Let me add the part of the article which was left out....for whatever reason . So basic logic shows if the SAAF is busy training pilots from Oman, they could also easily train their own pilots. 4 SAAF pilot trainees going to Cuba, when 9 foreign pilots being trained here. Simple military co-operation seen in plenty other airforces around the world. Oh and 4 pilot trainees isnt even 10% of the initial batch of student pilots who join the SAAF every year. "While South Africa is sending trainee pilots and others to Cuba, the SAAF's Central Flying School at AFB Langebaanweg is currently home to a group of nine pupil pilots and an instructor from the Royal Air Force of Oman. The group arrived at the West Coast base in September a year ago to start a 16 month pilot's course. The Omani air force operates 12 Pilatus PC-9M turboprop training aircraft, the last of which was delivered in March 2000. Corrosion and other problems have seen all the aircraft go back to the Pilatus factory in Switzerland for major overhaul and refurbishment work. With its training aircraft out of action for at least a year, a decision was taken to outsource training and the SAAF bid was successful." |

patches689:No source ever said Nigerian navy has shortage of pilots, or is there a source that says every navy in the world has such and such number of pilots The ONLY AIR FORCE WITH REPORTED AND PUBLISHED pilots relevant to this forum is South African air force, Gripen jet pilot shortage and Lynx helicopter pilot shortage. There is no report of Nigerian navy pilot shortage for landing at sea, the problem does not exist, so no report exists. South Africa can only land one Lynx helicopter at sea for ever ![]() . |

patches689:My two sources have already counted hundreds, no single source will list 400 vessels on one page. = 75 major vessels already confirmed by ship names NNS series of ships = My source adds several new British boats = Also adds dozens of Singaporean and Chinese gunboats, river boats, and landing crafts = Then adds 30 new gunboats that arrived a few months ago brand new The above already counts about 200 vessels conservatively. The global security list does not include Hollands supply of 60 X-18 Combat stealth catamarans, 6 K-13 fast boats, that is another 66 boats making 266, then add this list where Australia alone supplied Nigerian navy 150 units of new gunboats : CONFIRMED DELIVERIES OF OVER 200 RIVER GUNBOATS LANDING CRAFT TO THE NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES PREAMBLE: This report focuses ONLY on the CONTRACT won by SINGAPORE’s SUNCRAFT GROUP for which the actual construction was outsourced to the AUSTRALIA’s STRATEGIC MARINE GROUP’s SHIPYARDS with shipyards in Australia, Vietnam and Mexico. patches689:Stop dragging this forum backwards, NNS Aradu refit is officially confirmed and posted here many times . "The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin revealed this during the ceremonial sunset to signal the end of the 59th anniversary of the Navy. He said that the decision was borne out of the desire to equip the Navy for local building of ships, noting that the firm which will be domiciled at the Naval Dockyard, will take on the rehabilitation of Nigeria’s flagship, NNS ARADU , six strides boats, and build some interceptor boats, to ensure the emplacement of adequate security within the nation’s waters." http://shipsandports.com.ng/navy-partners-uae-firm-in-local-shipbuilding/ Stop asking for repeat of sources that have been posted already, stop messing up this forum you South Africans !!!!!!! .

jln115:Different ASW helicopters have different hardware construction and Lynx has over ten different versions all over the world varying from country to country you fool ! Post you a link, yes I did, SIPRI org databases http://www.sipri.org/databases Says Nigerian lynx is AWS and that makes you a born fool. Next, Super Lynx sonar is NOT in the nose, the sonar is a long oblong tube, and you cannot put that inside a radar you dummy, nobody puts long fat iron tubes inside a circular shaped radar, your dull transplanted zulu brain does not know what mathematically symmetrical shapes mean....fool ! See photo of what sonar looks like...they are placed in the middile of helicopters not their nose, it needs to be dragged along the sea for many kilometers, how do you think it`s inside the nose....mumu zulu head ![]()

agaugust:What are decoys designed to do? The seduce or fool the incoming missile's seeker. here's the twist with late seeker activation it means you might deploy your decoys while the missile is still approaching a point or area where it will activate its seeker and lock on. Sea skimming missiles are difficult to detect due the fact they fly below the radar cone coverage of targets they are attacking. In terms of combat capability the SA navy tactical fleet can reduce any navy in sub Saharan Africa to the button of the sea. |
