What does that have to do with continental alliance?,Dangote is currently colonizing the zambian economy and thoroughly thrashing France's lafarge holcim out of the market.
Zambia has chosen to ally itself with the true continental powerhouse, even though it is a SADC country.
Zambian SFs are trained in Russia.
"President Lungu says, "It's common knowledge that South Africa is a big country. It's a powerful one for that matter in the region and is a member of SADC and its role cannot be questioned both in the socio-political and economic landscape for the African continent."

How can anyone ever colonise economy by just manufacturing cement. Economy of any country is so diversified that it cannot in anyway be colonised by simple cement investment.

lol,you brought stale news my friend, stale news.2005 article,so much has changed in Nigeria since 2005; population has grown, economy has tripled, infrastructure has boomed, new cities have been built, standard of living has improved,middle-class has quadrupled, education has improved etc....
Many things have changed in Africa; Gadaffi has fallen,Libya is a failed state,Egypt is a semi-failed state,Senegal is now even more entrenched in corruption, democratic instability and economic mismanagement,Kenya is practically ruled by a dynasty,Tensions has increased in East Africa between Ethiopia,Kenya,Somalia and Eritiea.

Yes,and the same can be said for Nigeria.President Lungu said "..South Africa is a big country.." not "..South Africa is the biggest country..",Nigeria,Egypt,Algeria and Ethiopia are also big and powerful countries.
Even the US President Obama admitted that Nigeria is the most strategically important country in Africa,China's prime minister also agreed that Nigeria is Africa's powerhouse.

Biggest only come when there is comparison, so there was none in President Lungus words to compare. Obama and Chinese President still said the same of South Africa. However, I agree that Nigeria is the economic powerhouse of Africa and not political powerhouse.

Havent you heard?,cement is the new oil!!
Zambia's economy is not vastly diversified, most of its revenue is earned from solid minerals,of which limestone is a huge percentage.
Moreover,Dangote not only built a $400 million cement plant,he aalso constructed a 30MW power plant, along with recent investment which includes sugar refinery, flour mill, noddles factory and others.

Your own encyclopedia source claiming large numbers confirms that those were NOT upgraded with modern composite/passive armour, they were given added old school RHA basic steel armour and double floor armour like a basic MRAP.

"The hull protection is enhanced by the installation of additional RHA armour to the glacis plate, nose beak, turret front, sides and front roof, placed with a large gap in between the original turret like a cofferdam, which could be filled if needed. The turret bustle also receive more stowage capability. The hull bottom is protected against mines by a double floor with the torsion bars between the two floor plates."

http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/coldwar/South_Africa/Olifant_MkI.php

Dont drag us back to old issues . It has been proved that SANDF has only 44 units Olifant Mk 1B composite/passive upgrades. This case has been closed many months ago.

Stop wasting our time here.

CASE CLOSED .
"Protection includes modular armour packages" "Ignition danger was prevented by blow off panels"

"The glacis plate and nose of the hull have been upgraded with the addition of passive armour and the turret has been fitted with stand-off armour. The installation of a double-armour floor gives the crew additional protection against mines. The running gear is protected against HEAT missiles by new sideskirts."

"(5) Installation of additional passive armour to the glacis plate, nose, forward part of the turret roof and turret front and sides. Turret front and side armour is placed well away from the actual turret"

Good.
As for being the political powerhouse,I disagree; Nigeria is the 4th biggest democracy and the biggest democratic black nation of the planet, well ahead of Brazil and the US.This makes us Africa's political powerhouse.
With the recent smooth transition of power,Nigeria's democracy has grown to match that of South Africa in terms of advancement, though we operate different political systems.

Any modern radar can detect your snorkeling sub.
It can only go 400 nautical miles submerged, so that means lesser job to be done.

Why do you keep about 130 units of Olifant Mk 1A in your armoury if you don't need them? SANDF will be forced to use those old obsolete tanks if you have to defend a huge region as big as Scotland like Nigeria did, your upgraded 44 Mk 1B tanks will not be enough to spread over 100 cities.

T-72 tank kontakt-5 ERA armour will defeat your ATGM, not to talk of T-90 tank that has it's own ATGM and composite impregnable armour, and anti-missile defence systems. Your SANDF has never fought against even a T-72 that has Kontakt-5 ERA armour, talk less of your rookie army fighting a T-90 tank.

Brah, think before you post!
1. Week over 200 olifant upgraded to mk2 status

2. Nope kontakt will not defeat an atgm- just look at Syria. Same with the T90

Nigeria has never fought a tank battle

Master Blaster comment cool cool cool

The South Africans though they have an American style Nuclear engine powered submarine that cans stay permanently under water.

Well, Niaja boys have now unblocked their blocked brains to realize that their submarine has only 4 days to submerge under water, and of that 4 days, ONLY 2 days can be spent in Nigerian Gulf of Guinea EEZ waters and ONLY a few minutes in Nigerian coastal territorial waters or else it will not have battery power to run out of our waters and go back home alive.

The Southie mumus thought their submarine will fight according to it's nice photograph posted all over internet, they forgot to check up it's technical and operational weaknesses.

The ignorant South Africandos don't know that the entire Nigerian EEZ is 100% covered by 500 km range sea search radars 24 hours surveillance, we also have 50 km range coastal TV Camera 24 hour surveillance with object detection images linked to a central command and control network-centric analysis computerized situational awareness management/control room. Nigerian waters have the most sophisticated electronic surveillance systems in all Africa from Cape Town to Cairo, they don't even know we now have the new sophisticated Israeli Falcon Eye complete EEZ 24 hours high powered electronic sensors surveillance systems.

No wahala, the Souties have agreed to park their Submarine safely 1,000 km away in Angola's waters, they have dismantled their naval blockade by themselves, fear of Nigeria's hunt and kill air/sea power, ah Naija u wicked o !

South African Submarine.....back to sender cheesy shocked tongue grin
.
You can't catch pirates

How will you catch a sub?

We knew do subs need to snorkel

Fact you have no single counter against a sub

You have said so yourself!!!

After over 25,000 airstrikes by coalition forces in Iraq and Syria, I hope you still don't think airstrikes is an effective COIN tool, especially by Fighter jets ?

I mean......... The 4 GEN and 4.5 GEN jets look awesome in photos, but in actually combat effectiveness, they've been abysmal to say the least.

Just because you have the 4th biggest voting population don't make you democratic. Some of your laws are still archaic and non democratic and still discriminate against minorities. A democracy is only good when press freedom is protected and fully guaranteed under its constitution. But I'm afraid this seems not to be the case in Nigeria at times. Go look at your press freedom and then you'll soon come to the realisation you are far from being truly democratic.

You need to take a few political science classes because you way out your depths here.

Now don't derail this thread again with your off topic bs.

The probability of a modern radar detecting a snorkeling sub is far less but doesn't mean it cannot be detected.

I wonder why you guys put too much hope on your subs. Can you give me a good example of a diesel-electric submarine that has entered any enemy territory to lunch attack on vessels independently before.
