Henry120:Obsolete compared what that's currently in service in sub sahara africa. Show us what Nigeria has that is operational with a better combat suit. You keep referring to a sulking guy who lost out on a contract and who now tries he's best to discredit the winning bidder. Yet when looking at the French Navy they use the very same system you deem obsolete on there ships including the Saudi's. Henryetta let's settle this issue once and for all now and tell us compared to what are the Valours obsolete. Compare your old Aradu vs Valour or any other ship in your navy. |

Henry120:Nigerian Navy - The Nigerian Navy (NN) says it is unable to fulfil its constitutional obligation of defending and protecting the country's territorial waters - NN Chief of Naval Staff Vice-Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas said most of vessels are down due to negligence on the part of the navy officers who use them. - He said most of the operations designed to eradicate the oil bunkering syndicates operating in the country's waters were still achieving limited success because some navy officers and other security personnel were involved in the illegal activities. - In 2012, the Nigerian Senate Committee on navy toured naval bases in the five states of the Niger Delta and found the equipment and infrastructure in a broken down state which made it impossible for the force to secure the country's territorial waters. http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=40477:fifty-per-cent-of-nigerian-navy-vessels-broken-down-says-naval-chief-of-staff&catid=51:Sea&Itemid=106 Nigerian Airforce - Nigeria has an Air Force with few functional aircraft. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is largely irrelevant. - There are six times as many general officers and flag officers in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and Nigerian Navy (NN) as there are operational ships and aircraft. - As of 2009, most of its fleets were grounded and its training institutions were constrained with shortages of technical skills such as instructors and institutional facilities - Lack of funding has been responsible for an inability to preserve aircraft regularly… Aircraft become due for Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) with time, and not by hours flown, because they are most of the time grounded for unserviceability. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/nigeria/air-force.htm Nigerian Army - Nigeria's military is underfunded and poorly equipped in its battle to check Boko Haram's rampaging insurgency, the country's outgoing chief of defence staff said on Thursday - "I was head of a military that lacked the relevant equipment and motivation to fight an enemy that was invisible and embedded with the local populace," Badeh said. http://news.yahoo.com/nigeria-military-poorly-equipped-fight-boko-haram-military-234506887.html - Stories of Nigerian soldiers running away from Boko Haram militants have been widely reported - but low on ammunition and allocated vehicles that don't work, a former soldier says they are being outgunned and overpowered. - I have heard many reports of Boko Haram attacks where the soldiers ended up running away with the civilians. - After the night-long battle his soldiers were low on ammunition but when they urgently called for more supplies each soldier was given just 10 rounds. - There were other problems. He tells me about armoured vehicles that were in such poor mechanical condition they would just produce smoke and wouldn't move http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-30930767 Lol, Henry120 points his finger at us but forgets that 4 fingers are pointing back at him!! |

patches689:- Mumu, you have 26 Gripen Jets. There is no evidence whatsoever that you have more than 9 Gripen Pilots. If you have more than 9 Pilots, you won't be begging SAA for pilots. - your 22 Squadroun has at least 6 Super-Puma Helicopters, if you can only put 2 in the air, when you could previously put 6 Super-Pumas in the air, it shows there is a massive skill and Pilot shortage. Only 1 Pilot from 22 Squadroun can land at sea, now that's hopelessly pathetic. - why don't you provide the evidence dummy? As far as the specifications go, SA navy valour Frigates cannot be considered as modern. They are obsolete - You have a Skill shortage, this is the reason you can only put a fraction of your obsolete military equipment at sea. "That the airborne arm of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) has its personnel problems, particularly in high-level skills sectors such as pilots, navigators and aircraft technicians, is common knowledge. It was again raised, albeit briefly, by defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula at AFB Waterkloof two weeks ago." - you paid, 40 million dollars a unit for petty SAR Helos. The cluelessness of SA military handlers is downright astonishing. The SANDF can only truly be compared to the Malawian and Burundian militaries. Your standards are so low! |

