And NO your Lynx clearly are not asw platforms!! This is a ASW Lynx:

EVarn:
Russia,China,Pakistan,Poland,Ukraine,Czech,Israel and Turkey(?): they all provided us with lethal hardwares ranging from armed drones and attack helicopters to assault rifles.
The US,UK and Canada provided us with intel through constant surveillance and satellite roaming, while South Africa sold us logistics.
Modest hardwares such as alpha jets,mini-drones,and some infantry gears{including communication gadgets} were procured from the US/Europe/Israel,while the rest were sourced from indigenous arm manufacturers.
Okay,thanks

2012 to 2014 pics dude. Nigerian navy sea exercise Obaganme year 2014.

https://cimsec.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ADMalade-300x199.jpg

Nigeria received naval version AW 109 E-Power helicopter in 2012, and the ship NNS Thunder in 2011, so how did we take the photo in 1998 ?

Mumu grin

Nigerian navy has 6 helicopters and dozens of qualified pilots to land at sea, a feat that is too big for tiny South Africa to attempt as you have only one sea landing qualified pilot in your Southie 50 million population of dullards.

South African navy has ZERO aircraft grin

You just making a noise about nothing, I have always said ATR-42 is not ASW and has no sonar, I have said that since 2012, so what's your mouse about?

It's you and patches who have been telling lies that Nigerian navy Lynx ASW helicopter is a civilian version, you keep telling lies about it despite many sources including SIPRI clearly saying it's Nigerian Lynx helicopters ASW version .

You Southies are the ones telling shameless lies here, and your foolish friend @Saengine will close eyes to that and be grumbling about that he posted sources and Augustine is still arguing.

Southie fraudsters !
So I ask you again!! does your Lynx look like any of the Lynx's you posted? o ours for that matter?

See this guy o? Am I doing an academic research here? Or are you saying information on Wikipedia are completely useless? Yes many people contribute to it but very few are Zulus. So to some degree I believe the information it contains.

The people that made the update must have some information just like I said I read it from another source too.

Secondly, I said Nigerian military customise their equipments base on their needs and you won't get the full details online unlike you Zulus that buy what you don't need and can't even operate. we see pics of them everywhere not knowing you don't have pilots and sailors.

That your photo is Super Lynx ASW, the Nigerian version is an older model called Lynx Mk.89 ASW, different models different names.

You think those two big round discs outside the helicopter nose is a sonar? No, it's a radar and FLIR

For SAAF super lynx, the radar is outside, but for NN Lynx Mk.89 the radar is inside the nose cone hidden, and the sonar is inside the cabin hidden behind closed doors.

You are still asking me for sources? Your reply was to my post containing two sources. You are so shocked with the evidence that you cannot look at it twice or else you start crying bottle load of tears.

How many vessels does your tiny South African navy have?

"Between 2001 and 2008, the Nigerian Armed Forces entered into contractual agreements and/or taken delivery of the following:

FOUR Balsam-class 61m logistics ships
TWO stealth offshore patrol craft
A NUMBER British-made supply vessels
MANY DOZENS of Chinese, US and Singapore-built fast response boats, troop landing craft and gunboats in the 10-25m configs."

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/nigeria/navy-modernization.htm

Yes Nigerian navy fleet is by numbers, as large as those of Russia and America, and we have a superior IPV force better than any super power in the world today.

ANOTHER 30 NEW GUNBOATS THIS YEAR 2015 : http://www.african-defense.com/?p=1903

50% of Nigerian navy fleet is almost 200 vessels of ALL SIZES.

How many vessels does the entire South African navy have ? grin grin

.
You said your navy has 400 vessels

Post a citation to prove that

1. Nope, you know nothing about naval operations, a ship at harbour, docked at seaport and not moving, anchored and tied down to the land port facilities is NOT AT SEA, a helicopter landing on it is NOT LANDING AT SEA, it's landing at harbour, you dummy grin grin

2. The Lynx blades can spin for photo demo or static simulation, it's common, or just warming the engine.

3. You proved with photo that South African helicopters CANNOT land on a moving ship at sea.

4. I have posted 6 different photos of Nigerian navy helicopters landing at sea, we have 6 such helicopters. You still asking? Dullard.

South African air force can only land 1 helicopter at sea, Nigeria can do 6 times that number......and South African navy does NOT even have one single helicopter talk less of pilot.....obsolete navy with ZERO fleet air arm grin grin

.
1. Landing on a vessel is landing on a vessel

2. Bladea are spinning because it just landed. Consult henrys thread for more pictures

3. Yes, pictures of helicopters landing on and taling off from ships totally proved that - delusional clown

4. You have yet to post any proof relating to the number of qualified pilots nigeria has

South African navy does not need a fleet air a because we are able to co-ordinate with SAAF. Your argument is beyond ludicrous

South Africa has ONLY 13 anti-ship missiles, so how will you use it to sink 200 vessels? Dullard grin grin

Nigerian navy has NNS Aradu with missiles and she is going for refit this year in Lagos shipyard, officially confirmed.

