it has both semesters for summer and winter - they wrote recommended on the winter tho-

4.They have some other private taught good courses affliated to a school in Netherland (I don't mind this courses even if I will have to pay cos I'm looking at the competitions for Auto ) and more so the ranking of the school is very high.

5.Thanks , I welcome further enlightening.