DO NOT TRUST FRANCOIS HOLLANDE!!- TOP FRENCH ECONOMIST TIÉCORO DIAKITE WARNS NIGERIAN PRESIDENT MOHAMMADU BUHARI . . http://www.naij.com/551128-dont-trust-hollande-french-economist-sends-open-letter-warning-buhari.html . Glad to know that we have some french "allies" afterall....international politics is getting more interesting these days..hehehehe "France will provide intel and equipment for the MNJTF" *meaning*: France will only arm its francophone vassal provinces in the MNJTF{Niger,Chad,Cameroon} and continue to strengthen its military positions in Niger,Chad and Cameroon in the name of fighting terrorism. |

Henry120:They know the truth but if they don't flex power with Nigeria they won't be relevant. 4 Frigates and 3 submarines alone won't make a navy. The SAN meko200 Frigate is the worst of all the meko 200. Same with their lynx. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 3:24pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
patches689:Facts are simple, we all know what your Lynx has.... SAN Lynx basic search and rescue helicopters with ZERO weapons or anti-submarine warfare capabilities, South Africa foolishly paid $ 40 million for a basic rescue helicopter for pulling drowning men out of the ocean you fool .

iblawi:I too was quite amused by the news,i'm sure that PMB understands the fickle relationship between Nigeria and France; afterall,we expelled their embassy in 1961 for detonating three nuclear explosives in the sahara{our backyard},you can never expect any proud western country to ever forget such a humiliating gesture. The french economist was quite correct in his assertions,France is an imperialist power in Africa and its interests does not bode well for development in Nigeria and Africa. This is the same country that was a chief financer of the defunct Republic of Biafra,in the end, they failed and it further stoked their silent resentment toward us.did they ever apologise to us?,no!. Nigeria should fight its war alone; we shouldnt expect support from the UN,AU or world powers, that is how the world works, abeg. If we choose to dust the bench and sit waiting for help that will not come, then we are on our own. |

patches689:Forget the fisherman and shooting case, we never heard a report from Germany to confirm South Africa's claims. You guys have tell a lot of lies lies lies, you lied for 5 years on this forum that your Lynx are ASW and you were showing fake photo evidence. Nobody trusts a South African. BTWN, how many times have you people said wrong things like 2,000 people dies in Baga when Boko Haram attacked? Does anything change the fact that your Lynx helicopters are basic rescue choppers? NO. Stop fooling around. SAAF has only one or two Oryx helicopters to fly at one time . |

iblawi:You can barely flex power within your small over populated shiithole. Your barracks land and naval gets frequently raided by primitive goat herders with old ak47's while your soldiers run away dressed as woman hiding to continue with there cowardly poverty stricken existence. The very same SAS Valours are considered as some of the best in its class in Africa and the world. 4 Frigates and 3 subs are more then enough to render your already obsolete Navy dead and useless. Your own navy can't even properly protect a small maritime area of only 822km against piracy yet you wanna compare to SA that has a 2800km maritime area. Our Lynx is way more advance then anything in service anywhere in sub saharan navies and that's a fact. Nigeria is an embarrassment to africa. |

DictatorZAR:4 Frigates and 3 subs won't make a navy. They will remain useless as you have no sailors. please what has your Navy ever protected? Yes More advance than AW-109 but at what price $40 million to <$10 million. Dull set of Africans. You are free to post more pics of your utility helicopter |