Nigeria has NNS Centenary with anti-missile decoys so we can waste all your Soweto missiles and it becomes a gun battle, Nigeria has longer range ship guns and we will sink Mandela's navy in 10 minutes
.
Aradu is not operational and refit has not been confirmed

Post citation for effectiveness of NNS Centenary decoys

Listen retaaard that round disc houses the sonar !! The reason the Lynx in your photo doesn't have that nose housing is because at that time ASW helicopters were only fitted with sonobuoy/dipping sonars.

secondly you havent provided any sources yet!! I want a link!!

I told you pics and detailed info about our equipment are difficult to get.

But the I know our ASW 109 used to destroy boko haram logistics recently and a weaponise super puma of the air force. Some alpha jets and even the some hinds were upgraded, MI 17,gazelle helicopters all tailored to meet their needs in the NE.

Old pics of your jets when you had just nine pilots but now you have just six who can fly them. You don't have combat qualified pilots.

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by iblawi(m): 8:24am On Sep 11, 2015
South Africa has only 6 pilot for Gripen not 9. They are even considering selling them.

Four months after admitting that 12 of its 26 Gripen jet fighters had been placed in storage because they were too expensive to operate and there were not enough qualified pilots to fly them, South African officials admitted that the maintenance contracts for all the Gripens had expired in April. That made long term use of the Gripens dangerous. This contract was with a reliable, and expensive, South African firm (Denel). The maintenance contracts pay for ongoing support for the aircraft to include updates and warnings on problems other users have encountered as well as access to manufacturer engineers and maintenance experts. Aircraft become more dangerous to operate (if they operate at all) without regular maintenance and these maintenance contracts are a critical part of that. Some South African politicians are now calling for the Gripens to be sold, as there is not likely to be sufficient money to operate them and retain qualified pilots.

Currently only about half of the remaining 14 Gripens are flyable and there are only six qualified Gripen pilots. Corruption, shrinking defense budgets, and political pressure to find more black combat pilots and technical personnel has led to the South African Air Force having fewer operational aircraft. All this has been going on for over a decade.

For example, back in 2009, the South African Air Force stopped automatically releasing data on how many hours combat pilots flew for training. When the numbers were finally obtained, it was discovered that in 2008, fighter pilots were in the air for 325 hours (less than two hours a month per pilot). In contrast, pilots on VIP flights (carrying politicians and government officials) were up there 1,932 hours. There are about fifty transports and 80 helicopters in the air force at the time, and that number has continued to shrink.

Old and outdated source!!

http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=31821

Some of the South African Air Force’s fleet of 26 Saab Gripen fighter jets will not be placed in storage but will rather be flown on a rotational basis, according to an Air Force official. Earlier this year it was reported that 12 Gripens had been placed in storage.

18 Gripen aircrew (navigators and pilots) have been trained up to operational status to date and 52 Hawk aircrew have been trained so far.

thus 26 Gripens in total - 12 Gripens in storage= 14 operational thus = 14 pilots!! in 2013

Since the start of this month with 24 SA Air Force (SAAF) members now undergoing extended training in various aviation-related disciplines in the island republic.
That the airborne arm of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) has its personnel problems, particularly in high-level skills sectors such as pilots, navigators and aircraft technicians, is common knowledge. It was again raised, albeit briefly, by defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula at AFB Waterkloof two weeks ago. She was briefing the media on aspects around the charter of a bizjet owned by a Gupta-owned company that flew Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and a small entourage to and from Japan.
She indicated approaches had been made by former SAAF members keen to sign up again and also mentioned collaboration with Cuba on training.
Department of Defence head of communications, Siphiwe Dlamini, confirmed this week that 24 SAAF members were now in Cuba.
“There are four SAAF members undergoing pilot training over a four year period and five members undergoing air traffic control training over a two year period. Another eight SAAF members are undergoing aviation engineering over a six year period and a further seven are doing three year aviation technical training courses. The courses commenced on September 1.

“The aim of the initiative is to increase co-operation and working relations between the Revolutionary Army of Cuba and SANDF in the spirit of improved co-operation as well as the promotion of military to military relations between the two countries,” he said.

The SA Army, specifically its vehicle maintenance section, has had about 100 Cuban mechanics and diesel specialists in its ranks since February as part of a technical agreement between the Caribbean island country and South Africa. They are working alongside South African maintenance personnel on Samil vehicles to create an internal pool of technical skills in the SANDF, Dlamini said at the time.
“This will enable the defence for to properly service and maintain its vehicles,” he said during a visit to a military vehicle maintenance workshop in Potchefstroom.
In April SANDF spokesman Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga said 25 students who planned on making their careers in the SA Military Health Service (SAMHS) were currently studying medicine in Cuba.