Henry120:- Mumu, you have 26 Gripen Jets. There is no evidence whatsoever that you have more than 9 Gripen Pilots. If you have more than 9 Pilots, you won't be begging SAA for pilots. You mean no evidence apart from the 14 operational Gripen? SAAF did not ask SAA for Gripen pilots. Stop telling lies - your 22 Squadroun has at least 6 Super-Puma Helicopters, if you can only put 2 in the air, when you could previously put 6 Super-Pumas in the air, it shows there is a massive skill and Pilot shortage. Only 1 Pilot from 22 Squadroun can land at sea, now that's hopelessly pathetic. This is not a factual statement. Simply allegations. Wait for confirmation before you make statements. - why don't you provide the evidence dummy? As far as the specifications go, SA navy valour Frigates cannot be considered as modern. They are obsolete Obsolete in comparison to what? Is Charles De Gaulle, the Layfette Frigates and the Saudi flagship also obsolete? - You have a Skill shortage, this is the reason you can only put a fraction of your obsolete military equipment at sea. Our problem is no where near as severe as yours. So what is your point? - you paid, 40 million dollars a unit for petty SAR Helos. The cluelessness of SA military handlers is downright astonishing. And yet they arent petty SAR helo's The SANDF can only truly be compared to the Malawian and Burundian militaries. Your standards are so low! Only when you apply your double standards and cognitive dissonance. In reality we are in a position that Nigeria could only dream of |

agaugust:German embassy confirmed it. When did I say that the Lynx was ASW? Quote me No - you dont trust a South African. Not because we are liars, but because it does not suit your arguments. Are the Lynx basic rescue helicopters? NO SAAF only has one squadron of Oryx? Seriously? |

iblawi:What is your rust bucket A109's worth that has even less capabilities then the SAN Lynx 300 |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by iblawi(m): 4:28pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
DictatorZAR:Is less than half the price of your lynx. And performs the same function. So you see is not a rust bucket cos It worth the price. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by iblawi(m): 4:39pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
EVarn:I believe Buhari is wise enough to understand the politics. Nigerians are wiser than what they think. Do you remember this story https://www.naij.com/388982-army-captures-french-boko-haram-fighters-france-demands-them-back.html |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 4:47pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
iblawi:The fact is that our lynx has far better capabilities then your non operational rust buckets. Fact deal with it. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:49pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
iblawi:No, but the: - Embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation System - Telephonics Ocean-Eye radar - Sysdel Sea Raven Electronic Support Measures (ESM) suite (which is used for passive target detection and identification) - Denel Optronics Argos 410-M Electro Optic Sight System (with a forward-looking infra-red (FLIR) sensor and a day camera passive target identification and recording.) - Sysdel electronic warfare suite - a Saab Grintek Avitronics EW countermeasures system - infrared exhaust suppression system - electro-optical sighting system (EOSS) - Tellumat an Identification Friend or Foe system. While Target tracks and video images can be transmitted to the parent ship in real time using the Datalink unit supplied by Thales Advanced Engineering Add about 30 million to the price. And citations: http://www.saairforce.co.za/the-airforce/aircraft/46/super-helicopter-300 http://www.agustawestland.com/product/helicopters/superlynx300 As you can see, the Lynx is hardly "just a SAR platform" |

DictatorZAR:Pls what has you lynx done that AW-109 has not done. You wasted money cos you want to snap pics with them. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:50pm On Sep 15, 2015 |
iblawi:It performs less than a 10th of the function Unless it can perform: - targetting for mothership - Electronic Warfare - Passive Reconnaissance - Has a reduced IR signature |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 4:51pm On Sep 15, 2015 |

patches689:It's easy to demolish the garbage you wrote above. 1. Nigerian army has won the Boko Haram war and the enemy is in disarray and 99% dead, many now surrender to the mighty Naija army ! http://neurope.eu/article/scores-of-boko-haram-fighters-surrender/ 2. Your NAF news is old 2009, we did not even have any F-7 jet in those days, we have purchased over 70 new aircraft from 2010-2015 3. The Nigerian navy chief also said the ships faults were very minor and easy to fix : "The committee also found that several navy vessels - including NNS Damisa and NNS Victory - and light patrol boats were broken down with minor mechanical problems which could be easily fixed". Nigerian navy has about 400 vessels and 50% down means 200 still active, 5 times more than the entire South African navy. All your 3 points are demolished in 3 minutes ![]() . |
